I should've known better? Bozeman has never been great for Mexican (unless you're at a taco truck!), and Merry Piglets didn't change that. If you want bland, gringo dishes however, this is your spot!! (...Looking at my father). Unfortunately, I would choose Los Jarochos next time for similar outcome. (Note that they don't have alcohol though). Pretty standard menu, mixing the same meats, veggies and beans in various tortilla combos: burrito, fajita, enchilada, quesadilla. Couple other plated dishes. I got the carne enchilada based on my servers suggestion about how great the flavor of the carne was. (Spoiler: I didn't feel taste that, and it makes me a bit worried about what the other meats would've been like...) Pluses: modelo negra, margaritas and overall ambiance. Minuses: food was very bland (even sauces), expensive with no 'bang.' Three stars for service, booze and ambiance, otherwise would've been two, sadly. I would probably choose La Jarocohos next time, unless I was sticking just to happy hour. read more

I wanted to follow up on my previous review as the owner was very kind in remedying the salad issue. I have been to this restaurant multiple times, and usually, the experience is wonderful. This may have been a one-off experience. I will definitely be back! I just had the saddest $27 salad. I feel completely disappointed. The salad had very little greens (maybe a handful of chopped iceberg lettuce). The salad was mostly cheese. The $8 carne asada addition was burnt. With my $5 tip it was a $27 asada as I left the salad. read more

Our server sam was super attentive and friendly. He checked on us often, but not too often. Drinks and food were served super promptly. Parking can be touch and go but we had no problem on a week night. Bathrooms are super clean. The food and vibes are great. read more

Staff is all great, nothing bad to say about anyone working here. The food however is bland, it's what you'd expect if the furthest south you've ever been is North Dakota. The meats taste boiled, anything fried tastes like the beef tallow it's fried in, and all their salsas, guacamole, and sauces are bland. We even went as far as ordering fried ice cream which was just a ball of ice cream sitting in a fried shell covered in whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. Save yourself a trip and go get some Ramirez food truck on 7th and some Mexican ice cream a bit up the block. Only time I will be coming back is to see whatever new restaurant moves into this location. read more

Looking for some good Mexican food at a sit down restaurant in Bozeman and came across this Tex Mex place. This was just average and a bit bland. Not horrible. Fresh ingredients? Just not much flavor! I kept finding myself adding a bit of salt to my meal as well as the guacamole appetizer we ordered. It just felt like some flavor was missing. I'll start with the good. Staff is great. Margaritas are OK, but if you Order a Cadillac you will be better off. Food is not what it could or should be. Sides are always dry which makes me wonder how many times the beans have been reheated. Rice is a tad better but not what it could be. If you order tacos the filling is usually dried out. The steak fajitas and the grilled steak are better. But the kitchen really fails probably due to prep approaches. Any taco truck in Bozeman is better. read more

I love this place! We have been a few times! However last time we were there we had the best server! I believe their name was Rocky! You are in luck if they are your server! The margs are great! I recommend the strawberry one. The queso is great when mixed with salsa and is a large portion for the $ amount. Highly recommend the chicken enchiladas! Can't wait to go back! Average First of all the name sounds to me like it's supposed to be a barbecue joint. I was always told to name your business so people will know what you are before they get a chance to try it. This name Merry Piglets seems a bit off point. The food was average and not hot. Why can't food that comes from my kitchen in a restaurant be at least hot and I'm not talking about seasoning. Food was a solid 4/5+. Relatively similar to texmex in TX where we're from. Slight variation in flavors and ingredients, but pretty good! Queso was excellent. Salsa had good flavor but no heat. Street tacos were spicy and delicious. Service was very attentive and fast. Very friendly. 5/5 for service, for sure. Our waitress, Kelly, was great. We were in and out in 30 minutes which was perfect since we had a plane to catch. Very clean & well kept, and the atmosphere was similar to what we're used to in TX for this genre of food. read more

