As a disclaimer, I would like to start by saying that I did book the Viento Suite. I don't know if…read morethat is the reason we received the level of hospitality and service that we did, but I'm hoping that guests staying in standard rooms received the same spectacular experience! Due to having a suite, we had butlers Romero and Isaías, and they were both AMAZING. They were extremely attentive, and whatever we needed was never an issue. If we asked for something, it was done quickly and without hesitation. You honestly couldn't ask for better service. We also had access to the Aqua Club, which was open from 7 AM-10 PM and offered premium liquor along with light snacks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The waiters there--Daniel, Guillermo, and Eduardo--were great! They were even willing to make us our favorite shots that they had never heard of (blowjobs... Google it ), but they made them anyway! The lounge itself is super relaxing, with spectacular ocean views from the 5th floor. Now, onto the part we ALL care about the most: THE FOOD! There are several restaurants on the property to choose from, but our absolute favorite was Hidden Garden, which is Asian-inspired and run by Chef Mario. Everything we ordered was spectacular! Chef Mario even came out to our table, greeted us personally, and provided us with a menu curated by him--which I'm assuming was because it was my birthday... lol. They also have one paid restaurant called Carnivore, which is a steakhouse. Now, I am a self-proclaimed steakhouse snob, so I have to keep it real: for the price, it was mid. But for a resort steakhouse, it was good. The rest of the food throughout the resort was WAAYYYY better than expected--even the poolside grill and the food you can order directly to your cabana. Everything was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ribs they made at the poolside grill every day were FANTASTIC! The head of culinary at the resort, Mr. Germain, is definitely doing what needs to be done because the food was consistently impressive throughout the property. Now, the second-most important thing for most people: NIGHTLIFE. Personally, I came to relax, and the overall vibe of the resort definitely gives relaxation. However, they do have a nightclub called Egos, which stays open until 1 AM. I went once, but it wasn't really my music or my vibe. If you're looking for more of a nightlife scene, I would suggest heading into the city. BUTTTT... if you love a good pool party, make sure you hit the Moët Pool Party because BABYYYYYY... it was LIT! Overall, the resort exceeded my expectations. The service, food, atmosphere, and attention to detail made for an amazing experience, and I would absolutely consider coming back!

However, what truly struck us both this time was the incredibly warm treatment we received. A hotel is only as great as its staff, and the team here is what makes it special. We booked a club-level oceanfront room, which included butler service. Our butler, Arturo, absolutely came through for us. He handled our restaurant and cabana reservations ahead of time and was instrumental in securing a late check-out on our final day. The dining at this all-inclusive is superb. For breakfast, Siete offers a decent buffet, and our waiter, Helvert, was incredibly kind and always took the time to chat with us. For dinner, DB was our top choice for elegant continental dining, complete with a live pianist. The manager, Susana, provided excellent service, the food was delicious, and the chef even came out to greet us. We also loved Hidden Gardens, a relaxed Asian-fusion spot with tasty food, impeccable service, and another welcome visit from the chef. During the sweltering day, the pool is the main draw. Lalo was always helpful in securing our requested cabana. They cost an extra $115 each time, but they are completely worth it to escape the intense sun. Our pool waitress, Marysol, befriended us and knew exactly what non-alcoholic drinks to bring us. My wife is a big coffee drinker, so we frequently stopped by the included Starbucks, where David the barista gave excellent service and loved chatting with me about World Cup soccer. Also, a big shoutout goes out to Lady and Daisy at the spa. They gave my wife and I heavenly massages. However, the absolute heart of the entire hotel is Marco, the extraordinary juicer at Siete! His positivity, jokes, and contagious smile drew a long line of people waiting for his blended drinks every morning. Thank you to everyone for making our trip so memorable!

