There is too much rice in proportion to everything else! Man Candy Bacon is absolutely delicious The Shrimp Frittata is flavorful with good size shrimp included. Any of the French Toasts are fantastic! For drinks, love the Bloody Mary with man candy also the Michelada and the Espresso martini is very good! Service can be a little hit or miss because they are so busy. We didn't get our water until we asked for the second time when the food came out. My family of four stood waiting for 15 minutes while a waitress stood nearby, fully engaged in a personal conversation. When my nephew politely asked if it was self-seating, she curtly replied "no" and immediately resumed chatting--no apology, no offer to help, no acknowledgment of our presence. If that's how they treat guests before even sitting down, I can only imagine how long it would take to order food. First off, I want to say the entire meal was delicious. My teenage son and I love what we ordered. The only complaint I have was the wait time. They are definitely understaffed. There was no host to greet us and we waited for someone to seat us for quite a while. Then we waited at least 10 minutes before a waiter came by to take our order. Then waited another 15 minutes for our food to arrive. They weren't that busy, so we were suprised by how slow the service was. I would say, if you don't mind waiting, and are there to meet up with friends, or a long lay over at the airport, go for it, food is delicious. The service was great we got our food super quick and the server came back often to give us more water or ask if we needed anything. I ordered the grilled turkey sandwich and truffle fries it was super good! I think the sandwich bread was perfectly toasted and the fries were delicious! My friend who ordered the huevos rancheros gives them a 3/5, she said the salsa needed more flavor. My mouth is still watering from eating here! We went to a food hall in San Diego and nothing was open for breakfast. We returned to Liberty Station (my new favorite place in San Diego). Free parking and whatnot really draws me to places. But I'd go back to this place regardless of the parking situation because that's how good it is. My husband and I met my niece here yesterday for Sunday Brunch. I had viewed the website as well as heard about the great food. I was so excited about trying it. It did not disappoint. My husband doesn't usually eat/order breakfast. This time he did and actually praised it all day until we went to bed last night. A great spot near Liberty Station! Visited some friends down in San Diego and wanted to check out Liberty Station. I've never come there earlier in the day, so we figured we wanted brunch. Fig Tree was the only spot with a reasonable wait time, so we walked around before we were called. About an hour for a Saturday morning. We were seated inside, and ordered our dishes. I got a chorizo omelet and a coffee on the side. It came out pretty quick, and the coffee had the typical assortment of creamers and sugars. We showed up maybe 30 minutes after they opened and we're the first customers. Nobody greeted us so we sat down at a table after waiting a minute. A few more minutes passed before a young woman walked out from the back and saw that she had a table. Not off to a great start, but she apologized for the wait and took my coffee order. The seating area is quite small, but once they were able to accommodate 7 people for my group. I came here recently after my friends and I went mini golfing at the other end of Liberty Station. We were hungry and wanted to grab some breakfast for lunch. I've been to another Fig Tree Cafe location in the past, but I probably didn't order anything special (I typically order an American breakfast because I just love the classic breakfast), but I was convinced this time to order something that I wouldn't or couldn't easily make at home. It was a battle of eggs benedict vs french toast, but french toast won out. My boyfriend ordered the Fig Jam & Ricotta French Toast which he said he enjoyed. I ordered the Berry Sweet French Toast that came with maple syrup on the side, and also decided to added the optional two egg and two slices of bacon for an extra cost. I substituted the bacon with the maple-sage sausage and that was permitted with no extra cost which was nice. Let me tell you, that Berry Sweet French Toast was SO.GOOD. Maybe it's because I haven't really ordered french toast very often but it's the tastiest french toast I've had in years! I'm not sure who would need the maple syrup because I felt it was already dripped in maple syrup so much it had that almost sogginess texture that I really loved. With the berries and the sweet cream cheese it was the perfect pairing between tart and sweetness. I gobbled it up quickly. Definitely worth a treat. We came here around 1PM on a Saturday and was immediately seated outdoors, even though there was 6 of us. Service was fairly quick, nothing was amiss. I think everyone was fairly satisfied with their food. I love the variety of choices on the menu - there is something for everyone. Definitely give it a shot if you're looking at this review and are not sure whether or not to go. I hadn't been to fig tree in 5 years, so decided to revisit for a business lunch on a Friday at this Liberty Station location. It's tucked away with a nice little patio and bar area for a nice indoor/outdoor feel and lots of parking around. I think when I went they must have been short staffed. There were tons of tables open but I still had to wait 20 minutes for a table for two, which was fine, but definitely noticeable. Their menu has a ton of variety, and their drink menu is sizable. Their food menu ranges from sweet, savory, breakfast, and lunch items. I went with the short rib Benedict and was fairly disappointed unfortunately. The hollandaise was a bit runny, and there was very little short rib on my muffins, so much so that I had to rearrange the meat on the bread to try to spread it out so I wasn't just taking bites of hollandaise soaked muffin. Because I've had good experiences at Fig Tree over the last 10 years, I would probably go back, just not to this location. TLDR; I must have caught them on a bad day because they are typically good. An actual lavender stem would be more practical for decor than lavender bits that made it messy. I unfortunately could not give an accurate rating for food since I wasn't able to touch it until 10 minutes after delivery. It took about that long for us to receive our utensils. There's a higher chance it tasted better when it was warm. Coming from a child's perspective, they suggest two things. 1) Bring your own utensils (or have it prepared first thing) and 2) Denny's pancakes are better.
