Overall rating: 4.8 Wow what a cool place! I came here with a few new friends and I loved the whole vibe. Must get the chai martini. SO DELICIOUS. Alas, like all places in nyc drinks are about $20 so a tad too expensive for my taste. A great date spot, but hard to meet new people based on the two times I went. Two very odd notes is that when there was really good music, I swore there was a dj. But I think after 12 or 1, they started playing 70s/ 80s music and it turned into an odd karaoke style gen z singing bar. Totally took away the charm of the place for me. Doubt I'd go back at night again. Still recommend!

Came here since we were close by jade and clover. Fun entrance to go into. But the music was so loud we could not hear ourselves think nor talk. The drinks were okay. Drank it and left. Headed to Jade and clover for their yummy drinks instead. Fun to come once and never come back.

Super cute and cool speakeasy. It's super easy to miss, since you have to enter an empty art gallery first. It's on the ground floor, so don't make the mistake like we did and go down a flight of stairs to a different bar. We ordered the Fountain and Chai Noir. Both were delicious. The ambiance is super cute inside-- it's also cute in the bathroom.

I'm super happy we stumbled upon this place! For context, I was celebrating a friends birthday next door at the potluck club and came for drinks right before. We had a great time and wanted to see if Fig 19 can spontaneously handle a small party of 10 later that night and they were able to squeeze us in with a corner table 9:15pm. Shout out to Nicole. My group stayed for a few hours and really enjoyed the DJ - the vibes, the drinks, the music and the dance was solid. Really good crowd and atmosphere too. From the cocktail menu, I recommend the Prince!

A friend of mine booked a table for Fig 19, which made me super relieved as I walked in. Group of 6 that may have grown to 10 as friends of friends came in. At 9pm, it was fairly crowded. By the time I left at 11:30, there was a huge line outside. Objectively speaking, music was decent with some early 2000's throwback mixed with today's popular songs. It's played loudly and conversations are hard to have. For drinks, I got the Rhapsody on the and Polly Jean. The combined ingredients of both were not what I imagined but the alcohol does hit you after a while. A good experience, though not particularly my style.

This place has been on my list for a while and we were at another bar in the area so we decided to check it out before heading to dinner. The entrance was at the back of a purple lit room - definitely would have walked right past it if I didn't know what we were looking for. I loved that the entrance was a bit hidden; it completes the whole speakeasy experience. We went around 7pm on a Sunday night and there was no line. We got seated immediately at the bar and the bartender was super attentive. Wasn't sure where to start for the drinks, but the bartender gave us a few recommendations and substituted it with the type of alcohol we prefer. We both enjoyed the drinks we had and overall, enjoyed the vibes here. Would definitely come back here again!

This speakeasy was the last stop on our tour, and it did not disappoint. All the drinks looked terrific, but I took my chances with the Polly Jean, and I was positively elated. It was bubbly, refreshing, and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms were clean, the service staff was helpful and knowledgeable.

Hidden location, I walked around the block a few times trying to find the Art Gallery entrance. If you can find some neon lights, there's a decent chance you're walking into the right gallery and the Entrance for the Fig 19 is in the back corner. My friends were running late, and they were able to accommodate me being there while I waited for them... The whole time, I was vibing really well with the atmosphere, from the music to the staff. I even got 2 drinks in before my friends were able to make it in. All the drinks were delicious, not too strong but perfectly balanced. There isn't any food options here, so be prepared to grab dinner at another spot. Luckily, there's plenty of options surrounding Fig 19! @phidingthefam

Ah, my long-time favorite speakeasy. Always had good luck here - was able to get a seat every time I dropped in. That said, really happy to see that they're accepting reservations now. I first had the Midnight in Paris, which had a sweet profile though didn't turn out to be too sweet as the chocolate bits were subtle. Then I tried the 19 Hundred, which was lit. If you enjoy drinks with strong spices, you'll enjoy this drink. Service was great! Just a bit sad to see that the gallery was completely empty; it used to have actual art. Not sure if this is a temporary situation post-Covid. Hopefully they'll bring back the gallery as well!