And what used to be "the world's largest telephone booth" would dominate ANY hotel in the USA. The people are overly friendly as long as you are not doing shady things. And with billboards offering services directly to your room and a hospital system where you only go if you're sick. The "grey area" is a pretty loose term. The entire hotel is illuminated with L.E.D.'s. The space is immaculate. It was 1/4 mile from the room to the lobby. The ballrooms and convention spaces are like a stadium. (Indoors or outdoors). The public bus arrives every (2) minutes and are often full. It is approximately .50 US to go 30 miles downtown. Just looking at the creative ideas a child could write a book . "This ain't Tijuana". The malls and beaches are protected by federal soldiers and the streets have checkpoints every mile. They obtain your information and destination. If something is off a militia is on alert. Every single person that works at this property is out of this world! Kind, helpful and always going above and beyond to make things memorable! There's always a little bit of construction because they're renovating, so plan accordingly by calling with them to make sure the areas you want open, are open. The new speakeasy is super cute. We visited there one evening and have the best time and service! This isn't the same restaurant where you go to breakfast but at night is a Spanish tapas restaurant. Everything was fantastic but all the food on the property is really great! We especially loved to order lunch by the pool. All the cocktails are fantastic, even poolside! Rooms are standard JW with some of them recently updated with the others on their way to being updated. Yes, there is a sort of a musty smell in the air, but that's in most hotels. It's a very hard to keep those highly humid rooms from smelling a little musty. You just have to get over it and enjoy the time outside the room. Pools are super cute and the beach area is nice. There is an adult pool that is open during the day but wish it was open later! Lots of places in walking distance if you decide to venture out of the property but why would you need to! Easy drive from the airport and to the downtown or for departure to Isla Mujeres. We did not go to the island this time but last time we booked everything through the hotel and they made it super easy.

Truly Felt Like Family -- An Unforgettable Stay at Hyatt Ziva Cancun…read more Where do I even begin? we traveled here for my birthday and from the very first moment we arrived at Hyatt Ziva Cancun, we were welcomed with such genuine warmth and kindness. The staff immediately made us feel at home, and that feeling continued throughout our entire stay. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful--spotless, incredibly clean, and very well maintained. The service was exceptional. A huge compliment to the management team for combining the high standards you expect from a Hyatt resort with the warmth, friendliness, and genuine hospitality of Mexico. That combination made our experience truly special. And the food! We tried every restaurant during our stay, and honestly, the food was fantastic everywhere. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the French restaurant, but we enjoyed every place we tried. The rooms were beautiful, extremely clean, and had amazing views. I was especially impressed that our room was serviced twice a day. There were also plenty of activities throughout the resort, and we had so much fun participating in them. But what really made this trip unforgettable were the people. A very special thank you to Leila Guirin, Diana, Virgilio Castillo, Odalys, Angelica, Alejandro, Roman, Diego, Jazer, Natasha, and especially the amazing Edgar, who seems to wear many hats! Edgar was not only a fantastic entertainer but became someone we truly considered a friend. These are just some of the names I remember. Unfortunately, I lost the list I had written because there were so many other wonderful people I wanted to recognize. But I can sincerely say that every single person we encountered was friendly, respectful, helpful, and genuinely kind. Now I understand why Hyatt Ziva Cancun refers to its guests as "family." It isn't just something they say in their messages or emails--they actually make you feel that way. We weren't treated simply as hotel guests; we were treated like welcomed friends and loved ones. That genuine Mexican hospitality, friendship, and warmth is something I will remember long after the vacation itself. Thank you to the entire Hyatt Ziva Cancun family for giving us one of the best resort experiences we have ever had. You made our stay phenomenal and truly unforgettable. We arrived as guests, but we left feeling like family. I cannot recommend Hyatt Ziva Cancun enough, and I sincerely hope we have the opportunity to return!

