Came here with a couple of friends on a Saturday night. The dining room was packed which made it very loud and hard to hold a conversation. Our waiter was very nice, but again hard to hear him. We ordered the calamari app which was served in an interesting taco bowl shell. It tasted good and was enough for the 3 of us. For my entree I got the veal piccata which was delicious and tender. 2 hours and 20 mins on xmas eve and only have our starters. Sitter costing $75 an hour. Chaos when we arrived. People waiting everywhere. Maitre de didn't know who should be seated and then just randomly started calling tables with number of seats no matter your reservation time or how long you had been waiting. The loss of the front desk was evident as it reached into the kitchen and at one point no food came out for almost an hour. Disappointing experience on a key family night. Food is ok but ambience consisted of people looking around for their food. Clearly restaurant didn't stick to a 2.5hr plan for each sitting. Everyone expects that in big holidays. On Christmas Eve, we had a 6pm reservation, sat at 6:30, and ordered almost immediately. Our apps didn't arrive until 7:15 and our entree didn't arrive until 8:55. If you plan to have a sensitive conversation, be forewarned that it can be quite loud in the intimate dining room, even when the room was less than half full. The menu features a variety of Italian favorites including pastas, chicken, veal and seafood, which offers enough variety to appeal to everyone (including those with dietary restrictions like gluten or dairy intolerance). My dining companion and I started off our meal by splitting the Tricolore Salad appetizer ($10), a generous portion of fresh radicchio, arugula and endive topped with a tasty white balsamic dressing. The food was good, not great. Same for the service. The food is somewhat over priced and they nickel and dime you. Most places when you order a soft drink they charge $2.50 to $3 and offer free refills. This place charges $3.50 with the same charge for refills. The drinks are mostly ice. Another nickel and dime feature is a charge of 3% for using a credit card, calling it an operating fee. Credit card usage is part of the cost of doing business and they bring in business. The restaurant itself is very nice, but the wait staff was not pleasant, service bordered between over-bearing to inattentive (yes two extremes). There were 6 of us and 4 of us did not enjoy our meals - some of the concerns were salty, undercooked risotto, bland with no flavor, etc. Overall, we would not return. We were just almost finished with desert and coffee and we were addressed by the waiter that we had to leave immediately someone was waiting for our table....then as my friend asked him to go away until we were finished and he grabbed my friend by the arm and was very aggressive. we had arrived at 6:00 for our reservation and at 7:15 they told us to leave and presented us with a bill of over 300.00. Went for dinner last night to have a romantic evening . The acoustic in the restaurant is so loud !!! I could hear the whole conversation two tables away . They are supposed to fix it apparently . We ordered several pasta dishes and all were pretty bad. I didn't know you can screw up pasta. The fusilli was the worst. Imagine pasta served in the water you boil broccoli. No trace of olive oil, or sauce, just bitter watery taste. The wine was awful too - they only serve NJ wines, ok fine, but can it be drinkable? For 60 a bottle it shouldn't smell and taste like vinegar. Service was all right - although they all think they work in a much higher rated establishment - trim the 3 Michelin start 'tude a tad. For appetizers we shared the calamari which was good, the octopus which was also good and the clams which were soggy and awful. We had the veal sorrentino which was poor, the veal Milanese which was poor and the salmon which was meh at best. Each dish came with whipped cold potatoes(no other choices) and vegetables( no other choice). We shared slice of Ricotta Cheesecake which was overly sweet and dry. A very underwhelming experience.
