I've been watching Mattias videos for however long he's been posting videos of his dad's restaurant Bravazo and I've been dying to come here ever since! Bravazo is located in downtown Pleasanton, there are plenty of free parking in the area. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating! I stopped by on a Friday and with it being 70+ degrees, I opted for sitting inside! I ordered the passion fruit juice and aji de gallina. The juice was so refreshing on a nice day like this. The food did take some time and they offered me a beef empanada while I waited! Both the empanada and aji de gallina were very flavorful. Even the inside of the potato was very seasoned. My guest got the pan con chicharron and thought the meat was very tender and tasty. The staff were great especially Cesar!! Bathroom is located in the back outside so you'll need to ask the staff for the key. Overall, great atmosphere and great food! Can't wait to come back! read more

Vibrant flavors and great outdoor dining in downtown Pleasanton! Rating: 5 out of 5 stars We were just walking around downtown Pleasanton planning to visit another Latin-American restaurant when we came across Bravazo. Its vibrant menu immediately caught our attention. Purely by coincidence, we also wanted to listen to some live music, and to our luck, there was live jazz playing right across the street at Nonni's Bistro. We decided to eat at Bravazo and enjoy the music at the same time. I really like when a menu is simple and concise because it gives you the feeling they make sure every dish is cooked to perfection, and they certainly delivered on that! Here is what we ordered: Bravazo Paella: Beautifully presented and served in a massive quantity. It consists of shrimp, mussels, chicken, beef, and chorizo in a deeply flavorful broth. Everything about this dish was fantastic, every bite delivered, and it came with a generous portion of meat and seafood. Peruvian Ceviche (Salmon, Medium Spicy): Made with fresh salmon marinated in lime, cilantro, onions, ginger, sweet potato, and Peruvian corn. It was really good, though I could have done without the spice, so next time I will order it mild. The corn kernels were huge compared to our local corn; we asked about them, and the staff mentioned they ship them directly from Peru, which was a wonderful authentic touch. Custom Salad: Even though a salad was not on the menu, we asked our server if they could accommodate our request, and they happily did! It was a very nice salad that hit the spot, featuring a great portion of avocados, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red Swiss chard, and feta cheese. Service Highlight: They have a server, but the owner also helps out at the tables. It was very thoughtful of the owner to make sure we got fresh new plates for the Peruvian ceviche so the flavors would not mix with the paella. We were so glad we did that because it let us fully appreciate the distinct taste of the ceviche. Practical Details & Atmosphere: Portions and Ordering: When we were seated, the server was very polite and helpful in explaining the portion sizes. He mentioned the paella was big enough to keep two people happy for a while, but we might want a bit more later. We ended up ordering the ceviche midway through our paella, and guess we were hungry because we ended up cleaning all our dishes completely. Parking & Seating: The weather was perfect for outdoor seating, and with the live jazz playing across the street, the meal felt even better. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. We were able to park a few blocks away for a short, easy walk. Surprisingly, the downtown stretch was not too busy that Saturday evening, making parking a breeze, though it can get tough if a local event is happening. Just came back from lunch at Bravazo today. We went at 11:30 AM on a weekday, hoping to beat the rush since the place has been quite the talk of the town recently. We were seated right away, though the paella unfortunately wasn't available on the lunch menu as the kitchen needs quite a bit of prep time to make it from scratch. The ambience was relaxing and welcoming. I felt right at home--it isn't overly fancy or flashy, just clean, well-kept, and comfortable enough to fully enjoy a hearty meal. There is also plenty of outdoor seating that looked really inviting. We ordered the Pan con Chicharrón and Lomo Saltado--both were spectacular, especially for our first time trying Peruvian cuisine. Our meal quickly turned into a fun guessing game over the exact ingredients and spices in each dish. The Pan con Chicharrón was pure comfort food and would be even more satisfying on a chilly day. The accompanying