Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Alicia N.

Came here on a weeknight to hang out with friends. The restaurant was busy even for a weeknight. Service was friendly. The food was good. I had the chicken lettuce wraps because I wasn't that hungry. My only point of contention is that the tablet thing that they have on every table makes it way too easy to accidentally get charged for a game. I had to have the server take the game off of our check because I accidentally clicked on the game before realizing that it wasn't free. I did not proceed to play the game, and it still ended up on our check. So, if you have kids, and you don't want to get charged, don't let them have access to those tablet things on the tables.

I came after work on a Friday night in hopes of a Happy Hour, and boy, did they deliver. Parking is not too shabby, especially on a weekend night. Downtown Claremont is pretty difficult to find parking at, especially on the weekends. Be especially mindful of the two hours signs, in case you get a parking ticket. We had two servers at Finney's and both gals were phenomenal. They were both consistently checking in on us. The happy hour here starts from 3 and ends at 6 PM. I drank some IPAs which were $6 each per happy hour. I also ordered a spicy tuna crispy rice which was fantastic! The rice itself was very chewy and crispy at the same time. Not bad for being $9 a plate, and it had about 5 pieces. Although I haven't tried their other food, I believe this place isn't too bad. I'd love to come back to try their nachos or burgers!

Blonde

Came in for a happy hour after work on a Friday. We got a table quickly which was nice. Had a blonde for $6 and a chicken and waffles from the HH menu. Everyone's food in our group was pretty tasty. For ambiance the Tables are pretty close to each other that you could hear conversations near each other but that didn't bother us much. They had multiple TVs playing sports but we were there more for food and drink. Overall we enjoyed our HH and would definitely come back.

Mediterranean Bowl with chicken
Desiree V.

Came here to watch the Dodgers/Angels game and started with a beer at the bar before sitting down for dinner. The Mediterranean bowl with chicken was SO good, and the fried pickles were also really tasty. For the most part, the staff was attentive and friendly. We specifically came to watch the game though, and were disappointed that only 3 TVs out of probably 12 were showing it. I asked if one of the TVs facing our table could be changed, and the response that was meant to be funny came across more rude than playful. Overall, the food was great and most of the service was solid, but the experience could've been better.

The terrific Finney's burger (cut in half to show the perfectly done burger -- a true med/med-rare)
David S.

This was my first trip to Finney's but it won't be the last. The Finney's burger completely blew away In-and-Out's so that's that. Byebye In-and-Out. Really liked the Brussels Sprouts. The Philly Cheesesteak appetizers were terrific, too. Fine service and excellent beer offerings complete the picture. Issues? Well, it's way too noisy and I don't like shouting across the table. There's bizarre deep banquets on one side that a server can't really access. And to top things off, the ketchup has HFCS which is a complete show-stopper in my book (ok...this is a minor issue, in reality). An annoying on-table payment system limits your split to three people. Otherwise, fun and great food if you can hear what's going on.

Salad
Sarah S.

Asked for no cheese on the salad and so they took it back and when it came back it look like they had just dug it off the top. Usually the other Finney's I go to is decent quality but had some laziness today. Food was decent otherwise. Didn't feel particularly fresh or special.

Mahi mahi tacos

My husband and I came here for lunch today for the first time and the food and staff were good. We shared the buffalo cauliflower fried appetizer, which we really liked, then I had the mahi mahi tacos and he had the chicken wings and a side salad. Everything was good. The server was fast and attentive. The hostess was super nice too. A good place to go if you are watching sporting events-they had the FIFA World Cup game on numerous tvs around the restaurant.

Tuna crispy rice

Our experience was pretty good at Finney's! This is a newer location of the chain in a popular area of Claremont. There is lots of parking plus other shops, bars, restaurants, dessert, etc. to try nearby. To eat we had... crispy tuna rice - which was shockingly delicious for not being at a sushi place turkey burger - this burger had a Mediterranean vibe with tzatziki and roasted peppers, it did have a bit of kick to it! Southwest chicken protein bowl - a good variety of toppings, good heat To drink the Claremont IPA and raspberry smash cocktail were good! I would skip on the Brewery X seltzer (if the seasonal is still the baja blast flavor) Our service was pretty good, we were sat veryyy close next to another table, but we made do!

Wings extra crispy

Disclosure make sure you make reservations if you are coming on a Friday or Saturday evening the restaurant gets packed fast. Now let's talk about the food. Everything was delicious. Everything came out on time. From the photos you can see tried a little bit of everything. I highly recommend the appetizers. They have a very robust selection, which looks all very good. The service was top-notch. I highly recommend this place will definitely come back.

The bar!

Tried Finney's for the first time tonight (a Monday) after trying probably 6 times prior to come (each time before they were packed full to the gills or had a 45 min - 1 hr wait). The atmosphere is awesome beer pub sports bar with probably the most taps I've seen anywhere outside of maybe Yard House in Rancho or Brea. Very kid friendly - changing tables in both bathrooms. The food was fantastic - I ordered the Yuzu Buffalo wings and my wife got a burger. My only negative on this place is that the service tended to trail off towards the end of our meal and the waiter brought me the incorrect drink twice. Could just be ironing out the service kinks as they're a new restaurant in Claremont. Welcome to the village - we'll absolutely be back! Seriously! I was shocked how many awesome local taps they had from Old Stump, Left Coast, and Brewery X

Chicken and waffle bite appetizer, so delicious
Erica A.