Hidden behind an art gallery is the popular speakeasy @fig19nyc , with beautiful cocktails and the alcohol is a bit stronger than what I usually would get in other places. The setting was nice and cozy but there weren't that many seats so many had to stand and chat. The music was very loud so it had more of a bar vibe than an usual speakeasy, and people just kind of danced and jammed by the bar.

I came expecting fantastic cocktails and was not disappointed. The decor is - inspired - but it does add to the overall experience. A little quiet on this particular Tuesday night but I'm not complaining; less I have to compete with to get my drink order in. Small cozy speakeasy hidden behind a door in an art gallery. The art gallery had a few nice pieces on the wall. The interior of the bar has a very hipster vibe, with a fireplace (that was lit with candles) and a cozy living room-like charm. The drinks here were strong. Loved the overall experience of entering through a hidden door in the corner. read more

Great execution of the speakeasy. Through an art gallery is as cool as it gets. One in my crew is a card-carrying member which has this dude stoked. It's perfect for hiding away for some true mixology and escaping the weekend d-bags that pollute the LES. And if you are craving some energy, there certainly is plenty downstairs at Home Sweet Home. read more

If you're looking for a bar not many others know about, original drinks, nice ambiance - look no further. My friends and I were wondering the streets of the LES looking for home sweet home. I mistakingly went to the doorman for fig 19 thinking it was the doorman for the other bar. After realizing my mistake, he asked if we wanted to come inside. I looked in - a closed art gallery?? Sure thing, mister. But he insisted we would be delighted, and of course, my girlfriend and I went in, with her boy reluctantly following us. Wow...through an art gallery you walk into a dimly chandelier and candle lit bar/lounge. Beautiful. It was still early so there weren't many people there, but it never did get overly crowded - at all. Which was obviously the point. We got to talk to the owner's bartender/boyfriend who was so great! Answered all of our questions about the place (we fell in love) and served us delicious cocktails just by asking us what we liked. I later confessed my love for tequila and next thing you know I'm drinking jalapeño infused tequila - awesome. Not sure if this bar is still exclusive or if they've decided to make it more public. Or just letting themselves known slowly through the grapevine. If you go and get in...you won't be disappointed. PS - after fig 19 my friends and I went to home sweet home downstairs. Let's just say we did a once around and headed for the doors. read more

Great no-nonsense watering hole on the DL. Bar-centric with minimal furniture, a nice patina to the wooden floors and candles in a fireplace. Not sure about the taxidermy & curios theme, I'm assuming it's overflow from next door at HSH. Some pretty and clever people on either side of the bar, and decent prices for the area. read more

One of those places that you're hesitant to review because it might get too crowded - but feel like you have to review because it's so well done. Just the right number of people on a Friday night. A difficult but friendly door (which is how it's s'posed to be done). And bartenders that can whip up drinks to satisfy the most picky palates (that would be me). You can order off the menu, but if you're going for three or four drinks (and just admit it - you are), I'd recommend letting the bartenders work on tweaking to your taste. Others have gone into more detail than I can remember. It's not a big place, so if there's difficulty getting in, it's for a good reason. If you do get in, it's a friendly vibe and you can enjoy your drink(s) without getting crushed. read more

Bartender with the mustache was completely overwhelmed. Cool spot and would have been a great experience but for his inability to care about his craft. One of the people in my group order a specific whiskey and he just went to the well, poured it in the glass, and asked for 12 bucks. May go back, but not when he's tending. read more

Great spot to get your night started. The glam-retro chandeliers, and the white brick fireplace set a great ambiance! The Midnight in Paris drink is amazing! Get there right at 8:15 or so as it gets very busy on Friday and Saturday evening. read more

Fun little speakeasy tucked behind an art gallery. Great cocktails and ambiance. I like the weird "cabinet of curiosities" decor. Hip hop music is fun. My main complaint is that it's not really a dancing venue, yet they blast the music so loud it's impossible to carry on any kind of conversation. Is this a chill bar/lounge or a bumping night club? It's only a single room so it just can't be both. Dear management: turn down the music a touch and embrace the loungey vibes, please! read more