chili sauce was bright and balanced, packing just enough kick without being overwhelming. The Lomo Saltado felt like a definitive Peruvian classic; the depth of flavor was truly unforgettable. From where I grew up, meaty entrees like these would feel filling and "chunky," but these 2 dishes we had at Bravazo felt lively, and lighthearted. Makes me wonder what other Peruvian dishes are like. Last but not least, our waiter, Carlos, was fantastic. He greeted us warmly the moment we walked in and was attentive throughout our entire meal. He patiently answered all our questions, shared great recommendations, and even went above and beyond to check with the kitchen to see if they could do the paella for lunch, which we truly appreciated. Superb Peruvian cuisine in downtown Pleasanton. Our daughter went to Peru this spring and wanted to share some of her culinary experiences with us, so we stopped by for a Sunday evening dinner. We were served ably by the courteous Carlos, who started us off with tasty ham and cheese empanadas (served with a superb spicy aioli), and refreshing guava and maracuya (passion fruit) mocktails. Unfortunately, they were out of chicha spritz, which our daughter was craving, and all other types empanadas - beef, chicken, veggie - were finished! Then we turned our attention to entrées, and ordered causa, pan con chicharrón, and aji de gallina. The causa was a visual treat, the crispy pork belly sandwich was my favorite item on the menu, and the shredded chicken and potatoes over rice was the most filling! Of course, we left room for dessert! They were again out of one of our daughter's favorites - the choco lucuma trifle - so we had to make do with alfajores and lucuma ice cream. These were delicious and were a wonderful way to end the meal. Total bill was about $150 before tip. We will definitely stop by again to try some of the menu items that were not available. Stopped by on Sunday at noon for lunch. I was looking forward to trying their empanadas that day and I was disappointed to hear they were out. I wasn't sure if the waitress said they were out of them for the day or just none at all that Sunday. Regardless, We decided to proceed with the fish of the day ceviche as a starter and I ordered the Peruvian turkey sandwich. The wait was a little long but I like to tell myself it's probably because it's fresh. Once the food came out I was relieved with how fresh and lemony the ceviche was. The thinly sliced onions with the crunch of the corn nuts and sweet potato was so refreshing. It was a light starter but the pieces of fish were pretty thick so I think it was worth the $27. My sandwich was better than I expected it to be. There were thick cuts of turkey with a spicy orange sauce and marinated sliced onions. I honestly forgot about the empanadas towards the end of the meal. The staff were super welcoming and kind so I will definitely be back and make it my mission to score some empanadas. read more

Coming in for dinner service, we started with the Pan con Chicharron, a sandwich with a filling of crispy deep-fried pork, picked onions, sweet potato, and aioli on a crusty baguette. The flavors of this sandwich were delicious, though the pork was a little too greasy and sinewy. Curious about their creative dishes, we next had the Bravazo Paella, an iron skillet of short-grain rice cooked with aji amarillo sofrito, fish broth, saffron, shrimp, mussels, chicken, beef, chorizo, green beans, carrots, and peas--a one pot meal that was great for sharing. This was our second visit to Bravazo on Main Street, and it definitely didn't disappoint. If you're looking for a spot that balances quality food with impressive efficiency, this is it. I am really committed to try and review all the great food places in downtown Pleasanton as there are many unique cuisines from all over the world that we have available to try out with many of them not being chains so its a great place to try out different foods from around the world. One such spot is Bravazo specializing in Peruvian cuisine, which I am not intimately familiar with so excuse my ignorance as this was my first experience with this type of food but if this is what I can expect I am moving Peru up my list of places to go for a food vacation! As with many of the restaurants in this downtown row of places you the interior is smaller and more intimate but definitely has a bright and clean look to it. Seats a max of 40-44 people inside I believe so it can fill up pretty fast but very comfortable and lively environment and spaced out well so you will not feel cramped which is a plus. Friendly server gave her recommendations as we were new to this place and unfortunately