I've been here twice now and both times have left with the same feeling. Ehhhhhhh. Came here for brunch on a Sunday and took a seat at the bar. Was greeted pretty quickly and placed my order for the "Breakfast Sushi" and the Mexican Mocha Latte. The breakfast sushi was definitely a mistake. It just tasted way too plain to me. Not enough flavor. Nothing special to make it stand out. I ate one of the "rolls" and asked for a box to go. I was more happy with the semi sweet fruits on the side compared to the Breakfast Sushi and for $15 I expected a lot more. For that price I could order a big order of shrimp fried rice at Royal Mandarin and a side of some salt and pepper chicken wings so that's probably what i'll do next time if someone asks about the "Breakfast sushi" is push them in that direction. The Mexican Mocha on the other hand was probably the only thing that made me happy that morning. Don't think i'll be coming back here for brunch. I'll stick to my favorite's at Family House of Pancakes down in National City. read more

2nd time here. Both times were good. Service today was great. Have to give special shout-out to the meatloaf hash. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. The wait was about 25 minutes, not too bad for the location, cute places to walk around while we waited and TOTALLY WORTH IT. When we arrived, the restaurants vibe is so cute and earthy. The music was perfect, the menu was extensive but not too overwhelming and we didn't wait long for our food. Boyfriend got French toast - SO FLUFFY IM GONNA DIE SO YUM. I got a bomb Summer Salad and asked them to add chicken and they did without hesitation. It was delicious. Service was good not great; [while sitting outside at the patio] there was a a small family sitting behind me. Now one of the young kids was sick (before eating), because after ordering their beverages i heard heavy watery heaving - followed up by a loud blaah, followed up by a heavy spat. Thankfully enough it did not get on me, but the large pink mess with white spots was left there for me, my wife and the rest of the lunch crowd to see. Waiters, passed and stepped over and continued to brush up my chair as they play "don't touch the vomit lava!" Food is great, service is terrible. Both times we've come for Sunday breakfast, we had Rachel as our server. She doesn't refill waters or coffees, didn't come to give us the check until 20 minutes after we finished eating, and doesn't smile until she is giving the check because she thinks that will help her tip. Also, the waitresses here wear shorts that are so short and tight that their buttcheeks are eating the denim. Please change the dress code. This was great food! A solid 40 minute wait and I would say worth it. Only thing that would've brought it to a 5 would've been slightly larger portions and not as long of a wait after we ordered food. With that in mind, I LOVE eggs Benedict and this was great. We got the classic and substituted the bacon for some sausage. The sausage was a little too "hot dog" flavor for me, I think I was expected some ground sausage. Food Drink - Coffee, dragging after the wedding on Saturday. I also got my nephews orange juice. Who knew he did not like the kind you have to "chew". Yes fresh squeezed orange juice. Main course - I love finding unique breakfast items and they nailed his one. I had to order the breakfast sushi. Yeah the word sushi is being thrown around a lot lately. They use the word to describe how the man candy bacon is wrapped around the scrambled eggs and scallions. Then covered in a plum sauce, my waitress suggested that since it was my first time ordering it to get it on the side, which I did and was glad. The sauce was good but very strong so a little went a long way. It also came with mango side salad. I liked using the mango dressing the sushi. You might want to ask for a side of that too for the sushi. My wife's main course - She went with a classic, apple cinnamon French toast. Lucky for me she only ate half. The apples on top were piled high on the toast. I love apple pie, and skip the crust of the pie, and this was what you got with a side of thick sliced French toast. Coming in from out of town this is a great brunch. Wait was only 20 minutes to be seated all the staff was super friendly.It was dog friendly so had fun watching all the dogs hang out. This center is massive but stores are quite easy to find. Your navigation will take you there straight away. Parking is a non issue. I've been to this location twice, both on a weekday morning. Although busy, there was no wait. Service is a little on the slow side, not annoyingly slow but enough to get you to turn your head and give "the look." The staff are all A grade, so courteous and pleasant. On my first visit, I was not very hungry so I ordered the granola. The waitress mentioned that the granola and yogurt were all made in house and the best she has ever had. I have to agree. I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a massive serving of granola, fresh fruit, and yogurt for ONLY $7.95. On my second visit I had the stuffed French toast. AHHHMAZZZING! I added eggs and bacon for an extra $4. It was so much food that I had to take 1/2 of it home. Let me tell you, eating it the next day was even better. I had a few nibbles of my friend's dishes. The breakfast sushi is so yummy. The perfect blend of sweet (from the plum sauce) and savory. The lobster and blue crab bennie gets 2 thumbs up. If you're in need of a caffeine fix, I recommend just ordering the coffee. I am always looking out for brunch spots and was glad that I finally got the chance to try Fig Tree at their Liberty Station location. Surprisingly the wait for a patio table on a Saturday morning for 2 