They definitely don't hold back on the alcohol! We usually stop at Fins for happy hour after coming off the beach, and we sit upstairs at the sofas/chairs. My family tends to order a huge amount of appetizers (because they are all fantastic), and while I'm sure this can be quite annoying to the staff, they are always super nice and helpful about the large order! Had high expectations for this restaurant since it defines itself as a "high end" restaurant. We arrived on a Tuesday around 6:00 and was informed we had a 1 hour 45 minute wait. No problem for us, and it is understandable for a high-end restaurant with beautiful sunset views. Staff/hostess actually got us in around 7:15, but it was for outside, and it was chilly. However, their heaters are super warm, so that was not an issue. Our service started off great, but quickly fell off. The bread that was served was warm and soft, and the 4 spreads provided were all delicious. I had the seafood chowder as an appetizer, and it was excellent. We then ordered our entrees, and this is where the dinner went awry. First, after a significant wait for our food, our wives' food (a steak and bourbon tenderloin tips) arrived 10 - 15 minutes before our Seafood Tower for 2. Hence, our wives were nearly done eating prior to us getting our food. Our server was nowhere to be found, and we eventually tracked down a busser to help us find him. The steak dinner arrived with cold potatoes. Additionally, the seafood tower for 2 was really only enough food for 1. Furthermore, we had to track down our server again to provide us with an oyster/cocktail fork, drawn butter, and hand wipes. The taste of the seafood tower was basic at best, with only the poke tuna standing out as "high end". My wife did enjoy the tenderloin tips and said they were very favorable. We then finished up with dessert, and it was just ok. We had the Key Limoncello Tiramisu, which came in a narrow glass that didn't allow us to get the opportunity to fully enjoy the various flavors together. In closing, for a restaurant that defines itself as "high end", it was high priced, mediocre service with average food. Not sure I would go back. read more

Had my parent's 60th wedding anniversary surprise party at Fin's and it was wonderful. The event coordinator, Emily, is wonderful. She met all of our needs. The wait staff, Dave and Jen where excellent. The appetizers, food and beverages came out at the right time and they kept the drinks nice and full. They where both very personable and alot of fun. Everything I order for myself was better than i expected. From my cocktail that led to the bread service with all the different spreads. It was followed with the most tender and deliciously roasted octopus. I ordered the pesto pasta for dinner and took home the pina colada dessert to go. I was very pleased with my food. We left early and canceled our orders due to tbe self-righteously callous, childish behavior of the (unbelievable, as it seems) manager, in ordering us (rather than courteously asking us) to make a specific adjustment regarding our pet, sitting quietly motionless and sleeping. The manner was too much to abide, and more so for the price tag. This smartly, utterly classless person needs to be working in a different industry, or to see a shrink, or both. To say this was one of the best birthday meals in my life would be an understatement! Wow! Everything was incredibly delicious and beautifully plated! My husband said the salmon was the best he's ever had and he's 65 and from Seattle ha ha! The service was over the top, top notch and attentive! The view was breathtaking! We love it here! I normally get their salmon. My husband got their stone crabs today. I am addicted to their rose grapefruit martinis. Our waiter today was Nicholas and he was great. I always ask for my salmon well done but today it wasn't done enough. Jackie, the manager, came by and asked if everything was okay. I told her it didn't seem quite well done but I was willing to eat it. She agreed with me and they made another one for me which was perfect. She also asked if I wanted anything while I waited, so I got loaded potato soup which ended up being awesome and steaming hot. Yum. Bottom line, as usual, Fins is wonderful and the view is always priceless, of course. We sat by the window today for lunch. read more

WOW! As I sit at the bar enjoying my third meal here during my week in Venice, I find myself wishing that I could somehow transport this outstanding restaurant back to New York with me. It doesn't matter what you choose off of the menu ... it is all outstanding. The cocktails are creative, the sushi is better than the any restaurant in Manhattan, and the staff: professional, friendly and tireless. Sitting at the bar on Saturday Night, the line to dine here is deep. And yet, with all of these thirsty and hungry customers, the staff performs like a well choreographed ensemble, meeting the needs of all diners with smiles and genuine joy. You can tell that the bartenders, servers and chefs... really enjoy service and interacting with each other. I recommend any of their sushi dishes as well as their calamari appetizer. Apparently we pay for the wonderful Venice Beach and Pier view, because it isn't the overpriced inadequately prepared food. Okay the Maryland crab cakes were good but the lemon and mustard sauces paired with them destroyed the flavor. My partner said the salmon was adequate but my Corvina was mushy and bland like it had sat in a freezer too long. I've made better in my home air fryer! And the alleged red pepper risotto tasted more like Chef Boy R Dee. As you might expect, we decided not to risk any deserts. Service was adequate. read more

We recently enjoyed a great dinner at Fins. Sara did a great job, knew and explained the menu well and took care of all our needs. Thanks to the pandemic we've come to appreciate the small things in life. For example, a view of the Gulf of Mexico or the north side of the Venice Pier at sunset, the golden hour. There isn't a better place to capture this view then from the deck at Fin's. This view combined with a fresh cocktail is the perfect recipe for a good time. Fin's is an upscale coastal restaurant located above Sharkeys. Service and drinks are average but remember, you go there for the unparalleled view. We haven't dined-in there, we only go to Fins for the sunset cocktail hour. They offer a few happy hour food and beverage specials for your consideration. Fins has a large parking lot, but remember you have to get there early since this is a prime Gulf of Mexico view location on Venice Island. Salute! read more

This review will be short and to the point. Was here for lunch today. Ordered the hamburger with bleu cheese. The beef might be "Niman Ranch All Natural", but it was definitely frozen and out of a box of burgers. Asked for raw onion to accompany, was told they don't have onion. Really? Small, tasteless burger with a minimum of cheese, $17. Received the plate and discovered my medium requested burger was well done. Told the waiter and requested a refire, and I heard him make fun of me under his breath. New plate came, still well done. Ate about a third of it and left the rest. Honestly, this restaurant charges a lot of money for, at least for what I got, subpar food. They ought to be ashamed of themselves. read more

Lobster tail, subbed out garlic kale due to allergy. Also asked if risotto had any garlic. I ended up eating and he had my black rice. Sea bass was cooked perfectly. Bok Choy had nice grill flavor but too stringy and hard to cut. Didn't eat it. Filet was seared just the way my brother in law asked. Shirmp Pappardelle and salmon both plates were emptied. There was a nice breeze from the ocean, so we probably stayed there a bit longer than we had planned. We shared the Oysters Rockefeller, Island Style Calamari, Cheese & Charcuterie Plate, and Shrimp Cocktail. What can I say. Yet another wonderful evening at Fin's at Sharky's in Venice, Florida. As before, Lauren welcomed us - and even *remembered* us from past visits!! It is August - so we sat indoors, but went outside for the sunset, but were sidetracked making new friends! What a wonderful bunch of customers always seems to be dining at Fin's! This evening I was "eating light, so LOVED the seafood chowder with a caesar salad, and my husband had the salmon dinner. We find some wines give us a headache, so truly appreciate being able to bring our own bottle (yes, there's a corkage fee - but worth the lack of a headache). As Fin's prints their menu each day listing their ever-changing offerings, we found a new favorite dessert: Opera cake! Be sure to call for reservations - especially as Season approaches. read more