We spent a week at Hyatt Ziva Cancun celebrating my MIL's retirement with a group of 16.5…read morepeople--the .5 being our 8-month-old . We had an AMAZING vacation, but separating how much fun we had as a group from the resort itself, the resort was just okay for us. CHECK-IN/ROOM: Check-in was mostly smooth, although as UVC members they "upgraded" us from the ocean-view room I specifically chose to ocean front without asking. I care literally not at all about scenic views , so I would've preferred what I booked. The $12 bracelet room keys were convenient WHEN they worked. More than half our group had issues with bracelets/cards needing resets. Our Pyramid room was quiet and comfortable but dated. Our biggest issue was the crib. Despite requesting it before arrival and multiple times after check-in, it took hours. Eventually our concierge discovered it kept being sent to our originally booked room instead of our "upgraded" room. PROPERTY: Convenient layout, nice pools and beautiful water. Generally stroller-friendly, although elevators occasionally wouldn't go to our floor, leaving us carrying a baby AND stroller down stairs. FOOD: Our biggest disappointment--maybe 4/10. My family is full of foodies, and most things weren't bad quality, just bland and under-seasoned. La Bastille and Chevy's were our favorites, with Tradewinds' chimichurri getting an honorable mention. Dinner service was DREADFULLY slow. Two-hour dinners were common even with only 2-3 people. On the positive side, we rarely waited long to be seated, and Carla from Lorenzo's was wonderful helping accommodate our large group. Room service was fine, but dirty trays and half-eaten food constantly sitting in hallways and attracting animals wasn't my favorite. DRINKS: We had some professional drinkers , and overall drinks were good. Ariel and Guillermo at the swim-up bar were fantastic--funny, attentive and personable. They remembered us AND Cooper's little non-alcoholic drink order. Ariel even made us a shot that took literally 10 minutes and it was SO good. CABANA 5: Possibly the BEST decision of the trip. We rented it for six days. It's across from the swim-up bar but far enough away to avoid the crowd. The tanning pad was perfect for Cooper to "walk" through the water and for our floating card table/drinking games. With 16.5 people, the cabana became our home base and genuinely made the trip easier. Immanuel and Angel were our butlers. Immanuel was sweet but sometimes disappeared for long periods. Angel was AMAZING--fast, attentive and so sweet. They brought food/drinks and even grabbed food from the nearby Asian food truck. We had an issue with the included cabana facials and an employee repeatedly trying to determine who could use ours and when. Carlos, a manager, handled it wonderfully once we brought it to his attention, and Hugo was great about working around Cooper's naps. BABY: Traveling with our 8-month-old was easier than expected! Every restaurant had high chairs and usually something soft enough for him. Walkways were mostly stroller-accessible and many were shaded. Staff were SO sweet with him. We brought a sleep pod over his crib for naps, which I highly recommend if your baby needs darkness. SPA: Most of our group used it and everyone enjoyed it. My husband and I did 50-minute massages and the fish pedicure and loved both, plus the spa facilities. CLUB LEVEL: Included through UVC, so of course worth it for us . If paying substantially extra? Probably not. We enjoyed playing pool there at night, upgraded liquor and extra food options, but I personally wouldn't pay a large premium. ENTERTAINMENT: We planned most of our own activities, but played 11 a.m. volleyball religiously and OSCAR IS THE BEST! Hilarious, personable and SO much fun. Anything he was involved with around the pool seemed like a good time. SALES PRESENTATIONS: A few non-members were offered Leisure Cash for what they were told was approximately a 50-minute presentation. FOUR HOURS LATER, they were still there. If you attend one, do NOT make plans based on the quoted time. That huge difference left a bad taste in our mouths. WOULD WE RETURN? Honestly, probably not. That doesn't mean we had a bad vacation--we had an AMAZING time. But that had more to do with our group, the memories and some wonderful staff than the resort itself. There wasn't one catastrophic problem; it was an accumulation of dated areas, key/elevator issues, mediocre food, slow dinners, the crib mix-up and sales experience. For roughly the same price--or sometimes a little more--I think other resorts offer more, are newer/better maintained and have better food. Hyatt Ziva Cancun isn't a bad resort, and I can see why some families love it. It just wasn't the right resort for us to want to return to.