were out of some of the most popular items so get in earlier if you want the full selection. Was especially sad they were out of ALL their empanandas as that was the only item I was familiar with and wanted to try so they must be awesome and I need to try them out next time. You get some complimentary snack of roasted corn kernels while you check out the small but broad ranged menu. These are a great snack and I need a bag of these at home immediately now. Decided on the Aji de Gallina (shredded chicken with yellow pepper sauce) and the Pan Con Asado (tri tip sandwich). Added a fresh Passion Fruit juice which seemed to be 100% pure passion fruit and was delicious. Our dishes were served relatively quickly and we were able to dive into both with great anticipation and our expectations were exceeded immediately! The Aji de Gallina was amazing and I never knew yellow pepper could be the base of such a light but still complex flavor. Paired amazing with with the chicken and potato slices and the garlic rice was perfectly seasoned and not overpowering in anyway. Such an amazing combination of flavors and perfectly balanced so highly recommend this as a "safe" dish for those who are apprehensive on what to tackle as a first Peruvian dish, at least in my opinion. The Pan Con Asado was a meaty boy of a big sandwich and packed to the brim with meat and an assortment of veggies but the meat was the star of the show for sure. The lower bagguette base was crushed on the weight of the meat, has browns veggies and sauce and that was the only thing I wished was a bit more stable in terms of actually being able to lift the sandwich and take a proper bite out of bit as it was, it sort of fell apart under the weight of its own magnificence and I was happy to fork and knife the rest of it. A top tier sandwich but I was sort of searching for more hash browns to compliment the meat. The tri tip was more of a pulled pork type texture though so I was a bit confused but still loved every bite. Prices were fair for the food portions you get and friendly staff round out the this great lunch/brunch spot. I think I love Peruvian food just based on this first experience so far. I cannot wait to get back to this place and try some of the other dishes and hopefully get there early enough to try some Empanadas! read more

We came in on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't very packed. I did see a video on this restaurant through tik tok so I was excited to try. The breakfast hot link burrito was yummy with the melted exterior cheese. I do think the hot link was a great pairing. It was a huge burrito so we had it for another meal. The empanadas were good and packed with flavor but it contained raisins and I'm not too big of a fan of those in savory dishes. Everyone here was really nice despite being overloaded with orders and customers! We ordered the pan con chicharron and fettuccine with lomo saltado. The pan con chicharron was soooo good!! The perfect sandwich with a nice pepper sauce on the side. I loved the sweetness of the yam paired with the savory meat and cut with some tangy red onions!! This really hit the spot and I would come back just for it! Next up, the fettuccine with lomo saltado has a cheese sauce that wasn't too overpowering. I was surprised because I was expecting the cheese flavor to smack you in the face, but no it was subtle, yet rich. The best part of the lomo saltado next to it had to be the tomatoes because how in the world was it grilled so well, soft and bursts with flavor in your mouth?? The meat was cooked to a good medium, wasn't tough, and the sauce pulled it all together. For info purposes, the kitchen was a little backed up so there was a wait. First time trying Peruvian food last Saturday for a late lunch and everything was fantastic!! Carlos was our server and was very friendly and had excellent recommendations. We ordered the pan con chicharron, ceviche with red snapper as the fresh fish of the day, and the lomo saltado. For dessert we had the choco-lucuma trifle, per Carlos's recommendation. The pan con chicharron was my favorite! I love the combination of the slow cooked pork paired with the aioli, salsa, and sweet potato inside. The bread was toasted perfectly and was so good! I really love the taste of fresh bread! The hot sauce also really enhanced the flavor! Carlos brought us extra hot sauce because I mentioned how good it was!! (I also bought a bottle of hot sauce at the end of our meal because I loved it so much) The ceviche was fantastic! It is different from the kind of ceviche I am used to but in a good way! I love the added crunch from the corn nuts. The red snapper worked really