Unfortunately, Eric's Italian Bistro has gone downhill a lot compared to a few years ago. The experience was really disappointing from start to finish. The food took forever to arrive, and when it finally did, it wasn't very good or very fresh. I ordered a pasta dish and it the pasta was a bit hard. The bread was cold, which set the tone early on. The restaurant itself also didn't feel as clean as it used to -- the bathroom and even the windows were noticeably dirty, which was surprising given how nice it once was. On top of that, the waiter was extremely slow and ended up overcharging us, which we had to point out ourselves. Prices have gone up significantly, and for the quality and service you're getting now, it honestly feels like a rip-off. This place used to be reliable, but based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend it anymore. read more

Not much of a welcome when we arrived at a sparsely occupied restaurant. Room is comfortable, if a little dated. Menu is vast - so much so that it's obvious most of it is not fresh or freshly prepared. For such a shall restaurant to offer chops, veal, steak, several Pastas, clams, and at least three type of fish - it has to be frozen. This really outbid off. My husband had the pork chops alla bruna. Overall was good but the pork chop was a little too well done and dry. Dessert was a trio and they were so kind to give my husband a slice of chocolate cake for his bday. Sadly I think the desserts fell short. The chocolate cake & brownie were both cold like just out of the fridge, too hard almost stale. The cake was not tasty, I usually don't pass up chocolate cake but did this time. Food was pretty good although some of the dishes I have had better at other locations. Eric's Bistro is located on Old Country Road, where the decorative lights adorn their awning and welcome you. There is ample parking in the lot behind the building. Upon entrance, you'll see a large bar on the right and room for tables to seat couples and one party of 5. Around the bend is a bigger room with larger tables, all spaced out. The decor is purposeful and quite beautiful, with columns adorning the walls. Italian music plays at a comfortable volume from above. Each person we walked past smiled from under their masks and welcomes us. We were a party of 6. Our server, Tom, was very friendly and patient. One of our friends was running late but he brought us the complimentary bruschetta and bread basket (filled with an assortment of bread and flatbreads). The appetizers ordered were: fried calamari, baked clams, mushroom risotto. The marinara served with the fried calamari was chunky and fresh, not overpowered with garlic. The calamari was fresh, crispy, and seasoned to perfection. The mushroom risotto was creamy and quite a large portion for an appetizer. The baked clams, which are my "litmus test" for returning to a venue, stole the show. For clam lovers, it was the perfect t balance of breadcrumb, fresh whole clam, and a lemon sauce that led me to take a piece of bread and mop it up. Our entrees: veal sorrentino, chicken Francese, filet of sole marrechiara, ravioli, seafood fra diavolo. The chicken was a huge portion of two large thick cutlets served with linguini. The veal sorrentino offered three large pieces and pasta as well. My friends raved over the ravioli and fra diavolo. I had higher expectations for the filet of sole. It was fishy (and I'm a seafood lover). It was layered with a delicious marinara sauce and surrounded by mussels and clams. Sautéed spinach was its accompaniment, which I throughly enjoyed. For dessert we had the tiramisu, Italian cheesecake, and I enjoyed my cafe caramelo. It was divine! I'm looking forward to returning here. My first time here and I don't think I will be going back, we tried the lunch prefix menu the portions where embarrassingly small so small that we had to order a third dish, the salmon they gave you with the price fix was about 1" x 2" long And they charge an extra five dollars for it, the service was OK. Our waiter was very nice but the two bus boys had really no idea what they were doing, the musssels in the white wine sauce were not great. Temporary hours for takeout only during the current restaurant shutdown are 4 PM to 8:30 PM Tuesday to Sunday. They're on Uber Eats and Grubhub, but you can also call in your order which I recommend as they cheerfully accommodate your reasonable special requests. Full dinner menu is available plus bottles of wine to go and they have put together a great package meal for two (or for four). I have just posted a picture of that. I have dined in here maybe four times over last year or so. It's small and cozy. Sometimes I found the dining room a bit too cozy, because if a noisy group is in there, there is really no escape. That's really my only negative so let's get past it. Service is warm and friendly and the staff makes you feel like they really appreciate you. There is free parking available after 5 PM in a nearby lot. If it's earlier on a (normal) weekday parking would be more of a challenge. Food is very tasty, freshly prepared rich and flavorful sauces, tender quality meats, and let me tell you, the best mixed vegetables ever. This is not your typical mixed vegetable boring plate filler. They are garlicky and perfectly seasoned, sautéed nice and just soft enough. We are losing weight on a low carb regimen and often sub vegetables for pasta. It is a delight to do so at Eric's. Give them a try and you'll be glad you did. read more

