I came for a retreat and stayed one night, two days. Okay, first off, I just have to say... The food was amazing! Props to the chef, there was food for normal diets and special made dishes for vegans and other restrictive food diets! Everything was delish! I couldn't wait for meals! One of my favorite dishes had to be this pumpkin seed pesto! I'm just drooling at the thought of it. Meals were buffet style in a shared space, so other people who are staying will be sharing meals with you in the same space. The grounds itself are lovely. It's in a nice wooded space with little cabins everywhere, a pool and hot tub area, and many difference conference "cabins". Lots of outdoor work areas where you can hang out and do work. You can even schedule a massage in this cute little round cabin. There are some hiking trails around (although we didn't end up having any time for them). The property is on an incline, so if you have trouble with stairs or upward walking, it'll be something to consider. There are longer ramped inclines if stairs are a problem for you. The cabins themselves are nothing fancy. Quaint and cozy, we had a fireplace in ours which was so luxurious to have! There were three beds in our little cabin and a tiny little kitchen area as well. The bathroom was rather basic, felt like a childhood sleep away camp bathroom. There is a lot of parking throughout, and areas for you to drive up to the top (for people who have cabins at the top so you don't have to lug your luggage all the way up the stairs). It was extremely lively when we went on a Tuesday evening. There were families outside with tons of food that looked really good. They also have live music events every so often here. I tried one of the rotating hazy IPAs. Super solid IPA and was nice in the warm Sonoma sun. Prices are as you would expect at a place like this and are very reasonable all things considered. You are welcomed with a small bottle of their local wine (Banshee Pinot Noir) and a personal note to kick off your stay. We appreciate the little details that make our stay enjoyable and special. If you score a ground floor room, the bathroom has heated floors. The water pressure, to note, is excellent. We also really enjoy the wood-burning fireplace for the ambiance and for the cold winter nights. A m e n i t i e s: There is a spa, gym, heated pool, restaurant (Layla), EV-charging, etc. Grounds are well kept. You can find a fire pit and water filling stations throughout the property. FYI - for the dog owners, there is no dog relief area on property. We went around the holidays and had a wonderful time with the festive events and activities offered. We thoroughly enjoyed the s'mores + hot toddy night and the hand-painted ornament workshop. We may need to return again during the holidays. And if you manage to get out to explore, downtown Sonoma is just about a 15-min walk away.

I measured the length of the pool in Google satellite view and it's about 20 yards so you can get some decent laps in. There are seating areas in and near the lobby; my team had a spot to play board games in the hallway one night. We had a meeting room right off the bar for a small 3-day conference. We had some natural light coming through frosted windows but no direct. There was another room in a separate building with natural light that looked really great, but ours was fine too. All the drinks and food we got were great, as well as the coffee shop!

It has the distinct feel of a neighborhood bar, staffed by people who know the locals and make excellent drinks. The bartenders are people who obviously know what they're doing: just one look behind the bar, and you can see that they have a rhythm and ease that speaks to a lot of experience. I had the Manhattan with Black Walnut bitters--the cognac-soaked cherry, imported from France, complemented my cocktail. The atmosphere is comfortable and easy, and people are friendly and having a great time. I liked the place so much that I bought two t-shirts. I appreciated the personal attention, but it became a bit uncomfortable as the staff member sat with us between pourings. I would have liked the option to take our time drinking the wines, but I felt uncomfortable and slightly rushed as this person sat with us and did not always speak te whole time. We did arrive 30 minutes late due to the Tock app (reservation app) guiding us to the wrong location. We called Hamel to notify them and the person said they would wait for us, but I detected a bit of a tone. I also emailed Tock, which they responded quickly but basically said that they investigated it and it was basically an issue on Apple's side of things. No acknowledge of the inconvenience this had on me and my husband. We did receive a very tasty appetizer made by their world-renowned chef, but the wine fell short in my opinion. It seemed a bit watered down with little flavor overall. The wine is very expensive along with the wine tasting. Ultimately, I think you're paying for the view, experience and the cost of those new buildings.

They do wine tastings a few afternoons between 430 and 530 but the pours were minuscule. The room itself was spacious (I think we got upgraded since it was midweek). There was an outdoor sitting area including a big bath tub. There's a nice spa on grounds. You can't easily walk to square but they have a free shuttle in a nice VW van. Coming back we waited less than 10 mins. If you're coming to Sonoma, you should defn consider staying here.

On top of that, I had a very noisy neighbor with a baby crying throughout the night, which made for a less-than-ideal stay. I was understandably disappointed and shared my concerns with Lynn at the front desk. Lynn was incredibly kind, listened with genuine empathy, and made sure to communicate everything to her manager, Kendall. When I spoke with Kendall the following day, she was already aware of the situation, showed sincere concern, and took immediate action to make things right. That level of attentiveness and care truly stood out. Sometimes things don't go as planned, and issues arise; that's inevitable in hospitality. What matters most is how those situations are handled. Lynn and Kendall exemplify what great customer service should look like: professionalism, compassion and accountability. I will certainly be back on my next visit to enjoy this beautiful property and the outstanding service they provide. Keep shining and continuing to deliver a world-class guest experience.
