We decided to try Fiesta Mexicana in their 'new' location; had a mediocre experience in the old location and heard the new location was much better as far as food quality. As a gal that grew up extremely close to Mexico, I know all variations of Mexican food from TexMex to interior of Mexico cuisine. I ordered a variety combo that touted a taco, chalupa, enchilada and Chile relleno with beans and rice. The Chile Relleno was a pepper with cheese wrapped around a flour tortilla not battered and fried.. very bland tasting. The chalupa and taco (both hard corn tortillas) were placed on top of refried beans which rendered each a soggy mess. The enchilada had a significant amount of shredded chicken with no sauce on the inside and covered with cheese on the outside. Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the food. read more

Horrible. I've eaten there several times and never expect anything but mediocre but this was far worse. First, the assistant waitress brought salsa/chips/water and did not say one word to us, no eye contact, no hello or welcome and was wearing headphones. We gave her the benefit of the doubt, perhaps she didn't speak English? But no, she spoke fluent English to the next table. Our party of three ordered one soft drink and two skinny margaritas and we were never offered refills on soft drinks, water, or margaritas, all drink glasses were empty half way through our meal. We were never offered more chips or salsa either. My fajitas came out raw, a giant pile of onions and green peppers with a tiny bit of tough cooked chicken. I sent them back and asked them to cook them more and said normally they come out charred, sizzling and steaming. They brought them out more cooked, but still no steam or char, still undercooked veggies, chewy tough chicken and absolutely no flavor or aroma. The waiter was polite but never asked how our food was, didn't offer more drinks, dessert, to go box, or anything except finally the check. My daughter's tacos were super greasy and my other daughter's food was very bland but she ate it. Our check was $100 and I normally tip 20%+ for mediocre food/service but this time I left $10 tip. What a great restaurant! Superb! Best Mexican food we've had in Montana! Margaritas were excellent ( house); burrito Montana was full of shredded beef, beans, rice, and cheese with sour cream and guacamole; the shredded chicken taco salad was full of chicken, and the shell was fresh, crisp, and tasty. Worst customer service I've experienced at a restaurant in my entire life and I don't think anything can top this off. After a long day of wedding dress shopping alongside my sister, mom, and husband we decided to stop here for lunch. BIG MISTAKE. We pulled up to the restaurant and that should've been the first sign for us to leave. The outside looks a little creepy? We almost expected something scary to come out while we pulled open the huge heavy door they have at the entrance. It's not your typical restaurant, I'm not kidding, we were all a little creeped out and confused on whether we were at the right place or not. Anyways, we opened us the chamber door and to our surprise it actually looked pleasant, and well like a Mexican restaurant. So we walk in and there's a sign that says "please wait to be seated" So we wait And wait And wait 5 minutes later and we're still waiting......... 10 minutes later and we're still waiting. Just standing there. At the front of the completely empty restaurant. Now I know what you're all thinking, "why didn't you just leave?" I honestly don't know, maybe it was because I wanted to see just what kind of creepy service this place offered. I was hoping it would all go back uphill after we got seated but I was wrong again. So we finally got seated at the 12 minute mark. (I really wanted to write 20 minute mark because that's honestly what it felt like standing there in the middle of an empty restaurant after running around town all morning and starving, but I'll be fair) The girl seats us and does not even acknowledge the fact we just waited for over ten minutes while the entire restaurant was completely empty. She hands us our menus (which by the way are like 5 pages long- and if you don't know then now you know: a restaurant with 3+ pages on their menu is never a good idea) We start flipping through the menu and feel slightly overwhelmed by all the options so we decide to start with drinks. I ordered water (luckily they have water) My husband orders an Orange Fanta which is part of their menu and guess what... they're all out. Okay, a Mexican sprite? Anddddd they're out. Okay then he'll have water (that's the safe choice) My moms turn to order. She orders agua de Jamaica and THEY'RE OUT! So horchata it is for her. My sisters turn She wants a michelada with Pacifica The girl says "Oh we're out." My sister asks her to tell her what they do have, she says "Corona, Modelo, Budweiser, and Bud light" My sister tells her she's fine and will take water. The girl brings our drinks to our table and my sister lets her know she's decided on a drink. She wants a michelada with Corona. The girl plainly says "We are out of Corona" OMG. Okay so my sister will stick to water. The waiter does not apologize. Time to order food, I was originally going to get camarones a la diabla but decided that $20 for shrimp was probably not worth it so I'm on a mission to find the cheapest thing and it's a..... QUESADILLA!? $10!?!!!! I order a quesadilla my husband gets a burrito and my mom gets a chalupa. My sister has not decided so she takes our order and comes back later for my sisters order Our food comes back they all look great except my moms. It's completely different to what we're used to. My sister is ready to order she wants two different kinds of tacos