Glad I stopped. After shopping early on a Friday, we were looking for a place to dine. Must have passed Eric's many times, glad I stopped. Been back 3 times in 8 days. This restaurant offers unique ideas in Italian fare, the like I've not seen before, (see the menu). The double cut pork chop (see picture) has the option of one or two, I'm not sure who could eat two. Devine pairing of the large pork with hot red pepper in a nice glaze. Came here with my family for my birthday. We had a friendly greeting and seated immediately. We entered through the bar then went to the dining room, very quaint and appealing. My brother selected Eric's as the restaurant of choice for his birthday dinner. Eric's Bistro is a family owned and operated restaurant that is well worth your culinary attention! Tale of the amazing tape: Polenta-Crusted Fried Calamari with Marinara dipping Sauce Not oily at all, with a very light, crispy crunch complementing a decent tenderness and easy chew on the calamari. My sister-in-law is a calamari connoisseur, and she mentioned that it's the best she's ever had. Also, who knew you could use polenta as a coating for a fried dish - it works really well in that capacity! Fried Capellini Cakes Five cakes with marinara dipping sauce. A non-oily medium crispy crunch enrobes the capellini (angel hair) pasta matrix. Though generally not my cup of tea given their bland nature, these cakes are satisfying for those who are fans of this appetizer, especially when dipped in the accompanying marinara sauce. Traditional Caesar Salad I'm afraid I have to strongly disagree with the "traditional" label on this dish. This was beyond traditional - rather, it was an exceptional Caesar salad! It had just enough dressing, which itself had a nice tang imparted to it, most likely via the pulverized anchovies within said dressing . . . Croutons were a soft, light and flavorfully savory crunch. Honestly one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had, I could have easily eaten three or four of these! Loin of Pork Milanese I've never had a Milanese dish before, and was glad to try it for the first time here at Eric's Bistro. The combination of baby arugula, cherry tomatoes, red onions, diced fresh mozzarella, EVOO in a balsamic reduction had a satisfying savory zing. Under this pile of green awesomeness was a large, flat pork loin patty fried up light and proper. It had it's own savory flavor, which was well-complemented when eaten together with the greens. My brother had the same dish except with a piece of salmon, which was tender with a good crisp to it, as befits the Milanese designation. The accompanying roasted red potato chunks were actually crispy, with a good flavor all their own. Stephanie's Double-Cut Pork Chops Comes accompanied by broccoli rabe, hot cherry peppers, onions, garlic, mushrooms and roasted red potatoes. The vegetables have a low-medium peppery finish, most likely imparted to the vegetables by the hot cherry peppers. The pork chops themselves are tender, well-cooked, and not dry. Gingerbread Cheesecake The staff of Eric's surprised us with a little slice of their gingerbread cheesecake, accompanied by a glass of champagne for each of us at the table. The cheesecake had a little zing from the gingerbread crumb crust, and the "Happy Birthday From Eric's" written around the periphery of the plate in chocolate was quite good! The champagne was quite good as well. Tiramisu While not necessarily a fan of tiramisu in general, this one nonetheless had an interesting chocolate twist (see my picture). Conclusion We were very fortunate to have as our server the lovely and attentive Brooke, who was more than gracious during our stay at her family's restaurant. Her father, the owner operator, even came by to say hello and fill our water glasses, which were filled often during our time at Eric's (something which is the mark of a great restaurant). This family owned and operated Italian restaurant has been in business for over eight years, and deservedly so . . . The care and cheerful graciousness with which they treat their customers is well apparent not only in the food they serve, but in the service as