This adorable male Shepherd was already a sweetheart loved by all, but he had a few bad manners. In the initial session Anton and I discussed the key behaviors I wanted to be addressed, pulling on the leash while walking, and my dogs barking reaction to strangers in the home. Not only have these behaviors been addressed but also so much more than I asked for, I have a much better relationship with my furry friend than ever before. I get so many great compliments about Lestat's behavior while we are in public, at restaurants, and at the dog park. When strangers are invited into the home now, Lestat will lay quietly in his SPOT until released. I love that Anton explains the why behind each skill learned. Understanding the canine mindset and about respect is more important and just going through the motions of the techniques. The more we practice the more we continue to improve. The shop is small but I was drawn to the cageless grooming so dogs aren't kenneled the whole time. Aniyah took time putting the loose dogs behind the gates so they could test taking Penny back and she instantly warmed up to her as she walked back. When I rescued Penny, she had never been groomed so her quicks are pretty long, but I liked how they utilize the "alternative cut" style then filing each nail so it's short as possible. While she was nervous on the table, Aniyah did a great job talking to her the whole time and kept her as comfortable as possible. Forgot to take the before, but they came out amazing afterwards. When I arrived to pick him up, they suddenly told me the bill was $106 instead. The employee even admitted that THEY made a mistake with the quote. I explained that customers should not be forced to pay for the company's error, but instead of honoring the quoted price, they gave me the manager's number and told me to call. I texted multiple times and received absolutely no response. Meanwhile, my dog was essentially being held until I paid the higher amount. I had no choice but to pay the extra money just to bring my pet home. Mistakes happen, but good businesses take responsibility for them. Happy Pet's Palace chose not to. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and refusal to honor their own quoted price was incredibly unprofessional. I would strongly caution others to get EVERYTHING in writing before leaving their pets here.

Justin is absolutely amazing, he along with, the team offers holiday photos, paw print paintings and enrichment activities for the dogs and their family. He did bobbing for apples last Halloween and I was sure niether of my pups would do this, but sure enough, they did it! One other thing I am grateful for...there is a vet literally at the end of the building they can be taken to, iff something were to happen while boarding and and Urgent Care not 5 mins down the road. He fully owned the issues I had and followed up to help. They were able to find the toys (they had accidentally gone home with the wrong family, which I'm sure happens from time to time). I was offered a full refund and left the conversation with Raul expressing a sincere hope to improve my experience in the future. All that said I would try again at this location. ---------------------------------------------------- I went on a short weekend trip and brought my dog here for boarding. My dog is still learning and very over-stimulated by other dogs so we knew going into it we would be doing the private room boarding. We asked to see the room before we left and the staff member seemed hesitant to show us - I think maybe because they were still cleaning it up. The private room is just a concrete room the size of a larger closet, but we brought his dog bed and toys and stuff and didn't see an issue with it because it was way better than a kennel or something. Reasons for the low rating: - Lost toys: We dropped him off with a bag of food/treats, a dog bed, and a bag of his favorite toys (tug rope, football, 3 bones). When we picked him up, they had lost the bag of toys. We are a bit frustrated, as dog toys can be expensive. During the last day of his boarding, apparently our dog ripped up his dog bed to shreds. I am not blaming that on Mak Pack...my dog can be a little destructive especially if stressed or bored. But it did make me wonder if he had his toys with him in the room at any point. Since the toys were lost, maybe he didn't have anything to chew on and ended up ripping up his bed. - Poor communication. We were told we would get daily "pupdates". We dropped him off on Friday morning and did not hear anything until Saturday afternoon. Since this was his first time boarding, I reached out through the text number on their website multiple times and never got a response. The update we did finally get was very brief. He looked scared in the picture (which to be fair is expected) and the note said he was happy and getting lots of attention. I would have liked more detail - did he play with other dogs? did he behave? Is he eating normally? etc...I understand there are a lot of dogs so staff is probably busy but that communication would go a long way. - No bathroom - everything is indoor so there's no designated place to relieve themselves. In the private room they are let out about 4 times a day. When I picked him up on Sunday he immediately relieved himself outside as if he had been holding it in all day. I think most dogs would not want to go in the room they're sleeping in, especially if trained not to do that.