but the waiter tells us that you can't pick and choose what you want to eat here, the items on the menu can not be changed or altered and she had to pick something from the menu. This is the last straw for us. We ask for to go containers and leave after paying a $60 bill. This place is a joke. We are definitely not coming back here. This is the real deal! I am biased toward enchilada dishes that use less sauce that is not tomato based, but more of a broth-based sauce as that's what I grew up on. It's a rare find and this was it! This was so good. Reminds me of my hometown family Mexican restaurant in Central California. We both ordered a simple combination with a taco and enchilada. Refried beans and rice were tasty. Rice was perfect - not too dry and not soggy. The plate sizes are huge! We both walked away leaving food on the plate because there was so much. Tried to order a michelada with pasifico beer (the beer they have advertised all over their restaurant) they were sold out. Tried to order it with Victoria, also sold out. Great! Moving on to food; tried to order 2 tacos of asada and 2 of spicy pork but apparently they couldn't make two tacos of two different kinds. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve two different kinds of tacos on one single plate. My family ordered and I needed some more time to think. The food was good. The waitress was pleasant. We ordered fajitas. I was charged an extra $3.00 for a sharing fee. Another $2 for extra salsa, which my waitress didn't tell me about. Never in my life have I heard of a sharing fee. When I questioned the waitress about the bill, she said it was for the extra plate. Apparently, the restaurant industry has hidden fees now. It's okay! Seated quickly, and with lightning fast service once our orders were placed, I had the Montana Burrito, with beef. The beef was ground and as another yelper said before me, tastes exactly like the beef you get at Taco Bell. I had heartburn for several hours afterwards. My boyfriend had the same thing but with chicken as his meat instead. No complaints from him. A little bummed-the service and speed at which we were served was great, and definitely make this place deserving of four stars, but the food took it down a notch. For my 500th review, it has to be Mexican food. My husband and I ate here two years ago and were impressed with the food, which is hard to do since we like to think our hometown in So. CA has the best. Our CA transplant friend who has lived in Bozeman for years assured us this place was great, and he was right. Even better, our visit here two years later was as good or better than our first visit with good service each time. Now, that is consistency. After inhaling two baskets of fresh chips and three types of salsa, our food arrived. Our friends knew to split a chile verde platter which is definitely enough for even three people and includes delicious whole pinto beans. I, of course, had a cheese enchilada and a chile relleno. The chile relleno had a perfect coating, stuffed with nicely melted cheese and a nice sauce. The cheese enchilada was just the way I like them, nice sauce, hot and cheesy. Of course my home town still has the best, but this is a solid choice when out of town. read more

The food and service were actually both fine. But what brings it down were the not one, but TWO different termites that crawled on the wall next to me ten minutes apart while I ate my meal. Thank goodness my friend, who isn't a wimp when it comes to killing insects, was with me, and she quickly jumped into action and killed them for me haha! The service was horrendous, took 15 mins to be served when the restaurant was far from busy. SEVEN MONTHS til they get their liquor license (so only wine and beer). Salsa had cheese in it?? Queso was decent, but that's about it. Food was horrendous. Taquitos looked more like a chimichanga. Rice overcooked. Beans were incredibly runny. Pork Verde burrito was butchered. Worst of all, the chicken tortilla soup was literally just broth, chicken, tortilla chips, and some avocado. Way overpriced for this quality of food. Was looking forward to finally going here, after they relocated to the new location. I have been to the Fiesta in Belgrade and it's decent so I figured this would be the same. I shouldn't have assumed. We were seated and placed an order. There were only 2 customers in the entire place yet I still had to remind the server several times for napkins and salsa. She finally brought napkins over. I ordered a children's grilled cheese with a side of cheesy beans (instead of fries). I also ordered the shredded beef nachos. When the kid's meal came out, I noticed it wasn't a "grilled" cheese but more of a cheese sandwich. The beans had no cheese. My child was so hungry she ate the food anyway. Finally, after a LONG wait, the nachos came out. They were chicken nachos. We had to leave so I ended up not eating at all. We have come to Fiesta Mexicana and never had a bad experience. The food is good, very large portions and friendly service. This places is the best American-Mexican in Bozeman, stay as far away from Santa Fe Red's as you can! At least the folks at Fiesta Mexicana are authentic and making it fresh and not just microwaving the food like Santa Fe Red's. The reason I say 3 stars is because it is probably the best in Bozeman, yes, but if you have had REAL and TRUE Mexican food in another all-star place, it is hard to give it more then 3, which hey! My favorite Mexican of all time! Everything is good! It's really hard to choose. I usually always get the arroz con pollo. Something about the tomato sauce mixed with cheese, rice, and onions is SO good! The quesadilla is great and same with the fajitas. Best Mexican food in all of Montana for sure!!
