I'm always torn writing about Mexican restaurants. They all seem so similar, but fiesta mexicana has a personality about it that sets it apart from its cousins. It's not so gimmicky with the rowdy hectic Mexican music, and it offers more than just burritos and chimichangas. I'd even argue you could dress in business casual if you wanted to... But that's a stretch. The guac was some of the best I've had in a loooonnng time. One of the servers shimmied up to the table with his guac making station and went to town! Wasn't expecting that! In goes the tomatoes! The onions! The...jalapeños?! Yes! Bring on the heat. I was feeling a bit like a stuffed sausage after eating a pound of chips (doesn't that always happen?) and ordered the chicken tortilla soup. The chips were a bit soggy from wading in the soup, so ask for the tortilla strips on the side. Otherwise the soup was hearty and sufficient for a small meal. The menu had other yummy , indulgent options that might be worth trying. Not for me this time. read more

My experience was horrible. The staff was rude and lazy . I came in to place a take out order since I'm new to Connecticut all together . I just wanted dinner for myself and my family . Only three items I got . The host that took my order told me !!10 minutes !! I thought to myself either they are really skilled chefs or the food can disrupt my mine and my families stomach . Nevertheless I told him I'll be in my car with my child. This was at 9pm. It was 9:17 and I went inside again to pay and pick up . When I walked in the staff was on their phone , eating in the back and aimlessly walking around . I had to wave my hand in the air to be seen. Another waiter comes and asked me if I needed help and I told him I'm picking up . He told me that food isn't ready and that it will be another 15 minutes . I was confused and asked him why would it take longer . He proceeded to tell me that the kitchen was closed and they had to reopen it . I was upset because that information was never told to me . I told him if I knew the kitchen was closed I'd never order and make the chefs work . He was like "well not my fault he making the food ". Short guy really was packing fire when I told him to cancel the order . My kid is in the car , He didn't tell me that kitchen was closed and was rude about the service . Then he had the audacity to tell me not to come back!! Yea buddy I wont come back to this place that's 3.5 stars . I was trying my local spots out since it was last minute and didn't want to give my children fast food , but this restaurant definitely saved us from a stomach ache . Worst customer service ever . No communication and I do not care about language barrier because he understood everything I was asking about when it came to placing my order . Then I called the restaurant to speak to a manger and they hung up on me because I wanted to complain about THEIR HORRIBLE service . Yuck yuck disgusting. read more

Fiesta Mexicana is pretty sprawling when you go inside. The place is in need of a good scrubbing though. As you get closer to the kitchen which is adjacent to the rest rooms, you can smell sanitizer or soap or whatever that smell is. Scarily there are tables close enough to catch a whiff of that also. The four of us were there for a late lunch and the place was pretty desolate. Still, our waiter was helpful and cheerful enough. The salsa and chips were kind of amazing. Entrees won't throw you for a loop as they include the usual array you'd expect to find in a Mexican restaurant. I had the trio combo and the chicken enchiladas suiza was pretty tasty and tasted fresh. The sauce had a nice bite to it also. They don't cheat you on portion sizes either. Prices are pretty reasonable and they might even be able to jack them up a buck or two and not raise any eyebrows. Still - this is Brewster not midtown Manhattan so they likely have a decent working class group of regulars who could easily find a Chili's or a chain place. Fiesta Mexicana is light years better than that as an option. The place is all the way in the back of the shopping center which McDonald's fronts so it isn't very easy to find unless you came in looking for it. You'd also probably not imagine how spacious it in inside until you walk in and look around. If you have a big group to fill the place up it seems like it would be a great spot for that. I'd come back and try again (and still hope they scrubbed it a bit more since my first visit). read more

The food was atrocious and the service indifferent at best. I ordered the Paella, supposedly a "special" of the day. It came with two clams, with the consistence of leather. The shrimp were dry and overcooked, and many of the muscle shells were empty. The scallops were tough and the rice was soggy. My wife had the chile relleno, which came with rice and beans. It was served lukewarm, and the cheese filling of the chile was unrecognizable. Suffice to say she had an upset stomach into the next day. read more

Have two trips to restaurant lately. Have not been disappointed yet. Awesome service, I repeat awesome! Guacamole made fresh your table, chips refilled before you ask for more. Not a Margarita lover, but don't pass up on ordering one, make it a large one. Not overpowering, tasty balance of lime and flavors. I had the Burrito, tasty, and filling. Also had the Chimichanga's, nicely done, not overly spicy. After meal waiter treated us to Tequila straight up, and they went straight down. A nice thank you for your visit. As for the Mariachi Band, at first a little weird, but those guys were great, and made our second trip memorable. read more

