My husband and I hired Blue Ribbon to redo our floors before we moved into our very first home and couldn't be happier with the results! Teri and her crew were friendly and great communicators throughout the process. She also used her knowledge to give us helpful tips on our floor and trim decisions. Raul and another worker (I am so sorry can't remember his name) did the installation and did an absolutely impeccable job. He make sure everything was done right instead of rushing the job. It did tag on some extra days, but it all worked out and for the amount of money new floors cost, this is the way it should be. The only thing we wish was a little different in the experience, but no means would cause them to lose a star in my rating, is explaining the process and lingo a little better since we were first time home buyers. We didn't know that when you hire someone to redo the floors that they wont finish everything that is related to the floors. So we had to hire someone else to paint the floorboards, fill the nail holes, and cauck the gap between floorboards and floor. They also were going to leave the base of the railing exposed and unfinished, but Raul awesomely found a solution and it looks great. So again, this may be on us since we have never done this before, but just a friendly tip to Blue Ribbon for future clients who are getting floors for the first time - assume they know nothing! :) Thanks again, we are so happy with our beautiful floors! We underwent a huge foundation repair that required us to get a new carpet and carpet pad, which was unexpected because we thought we'd be able to keep the one we had, which was 2 years old. We needed it FAST because we were moving back in and were frankly exhausted by all the construction on our house up until that point. We needed to replace wood floors in four rooms and we finally made a decision to do all the rooms at once, using one material .  First we looked at materials at Lumber Liquidators and The Home Depot, but were not 100% comfortable with the expertise there nor the selection of flooring. Second step:  We called Steve over from Blue Ribbon.  He came the next day and measured the four rooms, which totaled about 1,000 square feet.  We discussed laminate materials which would meet our needs better than the original prefinished plywood.   Steve recommended WPC, waterproof core laminate, but declined to quote any prices per square foot.  Antyway, we went to his shop and looked at a lot of samples, then took home three samples to study up close. After a phone call to Steve, we received an "overall" estimate within a week-- but he still refused to quote prices per square foot. Third step:  We worked with three other contractors, all locally recommended, who did offer various materials and prices.  One craftsman and his assistant  even took the time to drive us to three material suppliers to see our options.  Once we had all four estimates in hand, we noticed Blue Ribbon was the highest priced, but also had the most professional writeup on the contract. (One of the other contractors did not even have a license.)  We contacted Steve at Blue Ribbon, who agreed to meet the price of our Estimate No. 2, and we signed the work authorization.  We decided to delay the work about 30 days due to Coronavirus uncertainty. When the floor crew showed up the first day, right on time, Steve was here too, to introduce them. The lead carpenter was Adan, a real expert craftsman in his specialty.  His assistant was equally practiced, and they both dug in and knew just what to do.  No standing around scratching heads, no wasted time-- just good detail work.   This job entailed demolishing the old wood floors from 1981, some tile, and lots of old glue. Then the concrete slab had to be smoothed on top; the new laminate applied; and finally the trims around the edges.  Lots of work! Once they had a momentum going, it was hard to get them to knock off for the evening.  They love their work.  After three 10-hour days, they were almost done.  On the fourth day, they brought a third man to make sure to finish within the day.  The floors were all done, furniture was back in place, and the trash and dust were all in their truck-- by 2 p.m.   SO: Excellent workmanship.  Blue Ribbon would get five stars except for their twice refusing to disclose prices for the various materials they offer. read more