They don't have the fancy frappes or over-the-top drinks, but their "Special Coffee" (fresh coffee mixed with cinnamon and honey) is perfect. Simple, warm, and honestly better than anything blended. The staff was very friendly and tried to help with our request. The room was a junior suite with an ocean view. It was comfortable and our room attendant did a great job. The king bed was two beds pushed together, but with some magic by the wife we made it more like one and were very comfortable. You can get a single king bed in some of the rooms. We were there with friends and didn't want be separated so we stayed with that configuration. I would try and get a room on the west wing. It actually looks to the east and you don't get the extreme heat in the late afternoon that the east wing does. We ate at all of the restaurants and our favs were the Black and White Steak house and Krystal. The Italian restaurant off of the lobby was good for a quick slice of pizza at lunch time. The buffet is like it is on a cruise ship and was good for most of our breakfast seatings. After a few days gets a little old. The staff was super friendly and hard workers. There is a 24 hour refreshment spot, but the food is only so so. Just for a quick sandwich or fruit. They do have a beer tap and a few selections of liquor available there for self service as well. The pool and beach area had plenty of chairs and umbrellas. If you don't see any available just ask and they will make it happen if possible. My complaint about the pool would be they close at 7:00. One small pool stay open until 8:00. Way too early for an adult only. I suggest if you want to do excursions to go straight across the street to one of the stands. If you know what you want to do they are a much better deal, but be certain you know where you want to go. make sure and get transportation included in your excursion. Also in that area there is the Bamboo Spa. You can get a massage for less than half at the resort spa. They did a very good job and were very professional. Not a "happy endings" type of place. Tell them you will do the massage if they throw in the fish foot treatment. Sounds weird but it was pretty nice. This is all inclusive for food and drink. The drinks are pretty light and when you ask for something other than the house liquor I'm pretty sure it didn't happen all the time. The best is to ask for the drink with a shot on the side, or better yet go to the bar yourself and watch them make the drink. It was definitely better and i was assured to get the name brand. Over all I would recommend this RIU.

The staff genuinely treats you like family and makes you feel cared for from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. We made it to every restaurant during our stay, and the dining exceeded our expectations. Magna's tomahawk steak was phenomenal, but Basmati completely stole our hearts. It was hands down our favorite restaurant, and the food was a 15/10. We were talking about going back before we had even finished our meal. The service is what truly sets this resort apart. Amable went above and beyond every single day. She quickly learned who we were, remembered what we liked, and always took the time to chat with us and make us feel special. By the end of the trip, she felt like family. Saying goodbye was incredibly emotional. She gave me the biggest hug before we left and told us she couldn't wait to see us again in January. She truly made our vacation unforgettable. Joel was another standout. We bonded over our love of reading, but what impressed us most was the care he put into making each day special. Every morning, our daybed was perfectly prepared before we even arrived, with towels laid out and everything ready for us to relax. He remembered that we were celebrating our anniversary, and he and Raul surprised us with the sweetest towel art in our room to celebrate. After noticing how much I loved fresh coconuts, Joel started bringing one to me every afternoon without me even asking. It's those thoughtful little touches that turn a great vacation into an unforgettable one. Excellence Riviera Cancun continues to set the standard for what an all-inclusive resort should be. Between the exceptional staff, delicious food, beautiful accommodations, and the added benefits of Excellence Club, it's become our favorite place to vacation. The biggest compliment we can give is that we were already planning our next trip before this one ended. We'll be back in January, and I'm sure many more times after that. They were kind, attentive, and genuinely made our stay more enjoyable. Without them, this would have been a one-star review. The resort lures you in with the promise of an all-inclusive vacation, but the reality was incredibly disappointing. The food was some of the most unappetizing I've ever seen at a resort. Very little looked fresh or appetizing, and dining quickly became something we dreaded rather than enjoyed. The property itself is very dated. The rooms, common areas, and grounds all show significant wear, and many areas felt dirty or in need of repair. We even had cockroaches in our room. Air conditioning was either weak or nonexistent in many parts of the resort, making it uncomfortable to escape the heat. One thing they don't make clear when booking is that there are different resort access levels based on your wristband color. We had blue bracelets, while guests with black bracelets had access to noticeably nicer amenities and areas. It leaves standard guests feeling like second-class visitors. Cleanliness was another major issue. Guests frequently left trash around the property, and we were disturbed to learn on our last day that reusable cups were being rinsed in a brown sanitizing solution before being handed back out. If you stay here, bring your own insulated cup. My husband and I both came home sick with bad colds, and while I can't say what caused it, seeing the cup sanitation process certainly didn't inspire confidence. Another disappointment was the atmosphere. All of the pool bars closed by 6:00 p.m., and by around 11:00 p.m. the resort felt completely dead. Aside from the spring break crowd, there wasn't much energy or entertainment. Overall, this resort feels like it's surviving on its spring break reputation rather than investing in the guest experience.
