Came in this afternoon with a group from work, who have various disabilities. The staff this afternoon were absolutely the kindest helpful young ladies. My buddies were treated wonderfully and were so happy to be welcomed here with open arms and hearts. Thank you! We got a Blueberry Milkshake and a Blueberry Soda Float (vanilla ice cream). The Fountain uses Giffords Ice cream, and Eli's blueberry soda. The milkshake was super thick and tasty but took quite a while to make. The shop has an old timey soda shop vibe but the staff didn't quite match that feeling. Side note: The shop also offers gluten free bread for their sandwiches but we did not get one. read more

A rudimentary plan to grab a sandwich at this place after dropping off some film at NP has worked in my favor. The waxing moon may be foreboding for some, but for me it was fortuitous. John, the owner and soda jerk extraordinaire, was managing the front of the shoppe, preparing a bag for one of the regular customers. After placing my order with the satisfying reaffirmations "Good choice!" I took a seat at the counter. Then another regular picking up and friendly banter. Before long, John and I were chatting it up as if I, too, were a regular. He's definitely one of the friendliest guys and runs one of the most charming little ice cream/soda bar/sandwich shops I've been into. Super charming interior that really does make you feel like you're slipping back into the 50's. I actually tried a couple of their sandwich options, one at the shop and the other to take home. They are most satisfying, and feel as though you're nine years old again, visiting your Aunt Ginny and Uncle Ed, enjoying sandwiches and chips in the yard without a care in the world. read more

Hubby and I passed Bath on our way to more north and had some time to stop in on our way home. It was a quaint little town though at this point in the day, I was being kind of a whiner while hubby wanted to explore and take in the sights. As a compromise, we parked, walked about 50 ft and got ice cream here at The Fountain. The "aesthetic" as the influencers would say is an old school diner/deli spot. The signs were funny to read and went perfectly with our Wild Maine blueberry ice cream. It had a few stools that were occupied by a few rounds of people, so quaint and cozy! After most of our ice cream was gone, I mentioned I kind of wanted something soupy and hubby pointed out they had chicken stew and a seafood chowder. I was skeptical they would still have it since everyone who came in had been there for ice cream but when I went up, sure enough, they had the chicken stew! They didn't claim that it was homemade but it tasted so and was delicious and hit the spot. The guy who helped us (looked like he was in his late teens) was super cool and courteous, with both the ice cream and soup. They actually got pretty good foot traffic from what appeared to be local folks, living their best life getting double scoop ice cream cones. The ice cream line was long as soon as they opened-- watching the smiling professional counter staff deal with a chaotic group of excited kids was a pleasure and the kids went away happily licking their cones. Another customer chose her flavors by color-- to match her neon splash top! She went away happy. We were there for lunch which calls for anyone of their delicious hand made sandwiches and a root beer float or vanilla milkshake, don't you think? Yes. Be patient-- go elsewhere if you're in a rush. Hand made excellence is hard to come by. They have pre-made food as well, including their delicious haddock chowder. The choice varies-- a little bit of Mediterranean, a little bit of tex-mex, all of it delicious. All of their soups are outstanding. The decor is retro soda fountain and of course it works. But today was completely different there was three young adults in there today without a grown adult, I waited over 30 mins for two sandwiches as there was just me and another person ordering, when I got my sandwich I had no chips I payed for and the sandwich was in scrambles one peace of turkey, a whole half of a avocado, the ends of a tomato, mayo not even spread on! I love eating here not saying I'm never going again but this is ridiculous not one adult in there to provide guidance, please make sure ur employees are trained correctly before letting the kids have there own shift all together. read more

This downtown location is often very busy and that's because it's the perfect place to grab a sandwich (the cuban! very good), soup, salads and, of course, ice cream (hey! it's The Fountain). Everything we've had here is great. Ambiance is akin to an early sixties soda joint, but with modern food offerings. The Fountain is a cozy little place to pick up & go back to the office or to bring on a day trip or eat in the riverside park. Great new addition to town. They have some hot food options as well as soup, or you could get a sandwich. They have roughly 20 ice cream flavors to choose from along with shake options. Great atmosphere, the only thing I didn't love was the pickles with my sandwich. Call me a purist, but they should be dill and not sweet. read more

Awesome sandwich place right in downtown Bath. We ordered two sandwiches which was approx. a 25min wait. This place seems to stay quite busy but is well worth it. I ordered a Reuben which was perfect! Prices are also reasonable. I will definitely revisit again when in the area. read more

The downside can be cost. if you get ice cream with sprinkles it can be upwards at $5, but other menu items are reasonably priced and equally delicious. I have always enjoyed their casseroles and lunches but today I thought I'd try the ice cream. I am extremely particular about my hot fudge sauce. Many other places claim to serve it although it's Hershey's syrup. I almost fell over when the gal told me it is homemade! And boy was it delicious!
