If I could give them a negative 10, I would. These people are like used car salesmen. Super nice to your face, but really shifty. I was warned by my friend who is a property manager who has used them in the past, but he said all flooring guys are like that, and these guys do good work, so I called them. The price kept changing. On everything. They told me a price, and then later, it went up. It literally seems like a game with them. Carpet was quoted at $20 a yard. Then it was $30, then they "came down" to $25, claiming the original price quoted was a "mistake". I should have walked then, but foolishly continued because I didn't want to start over. They told me "we do polished concrete!" They don't, they sub it out. Quoted me $7.50 a square foot for the polished concrete. I got bids at $3.50. They then agreed to do it for $3.30... the price they were originally quoted, and they urged me to "let them do all the flooring so they could coordinate the different crews. I foolishly agreed to this, and even offered to give them $3.50, just to be nice... and clearly, being nice is viewed as an excuse to try to get more money out of someone because the nonsense continued. The communication between the sales team and the workers is atrocious. Carpet guys showed up, had no idea they were supposed to pre-cut everything at the warehouse. So they had to pack up, leave and come back the next day. Sales person, Roxy, claims she told them this. The workers told me no one told them this, nor was it on the paperwork. Wood flooring guys came, had no idea they were supposed to fix a bump in the upstair floor. Roxy tells me she told them this. Not on the paperwork either. Apparently the workers attempted to fix the bump in the floor by HAMMERING the crap out of the floor, so hard, that they broke drywall on the ceiling below, and literally knocked a sprinkler cover off the ceiling below that was 25' away from where they were working. I discovered this the second day, when NO ONE SHOWED UP to finish the job. I call in. Lots of apologies from everyone. Nobody knows why they aren't there. Bernard, the owner, was "out of cell range" and couldn't reach out.... yet he was somehow able to communicate with his people via text, but couldn't text me. The sales person told me on Friday, "I'll get in touch over the weekend and set up a time for Monday for us all to meet." Then never called. Monday, I get a text, that maybe Tuesday we can meet. There's always an excuse, always a story. When I call the sales person's cell, it gets sent to voicemail.... my guess? She doesn't want to deal with it. I'd NEVER use this company again, ever. Dishonest business practices, shoddy communication, shoddy work, and I had to chase them to finish the job. That's what I experienced with Tri Star Carpet and Flooring, and I'd NEVER use them again read more

At the suggestion of a friend, I hired Tri Star to do my floors....BIG MISTAKE! The work was of the poorest quality. The floors were coming off within the first week and they did come and make some repairs (because I still owed for part of the work) but as soon as I had paid for the job in full, they stopped returning my calls and failed to make much needed additional repairs. My floors are still coming undone and they were installed less than 6 months ago. Thanks for nothing Tri Star, I hope someone reports you to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Worst customer service ever!!!! It took two weeks and what seemed like a thousand calls to get them to finally come out and measure my windows for blind installation, and now it's been two weeks since they came out and still quote. I've called Jenny many times and it seems like there's always one excuse after another. After a month of wasting my time I think it's time to find someone who actually want's my business and isn't going to keep giving me the run around. I've dealt with them many times in the past and have referred many friends to them but NEVER AGAIN shall I do business with Tri Star. I hired Tri Star a few years ago for my aunts modular home after the Sayre fire destroyed almost all 600 homes at the Oakridge Mobile home park back in 2008. Her home sits across a huge mountain ridge & luckily she was able to get her 2 cats & 2 dogs out before the fire had reached the bottom of the ridge. My aunt's home was one of the few that didn't get completely destroyed. However there was water damage from the firefighter's trying to put out the flames from her neighbors home. It took almost 2 years for my aunt to be able to completely move back in. This is when I hired Tri Star to repair the water damaged floors in her bedroom as well as the blinds. I had spoke with Bernard who was very compassionate. I told him we were still waiting for the insurance company to approve our claim & that we might not be able to get a check for another 6 - 7 months but we really needed to get the work done ASAP. Saul had scheduled a very nice guy out to take measurements the next day, then a week later there was a crew of guys hauling away the old carpet & blinds. The entire job took about 2 weeks to complete due to the parks restrictions on what was hauled out of the property. When they were finished it was like they were never there. Left it clean & beautiful. I would reamend Tri Star to all my friends. They were very compassionate & efficient in my aunts time of need. read more