well in this dish. The corn and sweet potato works surprisingly well in this dish. This was my boyfriend's favorite. Can't go wrong with the ceviche here! The lomo saltado is marinated filet mignon strips served with veggies and garlic rice. It was also very delicious!! I recommend you try the dish with a bite of everything at a time (rice, meat, veggies), trying the meat itself was a bit too much on its own. I forgot to ask if this dish had the option to customize its doneness, since I usually like eating steak medium rare. The meat was cooked medium well, but it was still really tender and delicious! The choco-lucuma trifle tastes like a dulce de leche mousse with chocolate fudge and a layer of a crunchy chocolate at the base. Loved the flavor combination! And it was sweet but not too sweet, which was perfect for us! I like that there is indoor and outdoor seating. They also have coffee and some pastries up front! Definitely recommend this place! All the dishes looked so good and I don't see a lot of Peruvian food in the Trivalley so definitely wanted to give this family ran restaurant a try :) What we ordered (ranked from fav to least): - Pan con chicharron $20 - Smash burger (not on the menu) - Empanada (beef) $7 - Causa $18 & Yuca a la huancaina $14 - Crispy breakfast burrito $20 (didn't try this, packed leftovers home cuz we were too full) We also tried the inka kola beverage which tasted like bubblegum and looked like Mountain Dew haha I would say def order the Pan con Chicharron!! All 3 of us liked it and ranked it as number 1. No wonder it has a star next to it on the menu. And the smash burger took us by surprise.. our server introduced it to us since it's not on the menu. No wait on a Saturday around 11:30am. Parking can be semi-tough because the Pleasanton farmers market is going on in the same area. Service was great and prompt! Easy to dine in or I believe you can just order to-go at the front. For the food, we got the chicharron breakfast sandwich and the breakfast burrito. The breakfast sandwich was great! I thought the meat wasn't super soft but it wasn't overly chewy. It had a slight crust to it. Sweet potato goes very well in the sandwich. The breakfast burrito was good but thought it would be better. Perhaps it was because we got it with chicken sausage, but it was missing something to give it the extra kick or flavor. I believe it'd be better if we added avocado and chicharron to it, but then that'd end up being $4 extra to make the burrito a whopping $24. Bravazo opened a storefront and its amazing! My other review was for their catering services. So i wanted to try out their restaurant. Its right in downtown pleasanton and there is plenty of parking behind the building. Food was tasty as always! For an appetizer we shared one empanada - which was mistake because we shouldve gotten two! They were crispy and yummy. We had the peruvian ceviche which was super tangy and fresh. This is a must get and is one of my favorites! The lomo saltado was very flavorful and the butter rice was chefs kiss! You can tell the chef puts a lot of thought into all the dishes. Service is kind, friendly and fast! The new restaurant also has outdoor seating for warmer days. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone craving authentic peruvian food! read more

This is a cute small cafe that recently opened in Downtown Pleasanton. They've refreshed the interior to very simple and clean decor, maybe a bit too plain and on the verge of being bland. Service is adequate. And the menu options are as well. I am perplexed at this restaurant being classified as serving up Peruvian dishes when I find nearly half or more of the menu is typical American fare. My friend I ordered Avocado Toast and a Scramble. There was nothing notable or exceptional. With prices being average and everything else being as it is, I am not sure what may bring me back again. read more

We sat at one of the outside tables since the weather was quite nice and it wasn't as loud, and we got to see a lot of cute dogs walking by on Main St. FOOD // + PAN CON CHICHARRON: great flavors, yummy toasted bread with a crunchy crust, (mostly) juicy pork, and roasted sweet potato. My only, minor complaint is that some pieces of the pork seemed over-fried to the point that they were hard. + PERUVIAN TRI TIP SANDWICH: got good reviews from D! Visit & First Impressions Came across this new spot on Instagram and was excited to see a new Latino-owned business in downtown Pleasanton! We happened to be in the area and decided to pop in for a to-go afternoon coffee. The girl taking our order was friendly, and the coffee menu was simple and easy to navigate and she