only took about 10 minutes. Not bad at all. Their menu is massive so you're very likely to find something that tickles your fancy. But for me, Eggs Bennies are my favorite brunch time dish. They have 5 or 6 versions and I chose the Angus Beef Short Ribs Bennie because it sounded amazing. It was a thing of beauty when it landed on the table. Two perfectly poached eggs on top of focaccia bread (you can opt for English muffins too) that was then topped off with the short ribs & then smothered with Hollandaise sauce. The focaccia was fantastic and their Hollandaise was luscious with the perfect hint of citrus. As for the short rib, I thought it could have used a tad more seasoning and sprinkle of finishing salt. But the house potatoes are the TRUTH! And ask for them extra crispy! And since my dear friend has a serious sweet tooth, we also split the fig bread pudding that was to die for! Definitely recommend. No bottomless mimosas here but I did order a Bloody Mary -extra spicy. Super nice kick to it! Over all, I enjoyed it! 2/12/16: After flying down from NorCal for the Valentine's weekend, this was our first stop, and man it was so nice to sit down in the nice outdoor patio and soak up the lovely San Diego sun. Breakfast Sushi $13.50: Well, what can I say--it's unique and when I saw it I must have it. But alas, well, it sounds and even looks better than what it actually was. Think Chinese fried rice shaped into cylinders then wrapped in bacon at the bottom. That's basically it. Now, the fried rice was actually very good--the eggs were really fluffy and the rice was very light. Hell, it was better than what I had at some real Chinese places. But well, calling it "sushi" is quite a stretch. The plum sauce was extremely super strong, and the waitress correctly warned us to get it on the side. Trust me, you do not want to have this poured all over. Came with some fruit. Overall, it looks beautiful, and tastes good, but I think they should have called it something different cause it didn't hit that "breakfast" button. Lunch item would be better. 6/10 5. Soup Sandwich Salad Combo Option $8.95: The grilled cheese wasn't too great. It was served cold and the cheese wasn't melty at all. If I remember correctly there were still distinct slices of cheese inside, meaning it wasn't even heated all the way through in the first place. Love the other fig tree, well both of the others. PB and Hillcrest. Food has always been delicious so I decided to try this one since my go to, tender greens was closed. I got the shrimp fritata which was excellent, spiced perfectly and the shrimp wasn't overcooked. I upgraded to the fancy potatoes which was worth it, so tasty. The kids got the stuffed French toast like always! The staff was super sweet and had mommas water glass full at all times, if you know me, you know it's not an easy task! We were happy that this place was the same great food we have come to expect from the other restaurants. Glad they gave me another food option at liberty station. I've been here quite a few times and every time has been good food and great service. They don't really have any unique items on their breakfast menu, everything is pretty basic. I usually get the shortribs bennie or the veggie scramble. Both items are really good and have always been consistent. My fiancé always gets the French toast which he loves. The fresh orange juice is freaking amazing. I order it every time I go. The patio is very dog friendly and they always bring a bowl of water out for my pups. I like Fig Tree Café- I'm not crazy about it. It's never my first choice, but it's never a bad choice. I know I can always count on a good and filling breakfast whenever I come. It was the day after Halloween....enough said. My best friend and I were in desperate need of brunch and Fig Tree Cafe came to the rescue! We went pretty late and inadvertently beat the brunch rush so we were seated right away. After immediately placing our orders for two iced lattes (caffeine was a must), we were wowed by the menu and all they had to offer! From eggs benedict to pancakes and french toast to sandwiches - holy moly! We had some serious decisions to make! After going through all the possibilities and realizing that we could only eat so much, we decided to split the Housemade Lobster & Blue Crab Cake eggs benedict and stuffed french toast with mascarpone, strawberries, and mangoes. Both dishes were incredibly delicious with incredibly generous portions! My friend and I were both wowed by the quality and quantity of both dishes - so much that we have plans to come back and try other items on the menu! Since I heard Breakfast Republic owners are part of Fig Tree Café, I was eager to try them as well. My friend told me their Point Loma location is the nicest so we met up for brunch. I heard they have the trio of coffee as well. I'm there for three cups of coffee! All were delicious. My favorite is the Mexican mocha. For my meal, I ordered the house made lobster and blue crab cakes bennie. I love eggs benedict and lobster or crab are always my favorite on a bennie. It's perfect since it had both! I wish I could give this place at least 4 stars but unfortunately I settled with two. My waitress was great and the food has a lot of potential. However, the bus staff (or food server) spilled half the potatoes on my dish all over the table as he was serving me my plate. He didn't bother to apologize or offer to replenish what little potatoes were left. My food was cold and honestly tasted like it was sitting out for a while. The espresso was served cold & the sour cream looked like they just whipped milk together. After eating here, I ended up getting food poisoning. This has bacon, cheese, avocado, and I order without sour