The absolute WORST customer service I have ever experienced. First, we spent several hours at their showroom, and with one of their designers at the house, and ended up spending several thousand dollars on an order for both motorized and conventional blinds. We were given a time frame for the order being delivered and installed. Then we got a call that one of the styles of blinds we had selected -- which was on display in their showroom -- was not available. So, we had to go back and make a different selection. The date for delivery and installation came and went, and despite several phone calls to our sales rep (NONE of which were returned), we were not able to get information about our order. Finally, we got a call back. The installers came out and installed everything, but the motorized blinds were not installed properly -- they kept binding on the door frame. So, we had to have them come back to fix that problem. Then, about a year later, we had a problem with the remote control for the motorized blinds. I made at least three calls to Tri Star, explained the problem to the person answering the phone, and asked for help. Each time I was told someone would call me back. NOT ONE of those calls was returned. I finally found the information I needed on the Internet, and fixed the problem myself. Lastly, our motorized blinds began to run slowly, but when I went to change the batteries I found that Tri Star had used old batteries, and they had all leaked in the battery holders, ruining them. I had to get new ones from Amazon. And on the subject of the battery holders, Tri Star used quality Somfy battery holders to power cheap motors for the blinds, and the Somfy battery holders were just spliced in and taped in an amateurish fashion. Bottom line -- Save yourself the aggravation, and do business with a company that cares about customer service. That's not Tri Star. You might spend a little more money, but at the end of the day you'll have less aggravation and will have customer service and support when you need it. read more

Working with contractors is a hit and miss affair. Sometimes it goes smoothly, other times it's a downright nightmare. Four years ago we gutted, expanded and totally remodeled our 2250 square foot single-level home. It was a 4 month project and the general contractor suggested a floor contractor to supply and install our hardwood flooring. After interviewing the salesman we decided we needed someone more responsive and understanding of our needs, A friend recommended TriStar based on a previous job. We met with the owner and immediately knew that he had the experience and compassion to get our job done right. He offered a beautiful hardwood material that he was able to get at a very good price and passed the savings on to us. When the installers arrived the first thing they told me was that the slab floor was not ready for installation (something that was the responsibility of the general contractor). He called the office to get the OK to fix the problem, we approved the price (a fair price) and the installation began. Three days later we came back to find the most gorgeous dark, distressed wood floors we had ever seen. The installation was flawless; no gaps, lifting, bad cuts, etc. All the waste and installation materials were properly disposed of and the house was left cleaner than the beginning of the project. We were so happy with the work that we decided to trust them with our window coverings; wood blinds, shutters and rollup shades. Maggie was a delight to work with. She is courteous and very knowledgable. Fast forward to this week. We purchased another home and decided to replace the carpet and cheap-looking bamboo floor with hardwood plus the addition of ceramic tile in the kitchen. I contacted TriStar and THAT DAY had someone out to measure. Again, we were able to get a great price on the wood. Tile installation went fine, completed in one day. We were quoted 3-4 days to install the wood. To my surprise, it was completed in two. Again, quick, clean and dependable installers. I didn't mention that the removal of the previous wood floor took 3 days due to the inferior quality of the wood coupled with a very strong glue. It basically splintered with every attempt to remove it. The workers never batted an eye and finished the removal as quickly as they could. I'm certain that once the shock of paying for a new kitchen wears off I will call on TriStar to replace the window coverings. I highly recommend this company if you are contemplating a floor or window covering installation. read more

I am a discerning customer with high standards and specific needs, but work on a budget to contain costs. Bernard has helped suggest and find carpets for large offices in our spaces that will last for years. Tri Star has installed gorgeous shutters in my personal home and fixed them several times from my dog who slams on one of them when other dogs walk past the window. He also referred me to a drape designer for massive silk drapes that I had been wanting to get fabricated. We got that done and it's been 8 years of timeless beauty. Bernard has also met my glamorous need for themed carpet runners to the grandest of parties. Basically, he's done it all for me! I recommend to those looking for a giant project to be completed that the best way to keep the ball rolling is to make an appointment and go in the showroom personally. As much as we'd all prefer to work by phone, they are better at "in person" visits to focus and lay out the initial plan. Once you've nailed down all your choices, then you can go back to good old fashioned phone calls with them. I could write a novel about it but to make a long ugly story short our experience started with massive miscommunications about my floor installation, an installation that was so poor it looked like a 4-year old did it (gaps between seams, pieces coming up after 2 days etc) followed by an installer with an attitude who arrived late, did not properly correct the issues then blew attitude at me when I called him out on it to the grand finale - finally got the floor in, few weeks later the base boards started to come away from the wall and despite numerous calls to the company simply asking them to send us some glue so we could repair it nothing but silence from Tri Star. Did I mention they stopped returning calls after we paid the balance on the work? Save your money. Run. These people are the worst contractors I have ever dealt with. read more

I can't say enough great things about this company and specifically about Saul, who is a flooring expert at Tri Star Floor Window Coverings. My husband and I just bought our first home and wanted to redo flooring in the entire house, but were nervous about cost and and felt lost when it came to all the different flooring options, plus I have a tendency to be indecisive. Saul was patient in understanding our wants and needs and gave us a crash course on flooring. On the first call he took an hour to educate us on different types of material and grades of flooring. We felt knowledgeable and confident after our first conversation with Saul. Next step was to visit the warehouse in Northridge, we picked a product we loved and were 99% sold, but decided we should do our do diligence and visit a few other places before we made our final decision.
