They have these great leather, curved chairs for the shampooing station which are SUPER comfortable. They also have beverages and snacks available. Caterina took FOUR inches off my hair. The length I was left with was PERFECT. She also did a beautiful blow out (see photo). I would definitely go back just for the blowout next time I have an event. Cost for a cut/blowout for my thick/long hair was $55, which is pricier than other salons, but so worth it for me. I only cut my hair 1-2x/year and I much rather pay a little more knowing I'll be 110% happy with the results.

I do not mind paying for value but the service absolutely does not match the price attached to color and service. Even the labor -considering was poor- did not meet my expectation. The color barely on my head and it is beginning to fade. I use quality hair products at home and know how to make the color last but for such an expensive salon I don't believe that it is worth the visit.

Have been going to Alicia at Prism for years for color and cuts. Really love the job she does. She is experienced and multi-talented. My hair always looks great when I walk out the door. I haven't thought about changing salons since I receive the nicest compliments from people about my hair. I consider their pricing to be competitive with other local salons that my friends tell me about but I don't have to put up with the finicky treatment they get from their stylists! In fact, I have referred many friends to Prism and they all keep going back. Everyone there is friendly and accommodating. The salon is on the first floor of a St. James village home and has a comfortable and cozy feel to it. I'm usually taken on time when I arrive. Only negative of this place is the one time I went on a freezing cold Sat when it was very busy, the hot water ran out so I had to endure a cool shampoo but the hair dryer warmed me up quickly. Friends tell me that is not uncommon for a busy salon, so now I know not to go on a Sat. afternoon in winter! BTW, Tracey does great manicures there as well. read more

I like to maintenance/style change my hair as often as I change my toothbrush. Since working in the city for the last 7 years, every so often I would try a trending salon or stylist in Soho or Chelsea, I've even hauled to the upper west side..always pretty satisfied but I never return-I'm so happy I found Prism. To start, I appreciate that the manager comes from a family line of Air Traffic Controllers..it always looks like smooth sailing...and if it's not...you would never know. I've been going to Alicia, and I don't think there is any going back. She never flinches when I show her my latest style from Pinterest. You know you are in a good salon when 6 Master stylist are working at once and vibing. I also appreciate when the next generation or assistants are so curious to learn and watching every move of The Stylist. Took my mother to Prism Wellness as a Mother's Day gift to get a massage and I have to say I was not disappointed. I got a Groupon and of course before making my purchase I read Yelp reviews. In the beginning I was skeptical because it seemed like most of the reviews were about hair, it made think it was just a salon so where would the spa be? Considering nobody wants to listen to blow drying while trying to relax.. I took my chance and I have to say I am not disappointed. The spa is upstairs and you can hear a pin drop. The masseuse Linda was amazing. Super sweet, asked where the most tension is and really worked out those knots I had without hurting me during the massage. 10/10 would recommend not only this place but Linda in specific to anyone. I can't say enough about the amazing job Brianna did on my hair! I came in with a disaster of orange tones and uneven chunks of color from a previous colorist, and she completely transformed it. She blended in the most beautiful, natural highlights to my naturally black colored hair--the exact look I had originally wanted. On top of that, she gave me a haircut that works perfectly for both my naturally curly and straight styles, which is so hard to find. My experience at Collectove was by far the best experience I have had as an adult in a hair salon . The vibe the zen feeling and the down to earth sense I got from Christina and the rest of the crew Brooke the hair washer and ever the other guests was nothing short of amazing . I was warmly greeted and well cared for throughout my entire time at the salon. I had genuinely nice and meaningful conversations during my services with both Emmy and Briana. I felt very validated while sharing my hair care values. One example that really stood out was parting my hair to show off my aspiring gray stripe. Serena is not only a talented stylist, she's a kind person and great listener! Each time I've been to the salon, she is attentive and able to provide me with the style I'm hoping to achieve and what my hair actually needs. I got my haircut by Talia after having a super rough week. I had never been to Prism before despite living in the area and I can confidently say that I won't let anyone but Talia cut my hair from here on out. Before even washing my hair she made sure to ask what I usually do with my hair and what works best for me. What a nice surprise when arriving at the salon today, they have started giving the salon a little change. It looked beautiful with new painted windows, and accents around the product wall. They are always trying to make you feel special whenever you go to the salon. Serena gave me a single process today, it came out fabulous as usual. She cuts hair, styles and does amazing extensions. I never had them done and I would highly suggest trying them out. They are lightweight, real beautiful hair. They couldn't have been nicer & gave her an appointment with Emmi. She explained everything before starting to cut her hair and during the entire haircut. Beware: My daughter went to Razing Hair to get her hair lightened, she brought in a picture of very…read morelight hair so they could see what she wanted. She unfortunately ended up with mousy brown, grey, mud colored hair. She also came home and all the dark dye was left all around her face and through her roots. She had to plead to have them try and fix it. When she went back they (mainly the owner Chris) were rude and short tempered with her. They even said if you just keep washing it, it will lighten up, which means they only used semi-permanent color. They did blow it out and she was hoping she could live with it, but the next day she was crying that they ruined her hair. I then tried calling the owner to discuss having my daughter get her money back, since she was charged $245 for them to destroy her hair. Chris not only was rude and sassy, to say the least, he hung up on me twice and when he finally calmed down and would talk and not scream at me, he said he is sure the only reason my daughter hated her hair was because I told her she looked terrible and then of course he hung up. Even though I was completely disgusted by his comments, I called Razing Hair back to try one more time to rationalize with Chris, but he wouldn't get on the phone, however, when he finally called me back he said he searched and found a picture of my daughter on social media that looked like she loved her hair after it was fixed and he also went on to say that if I continued to call him about this issue he would call my place of work and get me fired for harassment. After all this, the terrible job they did on my daughter's hair and the way we were both spoken to, Chris, the owner actually dared to threaten my livelihood just so he didn't have to do the right thing as a business owner and reimburse an 18 year old, so she could go somewhere else to get her hair fixed. He even continued to say that the last person who tried this he (Chris) actually made sure they got fired from their job. I am flabbergasted that he even has clients. If you want light blond hair, without muddy ash, then Razing Hair is not the place for you. There are numerous talented hairdressers in the towns around where they are located and I suggest you try those, so you can avoid such a horrible experience with a person like Chris, and you will also avoid having him threaten getting you fired from your job just because you are not satisfied with the job they do on your hair. The most ironic part is his website states that they have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed!! Guess that is a lie!!

