Need to come back for more Minus a star cuz they don't do side order of green fried platanos- server nearly had a hardware malfunction when I asked for a side , just a side It it's ok , it's my people and I know how taking them off the track even for a second melts the motherboard' The carne asada had loads of flavor

She then proceeded to clean the table. I was able to order (mostly à la carte items) First plate came out I devoured the plantains (maduro) with the salad and fried cheese (yummy.) Then came the pupusa. This was okay. I ordered the revuelta ( oro & cheese) but it appeared it did not have any cheese. I have been here many times before, and the pupusas have been cheesy, so not sure what happened yesterday. I hope the next time I go, it is more cheesy.

Lots of light, easy to find, nice friendly restaurant. Parking is a little difficult, park in the Walgreens lot or on the street

I ordered the tacos and they were the type of tacos when you see the price, you're like GYADAMN. But then when you take that first bite, you're like oh these are actually fire. Inside, with the white floor and black interior made this place feel hella fancy and we came in like super casual clothes lol. They got good food, drinks, and vibe. Just come through at least once and decide for yourself

The happy hour menu was pretty awesome as well. If you aren't interested in food but looking for a place to get drinks, the cocktails here are also on point. South San Francisco is a stones throw from where we live and even though there are some solid casual spots, we don't find too many places in this area where you can get amazing food, craft cocktails, and this kind of ambiance. With that being said we were ecstatic to discover this hidden gem. It checks all the boxes!! We ordered the Caesar salad, pozole, burger & Fries, and beef tacos from the happy hour menu. Everything was so good and I am not just saying that! The Caesar salad came served with slices of avocado. Not traditional, but absolutely delicious and nicely dressed. The burger was beautiful and juicy and cooked to perfection. It came served with those french fries that have that extra layer of crispiness.on them. I call them 'next level fries' because that's what they are. My favorite thing, hands down, were the tacos. Oh my God... the tacos!! There are a lot of great Taquerias in the Bay Area but this place can contend. I'm serious. Perfect crispy tacos that came served with this beautiful salsa verde. Truthfully we ordered so much food but the tacos were so good we got another order of them. I ordered a Paloma and it was the perfect drink to go with my tacos. This was our first and only time eating here, but this will definitely be a regular spot for us. I hope moving forward this place stays as wonderful as our experience was tonight. It's such a joy to have an experience like this that doesn't require us driving to San Mateo or San Francisco. It's about time we had places like this in this area. The staff that helped us was also wonderful. The young lady who served us was friendly and helpful with the menu, the bussers were great and there was another lady who checked in on us and helped us throughout the meal. Great service, great staff, terrific food. Please keep up the good work.

Gave La Mar a second chance as last time the food was really good but the service left lots to be…read moredesired. This time we were a party of 4 and were celebrating a birthday which they acknowledged and thoughtfully wished happy birthday to our celebrated guest. This time I ordered the ceviche limeño, which was a mix of shrimp, white fish, octopus and calamari served with crunchy corn, soft corn and sweet potato marinated in a delicious sauce with a hint of spice (the base tasted similar to leche de Tigre) Other guests in my party ordered the whole roasted cauliflower with eggplant puree, and the rice with shrimp. Both were delicious. I tried two new alcohol-free drinks: guayaba healer (guava, lime and tajin) and the red October. Both were tasty, however for non alcoholic drinks $12 is a little steep, particularly for the red October which is served in a fluted cup and has a lot less volume than the other non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered two desserts, both were excellent: the suspiro loco with cotton candy and Dulce de leche, strawberries and crumbled graham cracker-like cookies, was crazy and fun, yet well balanced. The second dessert was the tapioca tropical, which is a tapioca pudding with toasted coconut, raspberry and ice cream, which was not too sweet and quite delicious. We got a complimentary coconut tres leches for the birthday guest, which was also delectable. As for the service, it was definitely improved compared to last time, yet not seamless. We were sitting inside this time and had a bigger party. Our waitress was very friendly, however one of the items we ordered never arrived and I had to point it out to them when the check arrived. She apologized and they took it off right away. One of the hosts came to check in on us a couple of times throughout the meal which was much appreciated. Our water glasses were kept full, however it still seems they are understaffed. If I could give half stars they would get 3 1/2 but since the food has been consistently good I guess 4 starts will do for now.

I ordered the butterfly pea mocktail which we refreshing abd I loved the colors. It contains: seedlip garden, butterfly pea & ginger cool water lime, agave, ginger beer mint. We ordered some appetizers which included: Limena Causas, Vegana Causas, Yucas, Fried Potatoes, & Plantain Chips. For our main they ordered 2 Lomo Saltado's for the table. Unfortunately I wasn't able to partake due to my gluten allergy so I ordered a special option on the specials menu...scallop cerviche which was decadent. I've never seen scallops as an option for cerviche and it did not disappoint. Other than squeezing the 4 of us on one side of the table which should've only had about 3 of us especially since I was between 2 guys. The food is fresh and delish. It's expensive but worth it if you love seafood! Yum.