I lived in Los Angeles for years and am quite picky about my Mexican food... And Fiesta Mexicana is one of the best in the area. Located in the strip mall, Fiesta Mexicana is very serviceable Mexican food, not too expensive and quite tasty! The service is too knotch, very very fast. It was under one minute between sitting down, getting chips and salsa, and putting in a drink order. The food is fresh, and the portions are generous. The tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, rellenos... It's all good! I wish the side of retried beans was bigger, but that's all I can complain about. The margaritas are strong and big! No complaints there!l either! The Maricachi Band going around provides great ambiance. It can also be a great annoyance if you don't like Mariachi! These guys actually ask before just playing in your face, which was very appreciated. We politely said no and they said thank you anyways. The rest of the atmosphere is your stereotypical Mexican restaurant. Sombreros on the walls, bunting, tans and reds... You know what's going on! Four stars! Ill be back! read more

THE ATMOSPHERE is pretty crazy. When you first pull into the parking lot, it doesn't look as if you're going to be walking into such an active place. The restaurant has a traditional Mexican style and they even have a Mariachi Band that will come to your table and play whatever you'd like. Our group decided to go with the classic "La Cucaracha." This place is very kid friendly and just an overall fun experience. THE FOOD was very good. As soon as we were seated we were offered fresh guacamole dip, which was prepared table side. The chips are very tasty combined with the guacamole dip and the salsa dip makes it very hard not to fill up on these alone. This restaurant offers more entrees and Mexican dishes than others that I've been to. Just a huge variety. THE BAR is not that big, maybe fitting 20 or so people, but that's not a problem, most people are just at the bar waiting for a table or enjoying some insanely good $5 Margaritas. Our group tried the Mango, Coconut and Traditional flavors. They were all very good, any flavor you decide on is a winner at this restaurant. We actually received our bill and didn't realize that they were so cheap, and ordered another round. Definitely worth going back for. RECOMMENDATION: A majority of the people in our group had the flautas. The chicken was very good and I myself had the beef flautas, very tasty and i would definitely order this entree again. Don't fill up on chips too much if you do order this however, they are very substantial in size and I ended up taking half of my entree home with me. The quesadillas were also a favorite. Casual and comfortable, interesting specials and a great regular menu, Fiesta Mexicana is a great option for dates, families, or events. I went there with my Mexican friend last Sunday night. My friend said this is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The drinks are good. The food is fresh and tasty. We had the $10 off $50 coupon and made the dinner even better. I was a little bit reluctant in the beginning when I saw the one or two stars reviews. Then I realized those reviews basically complained about the service and veggie. I ordered the fish taco, very delicious. My friend said the guacamole is too good so she had to order the 2nd bowl! I'm caught between 2.5 and 3 stars. But, I'm going to have to go with 2. I love Mexican food and can always count on finding something vegetarian like a burrito or quesadilla thats veg friendly and totally fail proof. This place just didn't cut it. Starting with the salsa that was 75% onions. My veggie burrito was so strange. It was a bag of frozen vegetables with a white cheese rolled up in a very American seeming (starchy and just like white bread). The rice was dry and bland. Fiesta is great place, don't let the location throw you off. Inside is fun and lively, and any given night of the week is busy. The drinks are awesome and pretty cheap, $5 for a regular and $7 for a large frozen drink. The salsa and guacamole knock everything out of the park, do not walk away from this place without an order of the spicy guac. The entree's are good, but with all the guac and drinks preceeding them, I usually have to wrap it to go. Overall, fun place to go for drinks and a thrifty lunch. Nice Mexican place, great alternative to Las Manitas if you can't get in or want something a little bit quieter. Margaritas with 1800 and Grand Marnier are 8 bucks, chips and salsa, table made guac, and pretty great price to portion. I got the Mixteco, the pork rib in tomatoey-gravy sauce, Super delicious. Speedy service. Menu is a bit small. Only complaints that I can think of it the salsa could be a bit spicier, and the bathrooms really need either a better fan, or the fan fixed. This place used to be the best place to eat in Brewster, however service has really gone down hill. My husband and I wanted some Mexican on a Sunday night and called ahead to see what time the kitchen was open to. We were told they were open until 9. We arrived at 8:20, were seated and then the waitress came over and told us that the kitchen was already closed. When my husband started to explain that we called and were told the kitchen was open until 9 she started raising her voice and telling him not to yell at her making a large scene. Completely embarrassed we left in search of another place to grab a bite. We used to go here all the time, but the attitude of the staff was completely unprofessional and rude. The worst part is that we called ahead to make sure the kitchen would be open, trying to be respectful to the staff. We will not be back. read more

