I've been to this establishment a number of times and the food is usually very good. My favorite meal was the "burro al pastor." On 9/5/23 had lunch and while the food was good the flavor was not as robust as previous times. What made this lunch date worse was the service. The individual who served seemed like we were a bother to him. He asked us if our meal was okay but was half way across the room when he did it and when we were done didn't ask if we would like dessert but dropped the check on the table. read more

Mmmm! I love Garcia's. The food is delicious and reasonably priced with generous portions. What I like is that in addition to regular Mexican fare, they serve vegetarian and American dishes as well. The wait staff are friendly and accommodating. It can get busy and that's when you might not see your server for awhile. I prefer to go in the afternoon when it's not very crowded. I will say the salsa was sadly weak, the sopapillas were large flat cinnamon crackers, and the flan was too dense. But those were minor criticisms. I mention only to recommend improvement. I was in the area for business purposes, and my coworker and I decided we wanted Mexican food. The facilities are underwhelming. There was an unpleasant, musty smell upon entering the building. We were greeted immediately and ushered to a table. Chips and salsa were promptly delivered, and our drink orders were taken and delivered quickly. We placed our food orders. I had fajitas, and my coworker had the carne asada tacos. She said the tacos were "okay," but the meat was over cooked. The fajitas portion was HUGE, but the food was not particularly well seasoned. Some of the shrimp seemed a bit undercooked, and the beef and chicken were tough, dry, and over cooked. Overall, the service was great, but the food was subpar. Oh Garcia's, I miss you! The food here is simply authentic Mexican fare. The flavors are clean and the dishes are well composed. Don't get me wrong: the plates aren't a work of art, but your tongue will thank you for not judging an enchilada by its cover! Ok, I just got done eating at Garcia's and I haven't been more dissatisfied in a restaurant on years. They sent out a coupon which they didn't honor stating ot wasn't for their restaurant ( it most definitely was) and they always pad the bill and charge for things you didn't order. Yes the food is good but it's not worth the substantial decor and usually crappy service. I'll drive to Old Mexico in Ithaca because it's worth it. The food was absolutely horrible. It was not super busy and took 23 minutes for a table of 3 to be served. It was burnt so badly it was charred or was just gross. There was marinara sauce and burnt steamed vegetables with the Garcia Special and the steak wasn't cooked as requested. The flautas were so over fried you couldn't chew them. The pollo norteno was so burnt it tasted like nothing but char. The service was almost just as bad. My water glass sat on the edge of the table for almost 15 minutes to be refilled. The waiter walked by it 4 times. I had to point it out and ask for a refill when was asked if we needed anything. This all for a ridiculously high price. We will NEVER be going back again. We've lived here 13 years and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal at Garcia's. I've probably eaten there 100 times. Their new location is definitely an upgrade over the bowling alley/Home Depot Orange decor at the old location. We've eaten once at the new place, but with COVID we have decided to stop eating in person at restaurants. Sadly, they aren't currently doing takeout since they moved to the new spot. Hopefully when COVID is less of a problem they will resume takeout service. Anyway, this is the best, most authentic, and most consistent Mexican in the area. If you want something different, I recommend the Tlayuda (pizza) or the choripollo. Their cheese sauce is great, so anything that includes it is also a good choice. Honestly, the service can be a little spotty, but I find that to be the case with all restaurants in this area. read more