Terrible service. There was a tall bartender with long hair and a baseball cap that barely looked us in the eye when we sat down and would only take other peoples orders. We only ordered bottled beers and he only nodded his head, completely ignored us and went to talk to his friends in one corner. The bar wasn't full at all, it was a weeknight. He avoided eye contact all the time and wasn't mixing or anything. I politely called his attention again and same attitude. The bar back noticed we were the only people sitting on the bar with no drinks, took our order and gave us our beers...just two lousy bottle beers...not a cocktail or anything just a beer. I looked around and noticed we were probably the only minorities at the bar and couldn't help feeling that the bartender was not only being a lousy douche bag but also racist. Left feeling pretty bummed. Never ever coming back. read more

Cool spot! Not hard to find as the bouncers see you stop curiously and ask if you are looking for Fig19. Walk through a small art gallery to a moderately sized bar room. Very cool feel with chandeliers, solid cocktail list ("The Brett" was tasty but small served in a prosecco glass... which I should have known since it had prosecco in it), and not over crowded. An artsy crowd but otherwise, enjoyed our visit for a drink! read more

Easy to miss, its worth a stop inside. Drinks are great, standard speakeasy prices (~$13-15). Bartenders are very helpful and even gave us a free drink just try out something new last time. I wouldn't come here with more than four people, it's a great place to get a few excellent drinks and catch up. read more

Pretty cool speakeasy. There is a bouncer in front of an art gallery. You just say you want to go to fig19 and he directs you through the gallery to the bar. Bar is a 1920s theme and is pretty clean read more

points for the pretty cool entry to a bar--enjoy a stroll through the lodge gallery then open the door in the back to head into fig19 minus points for the loud music. I mean, why are you playing it at this volume?? folks aren't in this tiny space to dance and now their throats are sore from having to shout to speak to their pals. rose cocktail, nice touch with a rose petal in there. read more

One of the best cocktails I've had. With delicious apple slices soaked in brandy on top! The speakeasy gives it a sense of mystery but the inside was comfortable and not too crowded. The bar tenders were helpful and not pretentious in the slightest! What a memorable night. read more

Definitely a classy place. Great setting and the bouncer was nice enough. The drinks are priced how you would expect for such a place. Only complaint is that they definitely make the drinks a bit too girly looking (the place looks like it was catered to the fashion crowd), so if you are going to add some coloring syrup on that drink, at least use a manly looking glass. read more

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. I could end the review right there and tell you to go check it out, by virtue of that alone! I've been to a variety of speakeasies, not all of them being quite as hidden as others. Places like Angel's Share and Garfunkel's, which are hidden inside a restaurant, are more hidden than a place like Little Branch or Featherweight with just an unmarked, or less obviously marked door. And Fig. 19 definitely falls into the former category. You enter a functioning art gallery and admire the pieces as you walk towards an unmarked door in the back that almost blends in with the white walls. The giveaway was the sound of conversation and music emanating from behind the door. And speaking of music, they were playing some good, unexpected stuff on the night we were there. We heard some Led Zeppelin, for example! How cool is that? The bar itself is dimly lit, with some really interesting decorations: big chandeliers, ships in bottles, and a smiling head that looks straight out of a horror movie! It all creates a dark, ethereal ambiance that suits a late-night cocktail. There are also a lot of comfortable booths that lend themselves to extended visits. The drinks were quite delicious too! I got two that were both mezcal based (The Standoff and Night Moves), and both were really good--citrusy with just the right amount of smoke added in. I think in terms of quality, they're right up there with any of the other top speakeasies. We left feeling satisfied from the drinks and the extended conversations we had there, and there's something jarring (in a fun way) about emerging from a dark, romantic speakeasy into a bright, sparkling white art gallery. The door closes behind you and you're back in reality, the noise fading away into the lights. It's almost like waking up to sunlight coming in your window in the morning and finding yourself trying to hold on to the last vestiges of your dreams. read more

A true speakeasy! I came here last night with some new and old friends. You walk in through an art gallery in slight confusion as you approach a whitewashed door. Suddenly the door swings open and you enter a hidden room filled with music and a mellow decor. We came on a Thursday night when the bar was not crowded and easily snatched a table for 4. The drinks, oh the drinks! The Red Leaf was a winner - beautifully made, flavorful, and strong! I'm curious to return here on a weekend to better scope out the scene.