We went to see Insurgent over at the United Cinemas (the one in Value World) and hubby was in the mood for Mexican. It was pretty busy for a Sunday night, but we were seated promptly. We started with the guacamole which was prepared table side and actually really good. I had the combo platter #1 (chicken chimichanga, cheese quesadilla and a chicken enchilada) and hubby had the combo platter #3 (I think it was the one with the burrito, enchilada and flauta). Overall service was good and as with all tex-mex places, the food came out relatively quickly. With tip, our bill came to $47 dollars (one iced tea, once guacamole and 2 entrees). I walked away with leftovers (enough for a second dinner), so the total bill didn't make me cringe too badly. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Brewster (even more so than Las Mañanitas, its fancier younger brother, which I also like a lot) and their quality is always excellent. Having grown up in California, I'm spoiled when it comes to Mexican food. There are very few Mexican restaurants on the East coast I've eaten in that really compare with the quality and authenticity you can get in the West. As often happens with Asian restaurants, the menus and food in Mexican joints matches what the local population's taste buds are accustomed to. So what most North Americans think of as "Mexican food," is usually a fairly standardized set of choices - burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc. If you're lucky, you'll find a place that includes some "specialties," or at the very least, brings something special to the staples you can expect to find. So with that in mind, I can honestly say that Fiesta Mexicana is not bad, but not great either. Their food is fresh and tasty, and they do offer a few seafood and traditional specials that will keep those too bored by the basics interested. But in the end, as long as your expectations are well managed, you shouldn't be too disappointed. The service here has always been very good, the waiters take care of you quickly, and the food arrives almost too quickly. The owners recently opened another, more high-end Mexican restaurant nearby (Las Mañanitas), which I have yet to visit, but I am optimistic about it and look forward to visiting it, as I'm always up for a good Mexican meal - even an average one! read more

The food is good and so is the atmosphere. The reason for three stars is that we felt rushed. I would have thought it an honest mistake if I didn't see it happen at two other tables. Also, it was not busy, so why the hurry? We ordered the super nachos and were really enjoying them halfway through when out comes my husband's sizzling fajita and my chili relleno. Ugh, biggest appetite crusher to see all that food sitting there. The food did taste good so we wrapped it up to go. At another table we saw a man who hadn't even taken a sip of his soup get his entrée and another table that sat after we did was getting a check before they even asked for it. I've been here before and have had a nice time. It's great for appetizers and drinks. The music is fun too. We live local and have been patrons since the place was in the village of Brewster, prior to them moving here. I really miss the restaurant once was, the staff and the food. This place was extra ordinary and always a hit until the owners got a bit greedy and opened the more expensive version of this restaurant only a mile away from this one and took the quality and life away from here. It was night and day how quickly everything went down hill from then. Fiesta Mexicana lost its identity, quality and anything that made it stand apart from any other Mexican restaurant. The guac used to be spectacular and people would go just to get that, it was a table side show with usually the owner preparing it anx talking with you. The owners were so friendly and always talked to their customers, to the point of honestly being friends with many of their patrons. Now, it's just avocado and somebody rushing to get it over with. The salsa and chips were fresh and delicious, now it's so hit or miss. The chips could taste fresh or gummy. The salsa could be fresh and amazing or burn your face off and yet bland. The main dishes were always exceptional, no matter what you ordered, hot, tasty and generally authentic. Now, I honestly don't know if the food is prepared and frozen ahead of time or is just frozen commercial delivery they fry up. We used to have parties there, bring friends and family there, go before a movie or just to have a special date night. We recently tried this place again and I wanted to cry at what a depressing and ordinary place they have settled into. I refuse to pay twice as much to go to their other location when they simply are milking the cow at both ends and took what was originally there away. read more

I unfortunately read Yelp'ers reviews of this place and dined, if you dare call it that last weekend, when Big W's (Great B-Q) was closed for holiday. Although the place is obviously run by Mexicans, the food was absolute garbage....not a hint of Mexican cuisine in the entire menu. I should have walked when I couldn't find tacos on said menu. Well I didn't and this is why I went thru the trouble to sign up to Yelp and write my first review: Zero rating- they should be ashamed of pawning this off as Mexican food- even for Gringos, and charging $8 for Guacamole. i grew up in Arizona, and this food is as good as the best in Tucson, and that's saying a lot! Guacamole is made at your table-spices adjusted to your taste- it's the best.the serving is a lot for 2 people but there's never been any left over! Every entree I've had is absolutely wonderful: chimichangas, fajitas, flautas, tacos. The refried beans taste home-made- subtle flavors that put them many levels above others. The salsas also taste home made- intricate delicious flavors. Margaritas are very good also. We drive over 20 miles to go here. Worth it. read more