UPDATE: Individual by the name of Mark, just contacted me from the business insulting/harassing me regarding my review. Not sure if this is even allowed from Yelp, but I'll be contacting them as well. Went on a rant about how I must have no time on my hands to be writing a review like this and a few other things that were similar. So apparently it's okay for business to harass people who leave honest reviews. I was inclined to make this right which is why thought they called me again, but the guy just called me blurting out whatever he could, and then processed to hang up the on me. Just further proves my point. *ORIGINAL*: This review is for Elizabeth Radillo (receptionist/officer administrator). I called 1 month ago inquiring about stains in my apartment(Was referred to them since they are apparently my apartment managements go to carpet people when handling that type of work). The conversation was fine, I gave her all the info she asked for. 3-4 weeks go by, and I hear nothing from her. So I call to follow up, sure enough I am transferred to her as she is the office receptionist/administrator. She tells me she hasn't been able to get back to me because the owner(who is apparently the only person who can disclose prices) has been out of their office I guess for that whole time. I was fine with that until I asked her for the individuals name being that this is a professional business. This lady completely ignores(intentionally) what I say, asking who I am again, which I respond to. I continue to ask her the name of the individual for my documentation purposes. She once again ignores my question then asks who it is that referred me to them. I once again answer her question. She quickly announces that she will have them contact me as soon as their back and try's to end the conversation. At this point she's being completely rude and unprofessional. I go on to ask why she's not giving me this information as this is a professional business and I was documenting this for myself. I continue to apply pressure because this is clearly the most unprofessional individual I've come across for a business in some time. This all happened yesterday. The next day(today) she calls me to follow up because apparently the only guy who can give quotes for recarpeting is back the day after we had this incredibly awkward conversation. She continued to be extremely rude and talking over me the whole time. Even in my worst day's in the US Navy, people had more professionalism, and integrity when dealing with other individuals. Cant say the same about this person. I can definitely say that my parents and their new home in Glendale will absolutely not be calling them for their entire home carpet overhaul needs. It's sad I even have to write this review. Seemed like an honest business at first, maybe have somebody who knows how to talk to your clientele respectfully and professionally should be a good start for them. Cant say much about their carpeting job at this point because their phones gatekeeper is absolutely horrid at dealing with people. I'm embarrassed for the company. My husband and I walked into their showroom, and we were approached by Richard -- a salesperson working here at that particular time. I'm hoping he's still working at Blue Ribbon, because he was extremely helpful in explaining the various brands, tufts, fibers, and carpet paddings. We wanted a carpet installation place that was local, so my husband did his research and found Blue Ribbon to be reasonable in terms of pricing and guarantee. We were pleasantly surprised that our townhouse's carpet was installed seamlessly and effortlessly. We only have carpet in our second floor and stairway, and Blue Ribbon's carpet installers did a great job for us. We'd go back to them again, if we decide, down the road, to replace the carpet with a different color/style. read more

Richard walked us through our options and never tried to upsell in either location. He was very patient as I changed my mind a few times prior to making the final decision. I'm an essential worker and in the pandemic this means working from home w no free time til Christmas. Therefore I decided to turn a storage room into an office. Flash forward, Steve was great and made this stressful process pretty much seamless. I had many companies come and estimate and he had the best vibe. Wore a mask, stood far from me, which made me feel safe since I was anxious having a stranger in my home. He stayed abt half an hour, took measurements, explained the process to me and my options without making me feel like an idiot. He gave me tips on managing the cat pee smell that had soaked in instead of shaming me for it like others did. Sorry cats have lived here for 12 years! Anyways the showroom is very clean and nice and low pressure. He let me take four samples home to try out. Once I decided I called him and he put the order in, and a week later I have a glorious new floor! Though I probably could have saved a little more researching for carpet remnants, I really didn't want to bother with wasting precious time running around town with limited move-in time. But what impressed me was the service: getting top notch installation on a carpet within 48 hours and saved about $700 on the carpet to boot with the good padding I specifically requested (they had it on hand), and I got the financing I needed to make it all happen, especially all my last minute dithering on what carpet to get. My son despaired after receiving a ridiculously expensive quote for a discontinued house brand carpet at another LA carpet establishment. As I was visiting him, I suggested we stop by Blue Ribbon due to their positive Yelp reviews and a very pleasant exploratory phone call I made. Best decision ever! Our salesman Phillip was knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely patient. He came out to take measurements. We then met him at the showroom to go through the many options. Their showroom is well stocked with name brand high quality selections. Phillip guided us through the choices honestly pointing out the pros and cons of each. He did not engage in high pressure sales tactics at all. Matter of fact, he encouraged us to take our time and make the right decision. My house flooded and I needed to replace my carpet and bathroom flooring. I went to a recommended flooring store and the price of carpet that I liked there was $14.oo a square foot not including padding or installation. I then went to Blue Ribbon Carpet Sales in Burbank. They have a wide variety of colors and textures to choose from and I found a great quality, beautiful carpet for 1/3 of the cost of the other store. I purchased carpet that has a water proof backing which needs special care during installation and the installers were great! They were careful, and took the time they needed to do a fantastic job. Blue Ribbon carries many attractive options for the bathroom flooring as well. They were willing to install the bathroom flooring separately, so my contractors could install the bathroom vanities before the carpet was installed. Teri was amazing. She was more than helpful when I had difficulties with my construction company. read more

