We came to Fin Raw Bar & Kitchen for what we hoped would be a special, romantic date night. While the seafood was fresh and nicely presented, the overall experience fell short for us -- especially considering the price point. For a BYOB, our bill came to just under $160 for two entrées, one appetizer, and a dozen oysters. The oysters were $42/dozen, my scallop crab corn salsa special was $47, and the swordfish was $39 -- all of which felt more like fine dining NYC prices than suburban BYOB rates. What really impacted our night, though, was how rushed we felt. From start to finish, our dinner lasted just about an hour. Plates were cleared quickly, the next course arrived almost immediately, and it didn't feel like there was room to linger or enjoy a slower-paced evening together. This was surprising because the restaurant wasn't even full. We left feeling like we had paid for a premium, leisurely dining experience but instead got an expensive, hurried meal. I had a lovely experience at Fin. The standout for me was something simple but well done- the cornbread on the bread plate. It was excellent: chewy, moist, and held together without crumbling. I ordered the branzino over brussels sprouts, which was really tasty and came in a generous portion. The fish was nicely cooked, though I do wish the bottom had been seared for that crispy texture contrast. The bacon in the dish felt unnecessary- it didn't add much and could've easily been left out. The shrimp were flavorful, and overall the meal was satisfying. My friend enjoyed the Salmon. For dessert, the chocolate lava cake was a solid finish- rich but not overwhelming. The service was attentive, though a little too quick at times. Our table was cleared almost immediately, which felt rushed, and it would've been nice if they'd offered a refill on my tea instead of wrapping things up so fast. We were looking for a location to celebrate after my Daughter's graduation. She wanted Oysters. So this place came up in our search. It had good reviews so we took a chance. We were not disappointed. The oysters were fresh. All our plates were delicious. Everyone finished their food. We were 11 people and the service was excellent. It was during the day and it was not crowded. My wife and I went to Fin and had an underwhelming experience. Although the service was attentive, the food and ambiance could have been a lot better. On the food, none of it tasted particularly fresh: My wife's scallops ($48) had an aftertaste that made her think it was frozen. At that price, you should get more than 4 scallops. I had the strozzipretti pasta. All of the fish tasted overcooked, and also seemed like it was potentially frozen. The lobster tail was stuck in the shell so I needed to use my hands to peel it out, as if I was at some kind of seafood boil. Definitely do not order at a formal dinner. In terms of ambiance, it seems like every possible open space in the restaurant is filled by a table. It almost resembles a cafeteria in that way, not an upscale restaurant. Would definitely recommend you go elsewhere if you would like a good seafood dinner. read more

This has been on my radar, and it was exceptional. I Started with the octopus which was very well cooked and not too rubbery and then my salmon was a nice medium rare. The pineapple rice added much needed acidity that usually comes from something like a lemon and was a very nice pairing with the salmon. A bit of a delayed review, but an experience that's worth sharing. My wife and I came into Fin about 2 months ago to enjoy dinner for a night without the kids. We arrived early and were only the 2nd table of the evening, with another table having been sat a decent time ahead of us (since there was already food and drinks on their table). We were sat and got both our drinks and appetizers in a very timely fashion. However, close to 20 minutes after our appetizers had been cleared, there was still no entree. I inquired with our waiter who assured me the food would be out shortly. My wife and I, both having waited tables - saw the server frenetically at the kiosk entering in, what we can only assume, was our entree orders. When another 10min passed and no entree - I brought the issue up to the manager, who seemed annoyed that he needed to do his job, but proceeded to go to the kitchen to check nonetheless. A few minutes later, he came back with both entrees - which he proceeded to toss on the table with an attitude, as if we were a bunch of dogs being thrown a meal. I guarantee he heard me tell my wife that she should go to the car while I settled the bill and handled this appropriately - as he returned with the bill and a very half hearted apology, as well as an excuse about it being "half price oyster night" and the kitchen was "backed up". All this to say - the food is pretty good at an OK price, but the service is absolutely terrible and you can find a much better place to spend your hard earned money. read more

The food was honestly terrible. The branzino was overcooked and only came with a single stalk of asparagus. However, the kitchen didn't skimp on the canned olives and capers they poured over the dish. The canned salt bombs ruined the branzino and completely overpowered whatever saffron they claimed to have put in the dish. Furthermore the lemon was added way too soon to the butter. It was overdone and bitter, completely unable to offset the ugly flavors. The vegetables tasted dry and flavorless like they had been placed out all day. Everything that was grilled tasted astringent. I highly doubt the grill was cleaned. All in all, pretty terrible food. read more

It was good but needed more dressing, which I had to ask for. Also, they didn't bring a sharing plate nor did they spilt the salad. Bad form! My wife's Orange Roughy was tasteles, yet a bit fishy. Peanut sauce was fine, but the mango salsa didn't come together. Our friend''s ravioli was a disaster. Swimming in a pool of bland red sauce. He barely ate it. His wife ordered the wood grilled halibut special. They brought her the Roughy by mistake. It took 20 more minutes to get her dish. Bland. Service here is great. No issue with our waitress. The place is small so you'll be sitting very close to someone if it's a weekend. The lady next to me hit me with her coat as she put it on. You're that close. The menu appears nice but the food lacked flavor. The crab cake appetizer I had was okay. Crab cake is small. I had the scallops special as an entree. It was supposed to have garlic spinach with corn and crab salsa. It was sooo bland. I didn't taste any garlic. The crab was flavorless. I don't plan on ever returning here. My bf had oysters that he enjoyed but he didn't realize a dozen was going to be 40 bucks since there isn't a price on the online menu they have you order from. He had a fish dish for dinner that he felt could have used more salt. Overall we paid 170 for dinner and I felt like it wasn't worth it at all. read more

