I recently moved to Mount Sinai. I used to get my hair done in Great Neck. I did try a local Salon but they totally destroyed me. I was just going to go back to my old Salon. I was about to start traveling an hour and a half one way back there to get my hair done. And then I found Finale Hair on a recommendation. I have a short cut and Lenny, my forever Stylist, has brought me back to where I should be. He fixed the disaster that a stylist I had tried out here had done. Lenny is just amazing. He is beyond words. He has made me look good again. (Well, as good as I'm gonna get, lol) Lenny made me feel good about myself again. Now Color...I have gray hair that is very resistant to color. Someone has to know what they are doing. And here comes Anna, my new colorist. She was able to fix the botched up job that was done to me by a previous colorist that I also had tried out here. She actually lightened my hair a shade or two and I have to tell you that my friends and family all love it, and so do I. She is wonderful. And the staff are wonderful. I had my hair colored by Karla several times and consistently found her brusque and emotionally distant, starting from the very first appointment. Despite always tipping generously and showing up respectfully, I was met with coldness, passive-aggression, and a noticeable lack of basic courtesy or acknowledgment unless prompted. At one visit, she ruined a favorite shirt of mine by getting dye on it. Her demeanor felt more about control than care, which made the experience uncomfortable over time. In my experience, Karla may exhibit covert narcissistic traits -- emotionally withholding, passive-aggressive, and unable to engage warmly unless it benefits her image. I would not recommend booking with her. There are plenty of stylists who know how to pair skill with basic human decency. read more

I asked to have my hair colored at Finale. by Emma. I showed her a picture and asked her if she would be able to match that color for me. She said she could get get close to the color, which was a more vibrant, intense variation of the color I had. The color I asked for was orange. The color I walked out with after two attempts to get it right was a burnt red color with some orange in it. Before coloring, I had asked if my hair would need to be lifted to achieve the result I wanted, and was told no. After the second attempt, I asked that they lift the ends to get the color closer to my choice. I was told they would not do that, in order to protect the integrity of my hair. The previous day the colorist had commented on how thick and healthy my hair is. I then asked for my money back, and they refused. It cost me almost $150.00, including tipping the colorist and shampoo assistant twice, and the color looks nothing like the image I showed them. One other excuse they tried to use was, that the photo was filtered. But the color I showed them was the color I showed them, regardless of whether it was filtered. If a reasonable approximation was not possible based on what I actually showed them, then they should have said we cannot do that when I first asked them read more

I had a great experience at this salon. I'm away from my home country and having dark straight Asian hair, I've had little luck finding a salon that does a good job on my hair. I found this place that had a great review and I gave it a try. My hair colorists Leah and hair dresser Brielle both did an amazing job and made what I've imagined and wanted come true. Wonderful salon. I always get my hair done by my aunt, but she lives in California. So I have to wait until she visits in the summer. I have tried so many other salons with no luck to get a good cut or color. (I grow out my hair and donate it every few years, more often if I have no highlights or dyes in my hair) I found out about this place and have not been disappointed, quite the opposite. I had a horrible highlight job and cut from another place. Leah was the colorist who did a fabulous job fixing my color. I then had summer cut my hair, she worked her manic and I looked amazing. I did use the wrong shampoo and stripped my color by accident, but Leah took me right in as soon as she saw my hair and re-applied the toner with a smile. I will be coming back again. Visited Finale for the first time a month ago. The experience was incrediable. Place is stunning and the staff is wonderful but, what really impressed me was Anna. I have not ever had a stylist spend so much time to talk with me to find out the exact hair style I was looking for. I was in the process of trying to manage a really bad hair cut I had received from another salon and she took her time to let me know my options. The end result was amazing. I just got a great haircut from Summer. Sassy and classy, just like I wanted. She listened to my ideas and explained what she was going to do very well = no surprise haircut when you don't want one. She was really careful and meticulous, making sure that each lock of hair fell just right. I don't think I ever loved this salon more than I do right now. I have been going to Finale for around 4 years now. When I first went I had a terrible haircut and they fixed it amazingly!! This happened for the next 3 times as well because I kept going to different salons who gave me terrible haircuts. Recently my family thought it would be a good idea for me to branch out to a different salon because of money issues, granted this other salon was $10 less, but I still tried because I had long enough hair from my shoulders to put into a ponytail. With this new salon, I went the first time it was bad, showing a photo of the style I wanted with a similar texture, thickness and curl pattern. I later then called the other salon and they told me to come in ending up making things worse. Every time I go to Finale they always do an amazing job and this whole experience taught me I need to be more open when talking about my haircut because of my social anxiety. I also have curly hair, granted Finale can work into knowing how to cut curly hair better, but after that other situation at a different salon, I will stick to Finale no matter what!! read more

