I have been going to filomenas for years. The food is always fresh and on point. They use high quality olive oil and never skimp on their ingredients. Not having gone here for a while, I recently went here on a Saturday evening for dinner with some friends. A client of mine recommended this place so thought we would give it a try. We were fortunate enough to find a parking place on the street almost right in front of the restaurant; otherwise, we would have had to search for a while for parking as I did not see restaurant parking. When we entered I was skeptical as there was no other patrons in the restaurant. We were directed to a dark room to the right (now I'm getting nervous). Happily the host/server/possible owner? turned on the lights. There was an interesting old, musty smell permeating from that side so had I been alone I would have left, but because I was with co-workers and waiting on our client, we stayed. The menu was limited on what I, as a vegan, could eat but the server said he could make something or alter a dish for me. Things are looking up. Based on the menu, he stated that he could modify the Eggplant Parm to eliminate the parm and baked the Eggplant without the coating as it had egg. Hmmm, eggplant can be testy, mushy, etc but I decided to give it a try. While we waited he brought out Focaccia bread, but it had cheese on it, which the server told me about (very kind of him). Everyone said it was delicious. Now the main event. The Eggplant sans Parm with marinara appeared. It looked very good and taste delicious. Although it was mushy, as eggplant can be, the marinara was a wonderful topping and enhanced the flavor. The portion was rather large, but I ate the entire meal. Had I not been with company, I would have licked the bowl or sopped up the marinara. Although the smell could have been a deterrent, I'm glad we stayed. read more

Outstanding experience at Filomena's. The food quality was superb and the waitstaff were excellent, never missing a beat. Their sauce is delicious, which is my litmus test for any Italian restaurant. Calimari was cooked to perfection, not rubbery. Ravioli's delicious. Fish Francaise was a generous portion with just the right balance of lemon and broccoli di rabe tender. On January 21st, I hosted my wife's baby shower at Filomena and it was the best choice by far. The food selection was great and plentiful. Everyone at the baby shower had something positive to say about the food. From the warm bread, which included garlic bread (my favorite) to the mini pizza and eggplant parmigiana appetizers, to the entrees that included veal marsala , chicken francese, broiled salmon just to name a few, my family and friends could not get enough. The food was not the only thing that was in point, so was the wait staff. Lenny was our head waiter and he went above and beyond to meet our needs. I don't catch the other names of the waiters but they were all helpful and very professional. My wife and I can't wait to go back to have a sit down diner and try other meals on the menu. Attended a Private dinner party at Filomena's. The food and service was great. There were at least three other parties going on that evening so the place was bustling. A divider separated us from an another celebration. We were toward the back of the restaurant, and able to enter through a side door to avoid going through the other parties celebration going on. The food was non stop family style appetizers, from the baked clams, pizza bites, eggplant rollitini, antipasti salad, calamari and a fresh bread with butter. Then it was a sit dinner with choice two different types of pasta. The main course was a choice of shrimp or bronzini scampi oreganato, chicken parm, and another dish (I forget). O was happy the bread and butter was still on the table because the sauce from the scampi I ordered was well worth the calories. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed our gathering at Filomena's. If you like Traditional Style Italian food with a fresh home cooked taste this place has your name all over it!!! read more