cream. It also comes with roasted potatoes and a side of bread (a bit carb heavy). We came to the Pt Loma location in Liberty Station on a Sunday morning. Fortunately we came before the rush (about 10 am) and were seated immediately. There's seating inside and outside, but typically I have always sat outside. Our server was very attentive and nice (I unfortunately did not get her name). The omelet was as expected and good. The roasted potatoes were pretty crispy and I actually preferred more crisp than soft. Bf ordered the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich. This comes with fries. The fries are thin and crisp and good. I didn't try the sandwich, since it had similar items in it, but it did look good. My one complaint about this location is that there is only one unisex restroom, so there is typically a line. I had some Man Candy...oh yes I did!! And I liked it! Give it a try and you will like it too. All jokes aside...the food and atmosphere here is.good. There is Man Candy on the menu...bacon in brown sugar and paprika. The service was good. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. Mostly due to the rain and their outdoor seating wasn't open so this limited the number of seats available inside. The mochas here are pretty tasty too. First time here and it won't be my last. Stopped on my way to the Chargers game this morning and they were very friendly. We were seated almost immediately and I loved the atmosphere. Will have to come for wine one night. I was torn between a couple of items, but landed on the homemade granola and homemade strawberry yogurt. OMG, so good! The granola was unique because it had figs and toasted coconut, which was fantastic. The homemade yogurt was not very thick, but the flavor was dynamite and it mixed in with the granola very well. I also got the fresh squeezed OJ. It seemed a little expensive, but once I tasted it, I forgot about that. It rocked! I am also including a picture of the breakfast sushi. It was my first time at Fig Tree tonight when my friend and I decided to ditch Tender Greens (the line was out the door and taking forever) and try somewhere new. We were pleasantly surprised with our choice. The food was delicious. We shared the bruschetta app, I had a wedge salad and she had the gnocchi. But by far, the best dish was the dessert- Nutella stuffed donuts. Can you say heaven?! Ps thanks to yelp for the check-in treat! The only complaints I had for the night are that the service was VERY slow (it took more than 45 minutes for us to get our food and the place was almost empty) and it was a little on the pricier side (but then again we are broke college kids) Overall though, this was a great dinner experience. I have been wanting to try Fig Tree Cafe for quite awhile now and was excited when my friend suggested to have dinner here. I didn't even know that they had a location in the Point Loma area. Their Liberty Station location is quite inviting. I am loving the outdoor patio seating with the overhang and fresh herbs/plants growing all around. The indoor seating had quite a rustic feel which suits the rest of the restaurants in the area...most of them seem to have a rustic feel to them. We decided to dine at Fig Tree for an early dinner. I think that they are mainly known for their brunch menu as most of the photos i've seen on their yelp page were breakfast items. Nonetheless, when we got the menu I appreciated the fact that it was quite simple. The roasted beet salad and braised short rib flat bread caught my eye. My husband ordered the pork belly. Our party also ordered the man candy....which is their bacon, the papardelle, lobster ravioli, and the gnocchi. If you show them your check-in they do have a free dessert and we ordered the nutella filled donuts. I loved my meal and my husbands. The presentation was appetizing and there were so much flavor in my beet salad and flatbread. The portions and price were reasonable. Service was a bit slow considering we were dining early and there was practically no one at the restaurant yet. However, our server was very nice. The bf took me here for dinner last night and it was quite lovely. We arrived pretty late therefore it was not too crowded at all. PERFECT! It was both of our first times. Came here for an appreciation dinner given by the stewardship team at The Rock Church today. It was my first time having dinner here. I ordered the Tequila Lobster Ravioli and loved it. If I could give a restaurant 2.5 STARS, it would be this. Went here for brunch on a Sunday after reviewing their menu, and it looked to check off all the boxes. The ups: The location in Point Loma is beautiful, serene, and inviting. While we waited for our table, one of the waitstaff offered coffee and water - a nice touch. Caffeine sampler (mocha, mexican mocha, latte) was delicious, but unfortunately served in handle-less glassware not well suited for hot coffees. Portion sizes are very generous. The side of Andouille sausage was extremely tasty. French toast was good, not great. The downs: expensive for what you get. I paid almost $80 for two for brunch (although to be fair, this included two glasses of fresh squeezed OJ mimosas). Lobster crab benedict was mediocre, although the eggs poached nicely. Waitstaff got our order wrong and brought the incorrect potatoes, but quickly remedied this with the correct item. Waitstaff worked in an orchestrated and somewhat chaotic frenzy - they appeared stressed. ***Yelp bottom line*** In the very competitive brunch market that is San Diego, I think you could do better for the money. Needless to say, Fig Tree certainly isn't bad, and it's in a lovely location in Point Loma should you want to do a bit of adventuring in the area. read more