Recently went to Finale for a haircut. I had never been there and didn't know what to expect but it was recommended by a few people so i wanted to give it a try. The salon itself is cozy and inviting, I felt at ease right away and everyone there was very nice. Tiffany cut my hair and she was great. Before we began she sat me down and asked me lots of questions about the look i wanted and was very professional. The haircut turned out really lovely! She dried my hair and was so fast and gentle, I usually dread that part because it seems to take forever but Tiffany was really talented and the end result was great! Was looking forward to a low maintenance highlight and cut. Came in with pictures of exactly what I wanted and neither my hair cut or color looks remotely like the pictures I brought. I have never been so upset with a hair service as I am now. Going to have my ELECTRIC red highlights (actually too much colored to even call it highlights) fixed by another salon this week. The color is so intense and only on the outer layers and placed mainly on the back of my head. It is horrific and I am simply embarrassed to go to work this week. Despite the fact I told Lenny I wanted the back long because it it difficult to straighten otherwise, he butchered the back even shorter. I can't even pull it back to hide some of the electric red because it is so short. Jill colored it and never even checked on the color to see how it turned out. Now I know why they didn't show me the back in a mirror as a professional salon usually does. I spent $190 + $40 in tips CASH ONLY for a horrific outcome. read more

I have been a customer at this salon for over 5 years. I left after my appointment today so angry that my hands were shaking. I have never been late for an appointment, never cancelled at the last minute or missed a scheduled appointment. I can understand if a client arrives late and you run a few minutes behind or if traffic is crazy and the stylist arrives after your scheduled appointment (both have happened). If I am in your establishment at my appointed time and you have seen me and acknowledged that I am present then I expect you to take me at my appointed time. I do not expect that you "squeeze in" a blowout while I sit with my hair soaking wet waiting 20 minutes for you to finish. I have exactly two days off and I schedule many things during those days. Your lack of understanding that all of our time is important caused me to be late for my next appointment! This is unacceptable. To top it off the stylist I saw was the owner and he didn't even apologize for keeping me waiting. As a result of this I will not return to the salon. Customer service should be a number one priority and today was the straw that broke the camels back.I sure hope it was worth the tip she gave him to lose a long time customer. read more

I got my haircut April 2014. I have not had a haircut since. It had to be the worst haircut I have ever gotten. I am seriously afraid to get my hair cut, because nobody ever listens. I brought in pictures front and back, talked to the hairstlylist. I told her short in the back, long in the front. While cutting my hair she asked if shoulder length was good in the back, I said yes. For some reason she cut it at the nape of my neck instead. She cut the top of my hair leaving only 2 inches from my cowlick! She asked if I was growing my bangs out, I said yes. But she started cutting them anyway, deep into the rest of my hair. My bangs were cut just below my nose, so thick I constantly had hair in my face, I could not put it behind my ears. For three months I had to wear a clip in my hair, even at bed time, until I gave up and cut myself some bangs. I pretty much had bangs around my whole head. The haircut was not symmetrical at all.
