For a restaurant with a price point of $50-100 per person the food was sub par and the service was so so so terrible. Server disappeared, so we waited 45 minutes for water, 1hr 15min before we ordered and nearly 2 hrs before the food arrived at the table. They told us they ran out of prime rib half an hour after taking our order and then replaced 6oz fillet with 4oz filet but still refused to admit they were underweight. If you eat here bring your patience and a scale to weigh your own steak. Or, just eat elsewhere! read more

Finally got to try Filet and was really pleased with both the food and the service. We had the crab cakes and shrimp cocktail for an app and both were solid. I had the bone in rib-eye and it was cooked perfectly, char was balanced and flavor was really good. Had the hash brown and wedge as a side and could have had the wedge as a full meal! Overall a really great experience and the only concern is the cost. I worry that the average cost is going to scare lots of folks off and might not give the restaurant a chance to make it. read more

General Review: $324 for a party of four. New York Strip cooked medium rare was tough and gristly. $14 cocktail's were surprisingly high. Charged .50 for some extra dressing and $1.00 for some steak butter, which I thought kind of petty. My wife had mushrooms added to her steak which she mentioned seemed canned. I had my first experience at filet steakhouse in ankeny last week. We had a group of four and got seated right away by a pleasant young lady. The server met us with water and right away I was blown away. He asked if we had been before and continued to explain to us the menu, what the entrees included, what was most popular, how many sides came with the entrees, and that we were drinking double osmosis H2O. As a former food industry professional I was amazed by his detailed description of everything. We ordered the French dip sliders and onion rings, both amazing, soon after the salad and bread. I ordered the 10oz sirloin which was not in stock so I was directed towards the two bacon wrapped filets with baked potato. Finished off with s cheesecake sampler. The food was top notch but what moved me was our server. I have never been more impressed. He took pride in his job he looked nice, spoke well, knew the menu in and out, even paired my meal with a tasty glass of Malbec. Not sure if he was a manager or not but he was assisting the other servers with tables, filling waters, cleaning tables. I can't say enough great things about Kerington. We will be back soon. Let's see....first visit and not sure if this will be a frequent restaurant for me. I was not impressed with their steaks, was expecting something better than texas road house,but to be honest no big difference but the check. This might not be my favorite restaurant but I won't say it's the worst. It's pricey and no kids selection son don't take your kids or teenagers they won't like it!! I reserved the private room for our company Christmas party the evening of December 12th which had over 20 people attending. Service was exceptional - wait staff were top notch. Food was excellent. This was our first experience dining here. We were looking forward to a good steak and an enjoyable meal. My wife and I each ordered the 12 oz New York Strip medium rare Upon cutting into the steaks we noticed they were Medium. Now this was not such a problem that we would send them back, but the waitress asked if they were done "perfectly" and we told her they were a little too done for future reference. Then, Melissa shows up at the table and declares them to be medium rare. Eventually she took them back to the kitchen but then, brought them back saying that the one was medium rare and the other was "slightly" overcooked. I must say, in all the years I've dine I've never had that particular experience. My wife took he steak and ate it although it was not what she had order. Howeve, I sent mine back because now it was a matter of principle and asked them to cook it to 130 degrees. (MR is 130-134) They brought it back cooked perfectly. Melissa tried to tell me that it was "rare" and I had ordered incorrectly. This steak was a perfect MR and was excellent.The waitress was fantastic. We left a nice tip but also with a bad taste in our mouth from Melissa. The Jury is still out as to whether we will go back. read more

For the price you pay for a meal at Filet, I would expect the waiter to be knowlegable and attentive... I would expect the onion rings to NOT be so grease laden that the coating falls off and we're left with slimy onions... I would expect that when I made reservations for a booth in the dining room that we not be seated in a noisy bar with many televisions.... I would expect a top class dining room, like the Fletch or Flemmings or Green Briar when we spend over $200 on two steak dinners. What a disappointment. read more

First time to this new restaurant. Food was ok, a little pricey. The service didn't match the price level. Brought bread out and server said would be back with plates. Finally after about 5 minutes, asked another server to get us some small plates. When salads came out, the server handed a salad to my wife from my side of the table instead of taking the two steps to place salad in front of her. They did the same thing with a warm dinner plate, handed it to her rather than placing it for her. Asked for butter and sour cream on the side for my baked potato, but wasn't served that way. No issues getting us the bill before we were finished. I have said before, great service will make a mediocre meal great, but mediocre service makes the meal mediocre no matter how good it is. Three stars is based on them being new and the learning curve. Will give them a second chance, keep my fingers crossed the service matches menu prices as it would be nice to stay in town for a higher end restaurant. read more

Where do I start...Tried to make dinner reservations and was told my time frame was already booked. But they had an opening for 30mins later. Thought that was fine, so took that time slot and arrived at that new time. Upon arrival to the restaurant, it was dead inside. Empty seats everywhere. Got immediately seated and waited 10mins for someone from the waitstaff to greet us and take our drink orders. While we waited, got a phone call from the manager asking us where we were as we had not yet shown up for our reservation. Huh? We were seated, by her! Finally approached by waitstaff, and the remainder of our experience with her was prompt and, as one would desire. Food was good, but NOT $160.00 worth for two people. As we were wrapping up, we saw the manager taking 3 glasses of water (with her fingers on the inside of the cup. Fingers submerged) to a recently sat table. GROSS! Instantly knew we would NEVER be back. Her front on the house antics will flush this business down the toilet. read more