well. I can here with family for a nice night out. We were warmly greeted at the door. We had our baby with us so we asked for special seating accommodations which they happily provided. Decor - 5 stars- The decorations were amazing! There were holiday themed ribbons and wreaths, as well as, ornament. It was so nice that you find yourself saying "oh....wow" when you walk into the dining area. It was a very pleasant surprise. The staff (4.5 stars) was very friendly and helpful. The menu had a good mix of classic Italian and a few healthier options. I got the goat cheese stuffed mushroom (4.5 stars) and the wild salmon (4 stars) Both were tasty. I also had some lasagna (5 stars) that my grandmother didn't finish. Negatives - the only negative would be the price, but honestly, you get your money's worth in food quality, decor and service. Overall this was a nice night out and a good experience. We used a groupon which was a good way to bring down the price. They also were advertising restraunt week coming up. I would return. Bought a Groupon and have been wanting to come here for a while. Today was the day! First off, Yelp has the address listed as 70 old country road..it's actually on east old country road, so finding it can be a little tricky. There also isn't much parking before 6. All the street signs behind the restaurant advise no parking until after 6. You can also park in the lawyer's parking lot after 6. I had reservations for an early dinner, 415pm. I parked in front where there were meters. When I went in the restaurant to get change for a dollar, the manager told me that I don't need to pay for the meters after 4pm, and the signs lie. He even offered to pay for my ticket if I got one for not paying the meter. (Note: I didn't get a ticket!) My friend was in some traffic, so I waited at the bar. The beer selection is a little scarce. I went with Sam Adams Summer Ale. As I appeared unsure as to what beer I wanted, the bartender (who was also our waiter) let me try some first. Very generous of him. On to our food... We got a nice complimentary small appetizer of fresh tomatoes, prosciutto, olive oil, Parmesan cheese and a bagel crisp type cracker. It was very tasty. We ordered a flatbread appetizer. It had fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes and basil. Absolutely delicious! So simple, yet so flavorful! The bread basket was fresh and warm. Definitely tasted homemade. For entrees I got mussels arrabbiata, and my friend got penne ala vodka with chicken. Both meals were extremely flavorful and plentiful in size. Eric's is great! We came here for a Christmas Eve meal before meeting with family. Our reservation had us seated almost immediately. The restaurant is split into two rooms which works out since the second room (where we were seated) is far more spacious than the room by the bar. Our waiter was great and cracked jokes while taking wonderful care of us. They offered a holiday prix fix which was lovely and fairly priced. For my app I had the tomato and mozzarella and it came as a little tower, which was great for eating and taking pics for da gram. My entree was the chicken scaripello after seeing so many great reviews on Yelp about it. It was flavorful and SO filling. Dessert was a sampler - my favorite was the cheesecake. While the service is great and the food is tasty, this place has one downfall - the parking. The parking directly behind the restaurant is for tenants that live in the apartments above, the building next door has parking for Allstate (but is free for Eric's patrons to use after 6PM), and Mineola is notorious for having almost no street parking. We had to call the restaurant after circling 5 times and the hostess told us to park behind Allstate. I mean, it all worked out, but the parking is less than ideal (and other customers were saying the same while we dined). I cannot wait to return to Eric's on a regular ol' night and try their everyday menu (which I hear is pretty extensive). read more

Extremely pricey for such small portions, drinks not included. A kid's meal was $30 for mozzarella sticks, penne & meatballs, & vanilla ice cream. Adult meal was $40, for a salad, entree & cannoli. There was such a limited selection and the food was not worth the money at all. For the kids, they had 3 Easter eggs with a mini candy, bunny ears, & a Easter egg worksheet to color waiting at your table. In order to receive a souvenir Easter bunny cup, you had to purchase it. Such a waste of money. Then on top of it, they went around asking if we would like to buy $12 candy bouquets. I have no problem supporting businesses because I have the means to and I understand they need to maintain their business but the quality of food, limited selection and price was a bit much. Staff was very friendly and the decorations were really cute for Easter. It was