Went the other night for a milkshake. Paid for it and the first sip was warm, like, warm. Not how an ice cream shake should be. I had to take it home and put it in the freezer for three hours to get it to drinkable fashion. Maybe the machine was messed up, idk. But, worst shake ever. Will not be ordering that again, probably won't go back again. Very disappointed. You guys are a staple and you messed it up for an avid fan. Fan no more. read more

I. Love. DAIRY JOY! This place is amazing. It's close to my house so it's easily accessible, not to mention it's close to the hospital so nurses can stop there during their break. The ice cream is amazing, (pistachio being my favorite) and it's generally very clean. The workers are always nice and make something as simple as ordering ice cream enjoyable. I tried Dairy Joy for the first time today and thought it was great. I got a sundae with mint chocolate chip and pistachio. The mint chocolate chip was good, and the pistachio was great. I highly recommend their pistachio if you like pistachio. My husband loved his freezie and my grandniece loved the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. read more

This is my favorite ice cream spot. It's never too busy, the ice cream is great and it's never messy. The service has always been great and the employees are nice. It's also never too loud. Not to mention it's in walking distance from my house, as well as St. Mary's and Bate's College so nurses and students can go there during their spare time. 5 stars. read more

Dairy Joy might be one of the most beloved places in Lewiston - I grew up in this area and have nothing but fond memories of the place. My mom used to bring my sister and I here before heading off for a summer adventure when we were kids, in high school my field hockey team and I would walk over for a treat after practice, and during my college years, when my grandfather wanted to cheat on his diet, he would call me and discreetly asked to be picked up so we could get some pistachio ice cream ("just a small, so Mama doesn't know"). The lines are so long they reach out to the street at the beginning of the season (usually late March/early April) and even at the end of the season (late October) when everything on the menu is half off (yes, HALF off EVERYTHING at the end of the season). For me, this place has always had the feeling of "coming home" - it's always looked the same and the ice cream's always tasted the same. Consistency and reliability like that is rarely found in non-"Mom & Pop"-esque places. So, if you're looking for a simple treat (a hot fudge milkshake, perhaps? a banana split? or maybe the beautiful simplicity of [the best] chocolate soft serve [you'll ever eat in your life] on a sugar cone?) come here and support a staple in Lewiston's economy. read more

Wanted to try someplace new to get ice-cream. The strawberry shake was good but we got a mix-in(like a blizzard) with vanilla chocolate twist and reese peaces not thst great tasted like most places we thought Dairy Queen was much better. Maybe we'll have to try it again and try something different or make it with different candy. My husband said that might have been the problem if it was peanut butter cups it would have been better idk. Nice friendly local place. read more

I just can't get over the quantity of ice cream $2.25 gets you here. It was hard ice cream and while it wasn't the best ice cream I've ever had, it was dirt cheap and it hit the spot. Plus, it was Shain's of Maine which I never had before and is, surprise surprise, from the state of Maine. Sanford ME to be exact. Soft serve ice cream is their main draw. Think of it as a privately owned Dairy Queen. I think they have a one or two other branches somewhere in northern Massachusetts. read more

Diary Joy is locally owned and has been an ice cream establishment staple for quite some time now. I always loved looking forward, as a child, finishing dinner and then going to it for a nice evening dessert. They have expanded their menu over the years to more flavorful combos and my all time favorite has always been their hot fudge sundaes. This place can get very busy and is located within walking distance of St. Mary's Regional Hospital. It may have been cold and rainy, but the peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter cups mixed in brought me great joy. I got a regular mix in and it was more ice cream than I could handle - which was a good thing. I thought the prices were reasonable, especially coming from Boston. I don't think another ice cream stand could ever live up to this one. I have sweet sweet memories coming to this place. They serve Shane's of Maine ice cream. My staple is the cookie dough in a sugar cone with rainbow sprinkles. The pieces of cookie dough are golf ball sized. It's just the best. read more

What can I say, you grow up in Lewiston and everyone enjoys their summer treats at Dairy Joy. I remember going on trips with my friends to get sundays, mix-ins, or chocolate-dipped soft serves. Oh man did it hit the spot after a long day at school! Back in the day I probably would have rated Dairy Joy 4 stars, but I had to give it 3 because there was a change in their soft serve!