I had my retirement party here in October 2013 as well as my daughters nursing school graduation party this past December and both were made truly spectacular by the gang here at Filomena's. Although they were a bit surprised as was I at the bagpiper for my retirement party!! The food is awesome so delicious and plenty of it, and only can be outdone by the service..this place is TOPS!! Even just for a nice dinner anytime you will not be disappointed..!! Family owned and operated they have something that is very hard to find nowadays and that is good old fashioned home cooking and service as if you were a part of the family!! Had my Engagement Party here. I had about 45 guests. They were very accommodating to my guests needs. We had brought our own desserts and they were gracious in putting our many desserts in their fridge. When it came time for desserts, their waitstaff was able to organize them for each of our tables. The food was phenomenal. It wasn't too filling like most Italian restaurants I have been to. They also don't have huge portion sized foods. I hate feeling over full that I can't have dessert. We had floral arrangements on each table they set up. I was able to get there half an hour early to place our favors and other decor for our party on tables they had for us to use. The waitstaff was great. Dressed nicely...and they happen to dress the same color that was in or theme but I think that was a coincidence. They were very courteous. This place was amazing! I'm not even a fan of eggplant but their eggplant rollatini was delicious. We had our rehearsal dinner here and the food was spectacular, lots of variety, no one was short on drinks and their service is extra special. It's family owned so they're very accommodating with children and if you make it to dinner you're pretty much sure to meet the owners who are always so welcoming. Not sure why all the 5 star reviews here. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish. My waitress suggested that the carbonara was very good, and I was in the mood. I'm guessing she never had the correctly prepared version. A plate of spaghetti with cream sauce was put in front of me. It didn't even resemble carbonara. I had to empty a grated cheese shaker into the plate, along with some probably not fresh pepper to add some flavor. I now had alfredo with pancetta. Without doing this... totally bland. 5 star would be absolutely no cream, and the use of guanciale, not pancetta. I've had much better carbonara at pizzarias. read more

In short, one of the best meals I've had out in a very long time. The restaurant had been redone since the last time I had been there and now has a nice bar area and some modern decor. What I love the most about this spot is they will usually make anything you ask for even if it's not on the menu. For instance, there is no menu section for salads but I asked for a green salad and the order was taken with a smile. In addition, I got an order of perfect fried zucchini (also not on their menu) - it came out piping hot with a side of hot marinara sauce for dipping and had the perfect amount of bread crumb coating. My main meal was Pasta Filomena, a delicious combo of penne pasta, tomato cream sauce, mushrooms, peas and chunks of tender chicken. The portion was more than generous and I left feeling full and happy! The staff is well trained and endlessly polite. The parking can be an issue but I've always had luck getting a spot in the OTB lot right next door. Definitely worth checking out for some seriously delicious Italian food. read more

My wife and I and some friends just had dinner this past Saturday night and it was fantastic. This was our first time there and they were on point,from the quality of food,portion size and service. They excelled in every area. I usually judge the food to start on how good the calamari and the baked clams are made. The calamari was excellent,not rubbery at all. Another gauge I use is if the baked clams are chopped which is definitely a no no in my book. They were whole and delicious. Our main courses were done to perfection and the service was bar none. I'm always skeptical about going to Italian restaurants because they usually have little consideration for people with Celiac's Disease, but Filomena's was the best! They brought me gluten free bread that actually tasted really good. They have gluten free breadcrumbs so they can make baked clams, fried calamari, chicken Parmesan, etc. all gluten free. They even make homemade mozzarella and sausage! Our waiter was Nick and he was so nice and friendly, and so well informed! All I can say is there's no making up for ruining somebody's dinner. We appreciated that the owner restaurant served Gluten Free Pasta with choice of different sauces. The appetizer we ordered was good. First pasta - Filomena's pasta with vodka sauce was flavorful but the green peas weren't cooked. Our Second pasta - Penne Alfredo with chicken (uncooked chicken). I had to go back next day to the restaurant to return the Alfredo pasta with the uncooked chicken. Mario was nice to offer us our money back or cook us something different, but money can't bring back a Good Friday night dinner memory. Very disappointed in the quality of food. I understand it's hard to find good help in the restaurant business being in one myself but there's no excuse in serving uncooked meal. I'm not sure if we will give this place another chance. A new customer walks into a restaurant first time for tasting the food, then second time for good food & best service & if all goes well, you have a regular. Not in our case I guess. If you are looking for a good Italian restaurant with normal service from the waiters do not look here. I have not been to such an unprofessional restaurant. This is how it works. When they serve your food they do not put it in front of you, they hand it across the table or down the table, they even go as far as to hand it to you on the outside of the table. We were actually laughing because we could not believe the really bad service from the very young waiters. Additionally, they were not pleasant.