I've been to multiple finney's locations from Brea & Orange to the one down in Oceanside and had no idea there was one in Claremont! We did have to wait due to us needing highchair & only a particular dining area accommodated highchairs, which was fine the wait wasn't long and we walked around the area. Once we sat down the service and server were great. And the food and drinks arrived quickly. First time trying the chicken and waffle appetizer and it was sooo good. Look forward to returning to this location

We're on a mission to try every restaurant on the Claremont list, and Finney's Crafthouse earned a top spot on our little foodie quest. Friday night vibes, it was a full-on happening spot! The wait was about an hour for a group of six, which felt surprisingly painless since we parked ourselves at the bar and kept the conversation flowing like the drinks. Many TVs throughout the place and a big drink selection. The hour gave me time to watch all the passing plates which smelled so good. It was a real sensory flirtation anytime someone's plate rolled by I got FOMO in the most delicious way. The hour flew by as we finally sank into a comfy large booth. We kicked things off with two taquito appetizers. They arrived in a rainbow of colors and flavors and they came out fast, super snackable! The meat was a touch soggy for my taste, but I'd order them again in a heartbeat for the flavor. I went with the chicken and waffles, which arrived looking very dark. The syrup wasn't your classic sweet. It tasted bold definitely a syrup adventure I could not quite figure out the ingredients. Everyone else's plates looked incredible the pizza, the burger, the mahi tacos all plated looking delicious. I'm pretty sure round two is on the schedule so I can sample more of what Finney's has to offer. Finney's is for sure a buzzy spot that's clearly trying something a little different with its syrup!! Haha Jokes aside If you're in the mood for sports, a lively night, good vibes, kid friendly, clean restrooms and a great drink menu this is your spot!

Cutsie menu

Firstly, the vibes? Immaculate. The inside is so cozy with huge ceiling fans and giant windows that open horizontally to the outside. Making it feel like a patio, it was a lovely day and those open windows were just comfy maxxing. The deviled egg appetizer was AMAZING. The candied bacon garnish was everything. I wasn't even bothered by the splash of hot sauce, it was just subtle enough not to overpower the delicate flavor of the eggs. I got the Turkey Burger with Tzatziki which was delightful but kinda small. I also got a side salad. Shout out to the server who as soon as she set it down, quickly realized she gave me the wrong dressing and promptly replaced it. The salad was simple. Just spring greens and cherry tomatoes. It was bright and fresh and tasty with the perfect amount of dressing, but I would have appreciated a third element. Perhaps some Thin cucumber slices, some grated carrot, or some croutons (though I have a complicated relationship with croutons.) My husband is a simple man, when he sees a Blue cheese burger, he orders it! This day it was to his detriment that he did not read the full description on the menu. The Bacon Blue cheese burger came with a really spicy sauce/slaw situation. Not what he was expecting and way too spicy for him. He could barely eat half of it. It didn't feel right to complain, but it speaks to a different issue I have with these bougie downtown eateries; Everything is Spicy On almost every dish there is some creative spice element, wasabi aoli, firecracker sauce, candied or pickled jalapeño. This trend irritates me. And that's me being in my 40s eating in a college town, I'm the old out of touch one, I get it. But it's my review, so here we are. Another critique is we are at IPA critical mass, and this goes more for the local breweries. I hate IPAs. HATE THEM and it seems 60-70% of what restaurants today carry is IPAs. And IF they even have a Hefeweizen (my favorite) it's an orange IPA or has raspberry flavors. I don't want fruit in my beer. Why is this happening. Anyway, rant over. The service was outstanding, and I'll definitely return so they can earn that extra star. But we will be reading fully the item descriptions. As should you.

They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came. Overall, the service was super friendly, the ambience was nice for an outdoor lunch thought. I thought the menu looked delicious and there were several things I would like to come back and try and I would go back again.

We decided to try brunch on a Saturday morning. Long story short,…read more I ordered the steak and eggs breakfast. At $38ish, I expected a great meal. It was so underwhelming. 2 eggs cooked differently, one over hard, one over easy, 5-6 potato pieces and the steak was thin, overcooked, and appeared to be a cheap cut of meat. A New York cut would have been great. Wife mentioned norms has better steak and eggs. Called and spoke with a manager Stephanie, not looking for anything, but to express disappointment in the meal for the high price. She offered to mail a gift card for us and invited us back. Took all of my information and never received it. Thanks anyway. Don't think we'll be back.

They also are reservation priority! Service was great! Our server Jared was very attentive to our party. Constantly checking on us, making sure we had everything we needed. Food was average bar food, but let's be real, they're not known for their food. We had the cheddar bacon curly fries and they're the type of food you want once you start drinking alcohol. So really, this place is doing its job. The food wasn't top tier but it definitely caters to crowds need. If you love a loud environment, good music, and dancing this is the place for you. But some shady charges or maybe we'll call it miscommunication just rubbed me the wrong way. I always order the mole chicken enchiladas and my wife (being vegetarian) asks for the same dish but if the enchiladas can be vegetable or cheese. Apparently this means a 8$ up charge? We've done this many times in the past and always been charged the same price for both. I asked the server at the end "the veggie version is 8$ more expensive than chicken?" And he just shrugged and said yes. Just found it interesting that a meat dish would be 8$ less than a purely cheese/veggie dish. Especially since done this in the past with no issue. I also asked for "hot sauce" for my dish. They brought out a spicier house salsa as the hot sauce...totally understandable and the salsa here is usually free. Apparently it's a 4$ "chipotle sauce" that the waiter did not inform me would be charged. I would've easily just said I want tapatio or no "hot sauce". I used maybe a teaspoon for 4$. I told the waiter this when we questioned the bill and he just shrugged. These may seem like small inconveniences but when they seem like they intentionally don't tell you the details and then when called out about it just kinda shrug it off, it was a disappointing end to an otherwise tasty dinner. We love it here and will certainly be back but it just sucks that I have to be extra cautious & skeptical when ordering from now on.
