Fiesta Brava Mexican Restaurant - Yummy! - Mexican Near Me - Corning, New York

Not a single Mexican restaurant in Corning can seem to do it right. I've been to Fiesta Brava multiple times and have yet to have a good experience. Carpet is very dirty and my glass had red stains on the rim. Waiters are prompt but check took 20 minutes to make it to our table, 15 of which the waitress was chatting with the bartender. Beans are straight out of a can and do not taste authentic. My friend has ordered a cheese enchilada and received a beef enchilada the past 3 times we have gone. Will not be going back. read more

I give this place two stars due solely to the food. The salsa was tasty, and the chicken was tender. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. The service was deplorable, and made for a very uncomfortable evening. While we were still standing, taking our coats off the staff was asking for our order. Once sitting, and ready to order, we then had to place our drink order twice, with two different servers before we got the pitcher of margaritas. Upon arrival, the drinks had small, black plastic pieces floating in them (not to mention they tasted of purely sour mix). After reporting this, the server, who we came to understand was the owner, brought us back a warm margarita, with no ice. The food arrived, and as mentioned was satisfying, however, we were not halfway done before they brought the bill. We were told, by now the forth server who had been to our table, that she heard we were ready for it. Needless to say, we will not be back. The unfortunate part is I feel they have potential based on the food, but lack significantly in service and quality. read more

Very good food. Daughter got the chicken salad. ..huge, fresh, really really good. I was envious. $9 fair. She first ordered a chicken dish with Pablano pepper sauce that was so hot it was inedible, even to me who likes hot fid. They did replace it although the waiter seemed a little reluctant at first. The replacement dish was cheaper but we were charged for the first dish anyway. I got the Texas fajitas. $14.50. Also really good, huge portion. Son got the special steak. Didn't disappoint. Not a scrap on his plate. About $16. Other daughter got the taco salad. I'd pass on that in the future. Kind of soggy, not enough lettuce and missing the guacamole. When we asked the waiter he says they are out of it. First, he should have told us this upon ordering an item with guacamole. Second, what mexican place runs out of guacamole on a Saturday night? Last dish was the enchiladas supreme. Four different kinds. Was on the door as a $9.50 special but we were charged the menu price of $10.50. Too tired to complain. We order 2 of the medium margarita's. $9.99 which was a bargain for the size. Without the overcharges, the missing guacamole and bad taco salad would have given 5 stars. read more

To start off, the food was pretty good. I ended up ordering the cheeseburger with fries because my boyfriend really likes Mexican, and I really don't. I thought for 8$, the food was pretty well proportioned, but the fries were a bit stingy i would say. The lady was nice, but when walking to the table she made a very visible id say 'stank face'. It made all of us very uncomfortable. She also forgot our Queso, and my strawberry daiquiri didn't come until 10 minutes after my rest of my family got theirs. She did apologize for both, and even after i told her forget the Queso she brought it anyways. I really didnt want the Queso anymore because it had been to long to really be an 'appetizer ' hence the fact my meal came 3 minutes after i had received the Queso. One more thing that really made me table feel a little bit uncomfortable is the fact that the waitress filled up our water with warm water that had been sitting there since we had got there. It wasn't a huge deal, but i had told her no and shaken my head no but she filled up my glass with regular water in it, with warm water. I'd also like to point out you can see through the stalls in the womens bathroom, there was no toilet paper in my stall, and the paper towel dispenser didn't work. The service was fast and friendly. Unfortunately, there was an off putting musty smell when we came in. But, the food was delicious and made us forget about the smell. It has been quite humid, so that likely contributed. The decor is a bit off, but you know you are in a Mexican restaurant with the bright colors. They were very friendly with the kids and there is a kid's section on the menu. There are also a lot of salad options for those not wanting just heavy Mexican. The beans and rice were very tasty on their own as well. We definitely want to come back to try more of their extensive menu! read more

Visiting some friends in the area... They brought us here. The salsa and chips were ok, service was decent. The food however, was lacking. I ordered chimichangas. The chicken tasted like it was fresh but the chimis were smother in gravy. Gravy? Where's the cheese that was on the menu? Queso, por favor!!! I thought I had ordered Mexican, not Thanksgiving. Whatever this gravy was tasted like turkey gravy. It was terribly salty. Picking the chicken out of the chimi, it still tasted pretty salty on it's own. Dousing it in sour cream helped disguise it. The refried beans were pretty good. I didn't bother eating the guacamole. Other ordered veggie dishes, which they enjoyed but I could see how greasy they were. I live between DC and Baltimore. I suppose I am just spoiled by the amount of great Mexican eateries there. This same dish in my local spot contains chimichangas that are twice as large, queso that's seasoned with amazing peppers and costs $2 less for dinner (and the cost of living where I am is quite higher by comparison) I don't know what else the locals here have to compare against, but if you ever get out of town and try a great place, this review will make more sense to you. read more