answered our questions. Drinks We ordered the Pumpkin Spice Iced Latte. They only offer one size, made with 4 pumps of pumpkin spice syrup. I asked for 2 pumps, and my sister got the full 4. At first glance, the lattes looked a bit too light in color, she agreed, but I thought maybe they'd still taste okay. Unfortunately, the espresso flavor was mostly lost in the amount of milk used in both our drinks. I would've preferred they use more ice instead of extra milk to make the cup look "full." As for the pumpkin spice flavor, it just wasn't there. My sister's latte (made with the full 4 pumps) tasted sweet but didn't really taste like pumpkin spice. I had a sip, and yeah it wasn't there. Mine, with 2 pumps, was even fainter but with a hint of sweetness (how I like). Not sure what syrup they're using, but the pumpkin spice flavor needs some work. Space & Service The restroom is located in the back outside, and there's only one, so there was a bit of a line. I think the owner was there, he seemed very busy, which is great. At one point, he was by the counter and I asked him if they had a trash can (for my straw wrapper) and he gestured me to hand it to him to throw away, and he didn't make eye contact or say anything, which felt like a missed opportunity to make us feel welcome for having came in. It would also help to add a trash can near the exit so people can toss wrappers or napkins easily. I didn't see one, which made it a little awkward to figure out where to throw things away. Overall I really wanted to love this place and support a new local, Latino-owned business, but the coffee fell short and the experience felt a bit impersonal. They're a new business after all so hopefully, with time and a few tweaks, it'll improve. I'll give it another shot down the line and try their food. read more

Peruvian stamp of approval for this bravazo(Peruvian slang for awesome) new restaurant in the heart of downtown Pleasanton! As we Peruanos say, eso! We celebrated my brother's birthday during our first visit. There were 8 of us and we ordered from the breakfast/brunch menu(offered until 11:30am). Most of us ordered the fresh sweet chicha morada, the pan con chicarron(aka one of the world's best breakfasts) or its sister, the Peruvian turkey sandwich. Both sammies were made with that wonderful Bravazo sauce. We all ate everything on our plates. I loved the chic ambiance, the beautiful photo prints, and the colorful video of Peruvian landscapes. Gracias to all the wonderful servers. They checked in on us frequently though it was a busy morning. We will definitely be back for lunch offerings. read more

Bravazo! Welcome to Main St and congratulations on your new opening! How exciting to have a Peruvian cuisine addition to downtown Pleasanton :) They are located right across from Alberto's Cantina with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. What a shame they close at 3:30pm and we can't visit them all day long! Chai Latte ($6) and Cappuccino ($5) were excellent, would get again with a pastry next time. Pan Con Chicharron ($20): Oh oh oh...that crispy slow cooked pork is to die for. I only tried one bite from my husband's sandwich and it was the first time I wanted his order lol Crispy Breakfast Burrito ($20): Don't get me wrong, this hit the spot too! They managed to fit a lot in the cheese crusted tortilla and I accepted the mess as soon as I went in :P Comes with their signature hot sauce which I liked! Adding the aforementioned chicharron is an extra $2 and that is 100% worth it, even if I didn't do it ha! Perfect cafe for brunch dates solo, with friends, family, all the like. Ten out of ten stars! What in the world!!?! I was there for the lomo, but then the ceviche stole my heart. Stopped by a Sunday and was quickly greeted and ushered to my seat. Of course had the lomo anddd Carlos (what a champion!) also recommend the ceviche, which I had indeed been eye hustling. PHENOMENAL! PHENOMENAL! SIMPLY PHENOMENAL. Lomo was stellar!! Super juicy and flavorful...alas I can't remember if it came with aji. As I was horking it down with such alacrity! And the ceviche was some of the best ive ever had. I ordered a hot link breakfast burrito for delivery and I'm so glad I did. The burrito is huge and packed with potatoes, eggs, cheese, and spinach. It comes with an orange sauce (that had a lime taste) and that was okay. I personally enjoy super hot sauce and this was mild. My husband really loved it though. Service in these smaller restaurants is usually good but this one specifically was exceptional. Servers were friendly and patient, and helpful. Food was amazing, I had the Pan Con Chicharron and Peruvian cookie, both insanely