We ordered the Brussels sprouts and when I took a bite, I found what I thought was a small fish hook in it. It was sharp and pointed on both ends. Thank Goodness I didn't swallow it, I'm also 8 months pregnant. What's more disappointing is that after my husband brought it up to the waiter, they didn't even acknowledge it. We expected a manager to come over or the chef to come out and at least apologize. The sides arrived after we finished our entrées so we sent them back and also mentioned to them that we weren't really excited to continue eating after the hook incident. Only then did the waiter apologize and offer us free dessert. We asked about the hook and he said he believes it might be from the net that they use to fry food, but he would talk to the chef. (Grilled Octopus, Mussels in white wine sauce and Tuna Canolli's- only two but were to die for) all three were DELICIOUS!!!) If I had to say one negative comment it would be that we didn't get any bread to soak up the beautiful white wine sauce on the mussels. Very pleasant outdoor dining experience in Somerset. Delicious BLT Wedge Salad and a very enjoyable Atlantic Swordfish as my main course. In fact, all 4 of us seemed to enjoy our meals immensely. My boss took my team out to dinner here and it was so great! We had most of the appetizers on the many because she loves apps and we did too that night haha! My favorite was deff the squib, it was so fresh and crunch, love it. We had calamari too and oysters which hit the spot. For our main course we all ordered beautiful seafood plates. I got the swordfish on an avocado salad and it was delicious! I was so satisfied and it was so healthy, I would definitely get it again. I think the best thing about this place is that it is BYOB and they don't charge for opening your bottles. We got through 4 bottles of wine which went so well with all our plates. As soon as I walked in and they sat us next to a server station, I knew we were in for a bumpy road. The complimentary bread was interesting with some kind of a bean paste spread? I dunno what it was, but it was awful. On the plus side appetizers were awesome, really good spicy tuna roll. Man was it spicy, everything here kinda has like a Asian fusion twist to it. Had the 7 spice big eyed tuna for $38, definitely not worth it. It was just a simple ahi tuna with vegetable lo mein. This was a really hard restaurant to rate, food was good but lacked in everything else. So for $130, it really wasn't worth it and parking is a nightmare over there. read more

What do you get when you great service and memorable food? You get Fin. I could rave about this restaurant forever, but I'll try to limit myself to the biggest moments. First, the splendid service. The waitress amazed me with her charming personality and downright dandy efficiency. The way she gracefully moved around the table while managing to keep the party involved was something I found truly spectacular. The man responsible for refilling our drinks was also a charm to have around. His ability to notice our conversation and add his two cents was remarkable. The childhood baseball anecdotes were something I treasured. Now, onto the food. The night started strong with some delicious appetizers. The calamari was cooked and seasoned to perfection, the sushi's combination of spice and texture was exquisite, and the bang bang cauliflower was on another level. I'd highly recommend all three, but if forced to choose, the calamari clears the competition. Onto the entrees. Despite my fear of redundancy, I'm going to repeat that I LOVED this food. The taste of the penne vodka and shrimp was unmatched, and my sister could not stop talking about her meal. It was wonderful. However, I have to share a couple of moments that kept Fin from all five stars. During the initial moments at the table, a water spill was left unchecked. The resulting spillage left some members of my party with wet pants. Additionally, I had a small complaint that butter knife were not provided and thus made the butter and bread experience more challenging. Overall, I LOVED my time at Fin, and I'll be looking to make a repeat visit in the future. read more

Can't believe that we waited so long to try this local Summit gem! Our visit here and the food samplings were nothing short of spectacular. The decor is beautiful and for a Tuesday night, it was packed by 7pm. We sampled a few appys...the lobster sliders were right on target and as usual, bacon makes everything even better. Just a small piece complimented the amazing flavor of lobster with a light dressing. The oysters were super fresh and delicious...and too many to choose from. You can ask for their house made mignonette which was refreshing. The lobster and shrimp spring rolls were served with a spicy mustard..yum! If you like tuna, you've gotta try their signature 7 spiced big eyed tuna which was complimented by soba noodles and stir fried veggies. The quality of the tuna was mouth watering and the portion size was quite large. The Shanghai styled lobster and shrimp in a yellow ginger cream curry was delicious and served with spinach and shoestring potatoes. Again the lobster and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The strozzapreti....ah, who has ever had this before??? A nice broth with lobster, shrimp and crabmeat with hand rolled pasta flavored with mint, lemon and crushed red pepper! I was so excited to try this as I was intrigued about it from the menu and I hadn't seen any other yelpers talk about it. It was lighter than the curry with amazing flavors and quite delightful. We also sampled the lobster truffle mac-n-cheese. Extremely rich and cheesy with heavenly chunks of fresh lobster meat. Although we didn't have room for dessert, we ordered it anyway after finding out that they actually have a pastry chef!! The banana tart with a yummy ice cream was very good. The chocolate creme brulee was AMAZING AND DECADENT!!! I savored every bite and I still dream about this dessert! As we rolled home and we wondered why...WHY DID WE WAIT SO LONG TO TRY THIS LOCAL RESTAURANT? I'm not quite sure, but we will be back soon!!! And I can't wait!!! read more