Blue Ribbon re-carpeted my master bedroom for me and overall it was a very pleasant experience. I met with Phillip in their showroom and he helped me decide which type of carpet would be good for me based on the amount of traffic the room gets and within the price frame I gave him. He even let me take multiple samples home to "live with" for about a week to see how they the different shades looked in different amounts of light throughout the day (good suggestion on his part). Once I was ready to make a decision my carpet arrived in about a week and they set up an installation appointment promptly. They sent out a team of 3 installers who were very nice, quick and efficient. The job looked great when they were done and they even removed and put back all of my large furniture for me. I like to support local business whenever I can since I grew up in Burbank and this is one I'll be happy to support in the future! Blue Ribbon completely redid all of the flooring for our upgraded house! It looks and feels great, the carpet is high quality and the installation is pretty much flawless. They have a huge selection of flooring types to match your style and budget, you can go in the store and stomp around on carpet samples if that's what you like, and they take the time to go through all sorts of designs with you. The guys who work here are great, friendly and personable and remember your name, totally unlike a big box store. Just a few things are keeping me from giving five stars-- - The contractors almost installed the wrong padding underneath the carpet. Luckily, my husband caught the mix-up at the last second and they quickly remedied it. - It looks like the style and color of flooring was also miscommunicated in the estimate they drew up. We caught that one early and they remedied it as well, however, it looks like that old style of flooring ended up being the pattern of the door thresholds and everywhere the vinyl meets the carpet. It's minor, but you can tell that it's a totally different pattern, hue, and grain and looks a little odd. - Baseboards come installed only along the hardwood/vinyl edges, and they are only primed, not painted. We had baseboards installed and painted for the rest of the house by another contractor. read more

Five years ago I bought my first home and wanted to change out the carpet for hardwood floors. I did A LOT of research, Home Depot, Lowes, Lumber Liquidators, etc. Happened to drive by Blue Ribbon and stopped in. It was the best stop I made. Edd the salesman was informed on all the products. And like the library let me check out a couple of large samples so I could see how they were in the real light of my living room. I decided on a Kempas wood floor. The deal Edd gave me saved me lots of $$. The team they sent was professional, and neat. Two days later I had beautiful floors. Five years later they still look great, despite dogs, friends and one kitchen sink mishap. An under sink valve gave way, water came a foot into the living room. This is unfortunate, because I did like these guys at first. I had tile installed at the entrance of my condo unit. After about a year, the grout began to crumble. They sent someone out to do the repair (which was great, don't get me wrong) but the repair work did not last. It is now three years after installation and the grout is heavily cracked and crumbling and the tiles themselves have began to crack and move. Another contractor from another job took a look and noted that the this is probably occurring because the tiles are moving. Most likely the sub floor is damaged. I distinctly remembered that the sub floor, which is some kind of cement, was in fact in poor shape. However, I failed to make note of that in the original work order. These installers must have missed it when they were installing the tile. Three years later, I'm past their warranty period. I wouldn't tell you to avoid these guys. Don't, because they do seem like a good bunch. Their prices were reasonable and the work was done on time and schedule. However, anyone looking to do some work should do their own research about what should and should not be done in your own floor installation and absolutely follow up on any concerns within a short amount of time. read more

Edd stopped by my work in Pasadena and was able to show me carpet and padding samples. 2) Best price: I had done my research and shopped around other local carpet dealers for the specific Mohawk carpet that I wanted. Edd was able to beat Midtown Carpet and the wholesaler price (Hernandez Carpet Brokers) estimate I got for Mohawk carpet, Mohawk smart cushion padding, installation, taxes, and disposal included. 3) Carpet installation: In all my research, installation was they key to satisfaction. Manny and his installation crew were great and stayed late to get the job done. Their installers are license/bonded and Edd helped me get all the paperwork needed to install at my condo which has some pretty strict HOA rules. We wasted about a month trying to work with Lowes flooring, which is a disaster and completely un-professional. I called BRC to ask about Pergo, which is what we had picked out and Steve said to come in and he would help us find what we need. It was obvious that buying the material and having them install it was the best choice, and they had better quality-durable product than Lowes. (Lower Pergo while sold as waterproof was not at all) So We picked out what we liked, and Steve came out to measure and estimate it. While the cost was slightly more than what Lowes was estimating*, they never came through on their claims, nor had the subcontractors to do the work so a mute point. BRC was very organized, I ordered and prepped the subfloor and they came and installed 1 room. We moved furniture over and I prepped the 2nd room and they came and finished. Super pro, and quick. I won't go anywhere else for the next job. Steve was great, super responsive and organized! read more

No I did not hire your company so let me rephrase that, if I ever have to hire someone for blinds or my landlord needs to send someone one I would not use your company. And you are correct you did not take 2 months you took a month and 1 week to be exact, with that being said when your tech showed up the first time he showed up with no appointment. And when I called your office to ask why they sent the tech without an appointment they could not give me a straight answer... I gave your company 3 different time slots Monday thru Friday for them to send the tech... Your company taking a month to install a small blind was not due to my work schedule. When I set up my appointment and the tech showed up, I was told by your tech that he was missing the brackets and I would have to set up another appointment for him to come back. It took a week for your company to call me and set up another appointment. On my final appointment, the tech showed up 30 minutes late, I had to call your company to ask where the tech was at. since no one updated me that the tech was running late... I've used Blue Ribbon twice once for carpet and once for tile and both times were impressed. We only had the carpet installed by them (installed the tile ourselves) and the guys did an awesome job.
