DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. Here is what happened to me recently: July 25: 10:30 AM I go to Finest Fit cleaners to see if they can alter two jackets. The owner tells me to come back after 3 PM when she does alterations. Fair. July 26: 3:30 PM I return to Finest Fit the next day, she takes my measurements. The interaction is positive and she promises me I will have my items on August 9. Great...or so it seems. August 9, 4 PM I show up. The owner looks perplexed then tells me - it's not done yet. I look confused then realize she's not kidding. She hasn't done it yet. "Can you come back tomorrow?" "Um, no, I need this jacket for a trip that is tomorrow." Then she proceeds to give me attitude for not helping her find a solution... TO THE PROBLEM SHE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR. Hang on, I tell her. You've had TWO weeks to do this and you didn't. That's a you problem. She tells me to come back tomorrow. I tell her 8 AM. She says 10 AM. Fine. August 10, 10 AM I return as agreed, having had to upend my schedule to make her timeline work. First of all, there's no bell or alarm to indicate someone is there, so you have to shout into the ether to get someone's attention. She brings out the jacket and I move to try it on. "You don't have to try it on. It's perfect," she exclaims. "Well, if you rushed this, I need to make sure it fits, since your first attempt and getting it on time did not work." It fits, but upon later inspection it's shoddy sewing. Then she quotes the bill - $96 for the two jackets. Doesn't offer me a discount or any compensation for the fact that I had to upend my entire schedule because of her mistake. "It's like you don't really want me to be a repeat customer," I tell her. She then claims that she's understaffed and tries to elicit some sympathy but I don't really have much to give. She's not given me a real apology to this point nor attempted to show me she cares. When I try to get her to realize she's not leaving me in a great place, she scoffs and says, "Okay goodbye" and turns her back on me. I come home and one of the jackets is okay. The other is super poorly stitched, with threads hanging out, and the edge of the sleeve is uneven. --- I wish I had seen Lucas B's review from December 2020. She definitely pulled the same hostility on me for wanting to try my items on before I left. So my advice to you is simple: DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. read more

BEWARE...The woman who runs this joint is a disgrace. First time customer here and it'll be the last! Her disrespectful attitude towards me was vulgar, obnoxious, and quite frankly offensive. There was no decent changing place for alterations. When I came back a week later, she scoffs at me for requesting to try on the garments before paying. She had the audacity to fight with me and say "oh I don't have time for that, you go home and try." LiKE WHAT?? I never, ever, paid someone for alternations and tells me to pay first, leave, and go home and try on. Like nooooo. That's bad business and seems to me that this woman does not understand how basic business works or how to treat someone. But wait, it gets better. Before paying I get my way and try on my garments and she walks away. The sheet she has hanging up for a "changing room" was a joke and I'm pretty sure I gave everyone in the parking lot a show for getting naked while changing. The woman returns and scoffs at me again mumbling under her breath. I was sure she was cursing me. And I finally said "EXCUSE ME, WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?" And she retorts "new clients are always hard to please. You don't realize how hard I work and that I pressed your things without added charged. I am best." I said "LOOK lady, I'll be the judge if your the 'the best' or not, and I did not request service for my garments to be pressed. That's why it took you so long. You're telling me you did extra services on my garments that I did not request?!" I lost it people. This woman really got under my skin and I got the heck out of there. She LOST MY BUSINESS and I will NEVER RETURN. Also, when I got home, I noticed all these loose ends that I was forced to hem myself. It was a sloppy and clearly rushed operation. I recently purchased a dress at Anthropologie to wear for my engagement photos. The dress was one size too big, and was in need of some repairs and a good cleaning. Anthropologie gave me an incredible deal plus a 10% off coupon for Finest Fit to do the repairs. I stopped by Finest Fit early Monday before work to drop off the dress and my fiancé's shirt for cleaning/alterations. When I told the woman at the counter that I needed alterations, she told me to come back in two hours. I responded that I couldn't because I had to get to work. The woman tried to pin the dress up herself but stopped in the middle of the fitting and told me she didn't know what she was doing, and that the owner needed to do this so I would have to wait while she called her. I accepted that I would be running late for work because my engagement photos were in one week and I needed to get this done. Fifteen minutes later when the owner came in, she complained about my coming in during prom season because she was so busy. I wasn't sure what to make of it other than to say, "I'm sorry you're busy, but you don't have to take the job if you don't want to." She spun me around on the stand and told me that I didn't have the right shoes and I wasn't wearing the bra I should be wearing, and that my dress required a ton of work that would be really difficult for her to get done. I told her that was why I took the dress to be professionally altered and didn't try to fix it on my own sewing machine; I asked her to please alter the dress as best as she could and said that I would be okay with it if the dress wasn't an absolutely perfect fit. She motioned for me to change and told me I would have to come back tomorrow more properly prepared for my fitting. Before we went any further I asked her to give me a quote for how much it would cost. She thumbed the fabric and blurted out an outrageous number, almost three times the cost of the dress. I told her I was sorry but that I wasn't willing to pay that much. Without another word, she started scoffing and plucking pins from my dress and tossing them aside. She pushed the dress across the counter and told me she didn't have time to work on the dress anyway. I thanked her for her time and left. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But, being busy and stressed is no reason to be rude to a potential customer. A simple, "I can't take on any new orders right now because how overwhelmed we currently are," would have sufficed. Instead, she made me feel guilty for even daring to bring in such a difficult order on such a busy week. I took the dress to another tailor immediately after my visit and had a much better experience. No 10% off coupon is worth the hassle. read more