Service. Very very poor. We were extremely rushed by our waiter who spoke very little English and breathed down your neck when trying to take your order. And turned out he was the manager. But the food was amazing! True Mexican food. Which is very hard to find this far North. But very good and reasonable prices. Would I go back? Yes, because I know what I want when I go and I'll have my order ready. Overall, I wish the food wasn't so good or I wouldn't go back. read more

Finding good Mexican food in the Southern Tier is next to impossible, so I was somewhat pleasantly surprised at how good most of this was. However, their margaritas are easily the worst I've ever had - straight out of a cheap bottle of blue mix and pretty much unthinkable. Service is also on the absentminded side. After spending some time at the glass museum we decided to have a quick lunch. The food is authentic and delicious (though it is a little spicy). The best part had to be the cheese quesadillas which are to die for and by far the best I have ever had. Also, we tried the lime Mexican soda they had there which was also really good and refreshing. The service was fairly good and the waiter was very friendly and welcoming. Overall it was a great experience. read more

The absolute worst service I've ever had here! It was my son's birthday dinner choice and the server talked down to him because he didn't order the way he thought he should. This was after the server brought the wrong food to him. So rather than apologizing for getting the order wrong he blamed my son. Then, another server gave my order to a woman at another table and when she realized it wasn't hers, the server took it from her and brought it to me....are you kidding?! Some people might not have a problem with that, but I would appreciate my food brought to me....not passed around the restaurant. I won't be returning. read more

I have visited this restaurant a dozen times so far. They are very consistent in their offerings. The food is quite good, but it has the feeling of being slightly overcooked. I recommend the fajitas as they seem to be the freshest fare. Their drink selection for non-alcoholic beverages is very limited. The atmosphere is a little grungy with the plastic table cloths but not dirty. With that being said, their prices are not pretentious; you get a large portion for the price and we always have leftovers to bring home. Their service is incredibly fast (see above about the food being overcooked, its possible that it sits on the heat for a bit) and friendly. I have small children and they love going here, the staff is very friendly with little ones. The children's meals are bland enough to not elicit any dislikes. read more

If I could give this a minus star rating, I definitely would! The food was terrible...not to mention the rude waiter. More importantly, if you have Celiac disease...STAY AWAY. After being reassured numerous times my lunch was gluten free, I was very unhappy to find myself suffering with symptoms of being exposed to gluten almost immediately after we left the restaurant. The level of exposure was so high that not only did I suffer from digestive issues, I had a severe headache, extreme itchiness, and overall feeling of being sick and bloated for days! We were told by other family members Fiesta Brava had excellent Mexican food. Knowing that they knew what they talking about, we took guests there today. Corning has finally gotten an excellent Mexican restaurant! We love good Mexican food and usually wait until we are back in Arizona to do so. Great service and food combined with a delightful atmosphere and gently played music in the background. Will make many return visits when back here for the summers. Really disappointed.. Service wasn't bad, salsa and chips were good. Food was just okay. When we got there we greeted by a man with a fly swatter in his back pocket (appetizing..) two tables had plates with food on them from the night before. the only good thing I can say about this place is that it has a roof so you don't get wet and a floor to stand on was the most dried out meat I have ever eaten dried up rice chips that they recycled from other tables and put a few new ones on top sugar water drinks about as mexican as a taco bell oh yea when the managers phone rang the volume was so loud the entire restaurant went silent place is good for a laugh and that is about it !!! read more

was very excited to give this place a try ive been desperately trying to find a good mexican place up here. it definitely doesn't live up the the ratings its far from bad in my opinion but not amazing either. im a little strictly on my opinions of a mexican places because where i fell in love with the food you got great food lots of it and i rarely ever spent more then 20 bucks for 2 people. the portions were ok but for the price i wish i had gotten more ill definitely go for lunch next time since the exact same meal i got is $4 cheaper. all in all it was good i did really enjoy the burrito sauce it was very good. the burrito i had the filling was decent not super flavorful but good. the free salsa was good the last two places i went to weren't nearly as good so that was a big plus. i was not impressed with the service at all it was one of those things were they went through the motions but didn't really care felt very half hearted. no one acted like they wanted to be there at all i don't know if i caught them on a bad day or what. read more