really unfortunate. The food & price for this event was not at all what I had expected. Maybe their events aren't great but other meals are (according to other reviews)? Possibly. All I know is, I am not interested in returning. Just enjoyed a great Italian meal here on New Year's Day. It sure beat cooking at home. The food was the next best thing to home cooking. We had lasagna. The portion was so big the we shared it. The vegetable ravioli with butternut squash topping was delicious, but the portion was much smaller. The Fillet of Wild Salmon was excellent and the side of vegetables was as well. We also tried the Potabella mushroom stuffed with goat cheese. Out of all the food that we had, I think this was the best. The atmosphere was great...especially since it was decorated for Christmas. They played nice relaxing music...some Italian. I enjoyed that the best. Parking was ample and O was surprised that on a holiday we got a spot right in front of the restaurant. Food was excellent but pricey. Removed two stars for ambiance. The dining room that you get to by going to the back and then left, looked like there may have been some light construction going on. Also the music wasn't coming out of the speakers on the ceiling, it was coming from somewhere near the waiters station/kitchen so it was eerily quiet in the dining area with the only thing to hear was your conversation and others'. I made a reservation for Long Island restaurant week. The staff was friendly and honored the Long Island restaurant week even thought it's supposed to end at 7pm. They had a large party taking up most of the space so they said it would be honored still. The atmosphere is very nice and there was outdoor and indoor dining. Indoor they have lighting lamps that can be adjusted to a brighter blue light or tap it to change it to a more yellow tone. The staff brought over complimentary bread with butter, oil, cheese, and tomatoes. I absolutely loved all of it and ate it up before my appetizer came. We ate tomato and mozzarella as one of our appetizers and it tasted great. We also had the grandmas meatballs as our other appetizer and the name fits. The sauce was so amazing I ended up dipping more bread into it. It made me excited for my choice of my entree which was the grandmas lasagna along with the Boneless chicken scarpariello alla Eric. The Boneless chicken scarpariello alla Eric had an amazing wine sauce. Every bite had so much flavor and it was amazing and so tender. The grandmas lasagna was a personal lasagna that does not disappoint. From the cheese to the sauce, everything was amazing and I was happy about it being a personal lasagna instead of a cut piece. We split both of these entrees to try them both together and I didn't even wanna share! I was already sold on coming back again in the future. We got a dessert sampler to stay and one dessert sampler to go. My personal preference was the dine in sampler since it had a cannoli, tiramisu, and strawberry cheesecake which all tasted absolutely great every single bite. As for the other dessert sampler, it was a cannoli, apple pie or strudel, and some sort of cake. I'm not a fan of apple pie/strudel so it wasn't for me and I prefer chocolate cake but it was still good. Overall I had a great experience and I will definitely be coming back in the future. Went tonight, Saturday, January 28th, with my family and was looking forward to dinner. It's my second time and I had a horrible experience with the food. I ordered the salmon with mix veggies and the middle was raw. I had already eaten few pieces until I noticed it and left the restaurant with stomach pain. I sent it back when I noticed the raw fish but took a long time for staff to realize I needed assistance. Someone acknowledged me then ignore me and called someone else to attend to me. Everyone at my table finished eating then my dish came out the kitchen. I was left to eat alone due to the wait in the kitchen. The only positive experience is the gentleman host who was very nice and friendly. He also ask me if anything was ok with my dish because he saw something was wrong. Been dying to try Eric's because my family frequents here. I got the shrimp franchese with penne pasta which was delicious. The server was attentive and kept coming to make sure everything was great. The only thing was I wasn't a fan of the appetizer the hot anti pasta. The clams were good and so was the fries zucchini but the shrimp wasn't that great. Delicious food. Came with my family of 4. We all enjoyed our dishes. This was my 2nd dining visit. I also enjoyed the menu cocktails. The wait staff are very well trained and very knowledgeable. The owner comes around to each table to greet customers. I don't care if you already have your favorite Italian restaurant- Just give it a try and tell me how the food compares! read more