Hae is a genius seamstress! She is so sweet and accommodating. If something isn't quite right, she will fix any problems immediately. She mostly runs the whole business by herself bc she has a hard time finding an assistant who meets her level of perfectionism. Sometimes you might have to wait a little bit for clothing alterations, however, it is always worth the wait! My family has been faithfully going to her for almost ten years. She has made clothing for me and she alters all of our store-bought items perfectly. She can create or re-create anything. We also use her pick-up dry cleaning service, because it is green and perc-free (no bad chemicals). Her work is high quality, but keep in mind: she is a small-business owner who is very busy. If you want quality work and quality dry-cleaning, but don't mind waiting a little bit for good work, Finest Fit is the fit for you. read more

Worst dry cleaner ever! Over priced to the point of walking out feeling like you have been robbed. And then when asked why a shirt was completely wrinkled was given an excuse of that is the type of fabric it is, it's not supposed to be pressed. Really a man's work shirt should be wrinkly??? Hay has good tailoring but poor organizational skills. She has become very busy and makes unrealistic promises because she is nice; she really needs an assistant to help make sure alterations are completed on time. If you go here, tell her you need the item a week or two before you really do to make sure your item is ready when you need it. read more

Way over priced for alterations! She wanted to charge $50 for just fixing the straps of a dress and said it was because the dress is silk when it's polyester. Store front is a mess and there's not a decent place to change when trying on clothes for alterations. read more

Hay is a good seamstress but disorganization and disarray caused too many mistakes for me to return. Alterations are not ready when promised, and they frequently are not done correctly (too loose, too tight, etc) or only partially completed (for example, hem done but neckline forgotten). It is not a lack of ability; she just does not keep good track of what she is supposed to do on each garment. read more

We'd used Finest Fit for years as our cleaner, so when it came time to choose a dressmaker to do the alterations for our daughter's wedding dress I knew we could trust Hay at Finest Fit. Hay not only did some major alterations--like removing one of the two corsets--to make the wedding dress really flatter the bride, but she also did the alterations on my dress to improve the fit. Of course, she also hemmed the dresses. Six days before the wedding, Chicago had a short but powerful storm that knocked out the power at Finest Fit and nearby businesses. Hay leased a generator for the day just so she could work on my daughter's dress! Luckily, the power was restored the following day, but we appreciated that she went to the extra expense and still honored the price she gave us. Hay is a delightful person who takes an interest in her customers and was as excited about the wedding as we were. I'm so glad we made this choice. Finest Fit offers the best alterations, seamstress services, and dry cleaning in the Chicago area. Hae, the owner, is accommodating and very sweet. I have never had a problem with her timing whatsoever, and she has a great staff. She consistently delivers exactly what we wanted, and she is ultra conscientious. We've asked her to: sew new clothes from scratch; copy outfits we liked from pictures; and alter many dresses, tops, pants and suits. We also use her weekly service for dry cleaning.