good. Sandwich was amazingly textured and thoughtlly crafted in flavor, and cookie was light, airy, and had a great light caramel flavor. Probably the best cookie i've had in my life. Prices are fair for what you get, it's amazing! Finally I have to say the atmosphere is great, just a really amazing, clean space. Everything felt really clean and taken care of. I am a sucker for a good mom and pop restaurant and boy did this restaurant exceed my expectations! The food is absolutely delicious! And I LOVE that you have the option to sit down inside and out OR grab your food to go. (They have the empanadas already cooked and ready to go!) Looking forward to coming back with my mom for breakfast to try the breakfast burrito. Weeknight visit had easy parking steps away from the entrance. Fairly empty restaurant that day so had choice of seats. Attentive service but that's not hard with fairly empty restaurant. Empanadas had flakiest empanada crust I've had. Missed taking pictures of the pair. Paella was decent. Not one of the ones where you'd get crispy rice but the dish was hot and cooked in serving container as I was warned it was hot. I have eaten @ Bravazo several times before going to Peru. Always ordered the fried pork w/sweet potato & red onion sandwich. Delicious! Eat half, take half home. But now after visiting Peru for two weeks in May, I returned quickly to try the same artistically presented & delicious appetizer (mashed potato w/chicken) that we enjoyed in Peru. I was so excited to find Bravazo as a Peruvian, I usually have to drive to SF or the San Mateo area to find good Peruvian food, so having a spot closer to home is such a blessing. I actually found Bravazo through a TikTok video and decided to check it out, and I'm really glad I did. It was our first time visiting and we came during a busy time, so there was a bit of a wait for our food, but it was completely worth it. They start you off with canchita and water, which immediately made it feel authentic and welcoming. I ordered the passion fruit juice, and it was amazing you can tell it was freshly made. I also ordered the ceviche, added calamari, and asked for it spicy (because that's the only way ceviche should be eaten). From the first bite, the flavor was incredible fresh, bold, and perfectly seasoned. This is easily one of my new favorite places for ceviche. My mom ordered the pan con chicharrón, and the meat was super tender and flavorful. It paired perfectly with the hot sauce they gave her. What really stood out to me is that this is a family-owned restaurant, and the father is the chef. You can tell he truly loves what he does the care and passion really come through in the food. We'll definitely be coming back to try the lomo saltado and anticuchos. Highly recommend supporting this newer spot if you're craving authentic, well-made Peruvian food. read more

Finally got around to trying this brand new spot in Pleasanton for some breakfast! To get straight into it they have a very friendly staff who greets you as soon as you enter. It's a small family ran restaurant that you can tell is patriotic about their culture and can express it through the quality of their food! The interior is small but they made the most of their space available it's very beautiful design inside. Now for the food it was just me so I got a beef empanada and the Lima garden egg scramble The empanada was to put it simply, perfect. It had a boiled egg in there and the beef is so flavorful and tender I had to order some more to go and would even comeback for them alone. The egg scramble was loaded with peppers and mushrooms they were heavy handed with toppings and pretty big portion, the potato's were crispy and really like the sour dough. THE HOT SAUCE IS AMAZING DONT FORGET IT!! I was able to meet the owner/head chef and I can say that Mauricio and Luis are amazing guys with a work ethic that's lost nowadays. Bravazo is a perfect fit for the Pleasanton scenery and can't wait to comeback to try their dinner menu. read more

I gave it a try and left disappointed. I kept my order simple. I ordered one Chica Morada, which is the purple corn drink. Disappointing, the drink tasted more like the desert callled mazorra morada. It was over powered by the cloves and not enough purple corn flavor. To follow, I ordered a sandwich called pan con Chicharron.. Disappointed again, it was served on panini bread, It had mayonnaise on it . The topper of it all it was a crunchy yet fat filled por chop. The water was refreshing, their corn nuts were normal and the male waiter was kind. Save your wallets and tastebud's this place is an Americanized Peruvian restaurant, not approved by this Peruvian.