When I sent a picture to the spray tech, she originally said she didn't see what was wrong when it's clear in the pictures. I then circled the areas and sent it back. I was told to put baby power on my creases ... which wasn't the issue at all and no amount of baby powder can fix a bad spray. Very inexperienced spray tech. I would avoid at all cost.

So I said, sure, why not! Let me tell you, another fantastic experience!!! I was greeted and styled by Karen. She brought my hair back to life, literally. With a last minute appointment, she did everything possible to help me. I wasn't sure what I wanted. She gave me advice and tips and I trusted her expertise. She took over 2 hours working her magic in order to make me happy. She's a great stylist and so friendly too. Trust me, I was a very happy girl, yet again! I no longer mind going out of my way, because now I know that even over time: the service, quality and overall experience will always be great. I've been here three times each time they have squeezed me in to accommodate my schedule and I have left happier each time then the last!! I sent two other of my friends here and they love it!! Nicole is GREAT!! Very accommodating and friendly and Cheryl the owner was AWESOME!!! You would have never known she was the owner you would just think what a great employee.... she helps out and works as hard as everyone else!!! Love this place!!!! I think if you haven't tried it and are hesitant don't be give it a try you will be AMAZED and I'm sure you will LOVE it just as much as myself and friends do!!!!

I called ahead on a Saturday morning to ask if they had availability for a wash and blowout and was…read moretold yes. The only question asked was if I'd been there before, nothing about my hair length or thickness. I arrived at 10:30am, confirmed I just wanted a wash and blowout, and mentioned it was for a special occasion and I wanted a quick blowout to save time doing it myself. The wash lasted maybe 3 minutes with no detangling, and my hair went straight from soaking wet to a round brush and blow dryer. I showed a photo and asked for a bouncy blowout, but the stylist kept insisting on using a curling iron, which I didn't want. She also kept commenting on my hair's length and thickness. By 11am she had another client waiting and my hair wasn't even halfway done, and it felt like things were rushed from that point on. I eventually just let her use the curling iron so I could leave. She was friendly, but the result was not what I asked for. I ended up going home and curling my hair myself because it definitely didn't look like I had just been to a salon. Overall, a disappointing experience.