Our first time here for lunch. I had a burrito chicken bowl (huge and chicken was spicy, Smokey, and just perfect.) Hubby had chimichanga. Even the rice was good! My family had a great time at Merry Piglets. Despite being busy they were very attentive to our table and we always had what we needed. The kitchen even made me an extra taco because I messed up while ordering. I don't take pleasure in writing this kind of review but unfortunately, Merry Piglets was the worst food my husband and I have ever eaten. This was NOT Tex Mex by any means. The chicken in the salad I had was terrible and the chicken fajitas were one notch better. The rice was glued together and not even near what Mexican rice should be like. Someone in the kitchen needs to go to Texas and taste what authentic Tex Mex is all about. I would love to see any new business succeed but this one doesn't have a chance unless the recipes change. For being opened for 6 months, they may be busy now but I doubt they will get repeat business unless the person has no concept of what good food is. I'to really bad, but thank God for the Midas Crush!! I will say that the restaurant is very nice inside and the service was great!! Very nice waitress! read more

A new Tex-mex restaurant in Bozeman. Nice atmosphere and beautiful restaurant. Was seated immediately but sit there for several minutes while others were being served. Finally went to the hostess station and asked where my server was. It is not that they had a shortage of servers because many were just standing around. Finally a server came over and we began our order. Food was excellent. Margaritas were good. The queso for the chips was quite good for Bozeman. Probably the best Mexican food in Bozeman. I think there service will improve with practice. read more

Not very good, pretty bland food and it was expensive. Queso tastes like the same stuff you buy in a jar at the gas station. Reminded me a lot of airport food, it is edible but you are not very satisfied. Fiesta is a better bet if you're looking for a big plate with tons of flavor. read more

The appetizers were good - tartare and yellowtail - but the entrees were absolutely dreadful. (How do you screw up a hamburger?) We gave them another shot last night and waited 15 minutes to even get approached for a drink, and no one came over. So we left and went to Stockman's (excellent!) 1864 is great venue that is entirely wasted.

I love a good cocktail and the restaurant we had eaten at before coming here had none so we knew we had to have "dessert" here. We came in to a sign that said seat yourself. We did, at a cozy little spot near the front door. The table has real candlelight, all of the tables do, so there's this beautiful ambiance of dancing light that envelopes this larger than it looks from the outside wine bar. Just a few seconds after sitting, someone was at our table with waters and the menu. Talk about fast and efficient service. When our actual server arrived, she was super friendly and hospitable. She made it feel like we were regulars and I loved that. And the cocktails? Superb. Absolutely incredible, every single one of them. And that coconut lime rickey? I understand why people rave about it. Perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. I also want to point out how quick the cocktails came out to us. I was so surprised we didn't have to wait long at all, even though this place was pretty full and they were pretty busy at the bar.

The bartender was friendly and made us laugh a lot. She was also very good at her job and made us some excellent cocktails. We ordered from the cocktail menu, but she was ready to make whatever you wanted, except for a Captain and Mountain Dew because unfortunately they don't have Mountain Dew at the hotel. And don't worry, it wasn't me ordering that. Not that I'd shame anyone for their cocktail choices but the gentleman and lady next to us had some interesting combinations they wanted to order. We also ordered the carrot cake pops. Man those were good too. We contemplated coming in the next day for some more. We liked them that much. The ambiance of this rooftop bar is also fantastic. It's large and decorated really well but the piece de resistance was the outside and the views of Downtown Bozeman. The cozy fire pits and comfy seating were very appealing. The Fungi Pizza: This is our usual go-to, but the dine-in version was totally off. For takeout, they pack the greens separately so you can control the heavy lime flavor, and they include a cream of mushroom sauce that makes it incredibly creamy. In the restaurant, they forgot the cream sauce entirely and piled the greens on top with so much lime it tasted like biting into lemons. We tried adding salt and pepper to cut the intense acidity, but it didn't help at all. The Japan Chicken: On the plus side, the Japan Chicken was excellent--incredibly juicy and crispy. This dish is actually much better when you dine in. When we get it for takeout, it loses its crunch and ends up feeling like a basic chicken nugget. Definitely order this one fresh at the table.
