The staff was up front right away about the sunset might not be the best, but the view and food would be great. The sun was bright and we got there early enough to enjoy the sun and beautiful view. We were seated outside right away. Started with some appetizers to include Mozzarella sticks, and the crab ragoon. Both hit the spot. Food was all great (Ribeye, Shrimp alfredo, Jumbo shrimp, Salmon special and ofcourse my cheeseburger with green beans. Everything was made to our taste and had some special orders (green beans no sauce, spice or salt). Adrianna was our server and kept drinks filled, had some great suggestions for meals, and let us linger and talk etc. It had a great vibe with seemed upscale but casual. I loved dining at this restaurant which has been a local mainstay for decades from what I understand. Our meal and the service was excellent. The restaurant itself is situated with a water view and has a nice, more upscale yet casual atmosphere. They specialize in meat and seafood here. Drinks were delicious, got the 10 year reserve bourbon and an Irish coffee with dessert. Coconut shrimp appetizer was solid and the dipping sauce wasn't too sweet. I had the osso buco special and it quite literally fell off the bone. Service was great - our waitress was very attentive even with the crowd. For dessert I opted for the pecan pie which wasn't too heavy, and the crust and filling were amazing. Ate it too fast to take a photo. Nice view of the sunset and water from the majority of the main room. Probably would've sat out on the balcony but it seems they allow smoking out there, a man was having a cigarette. We had a fantastic dinner at Waterfrontoo in Nokomis! The food was outstanding and the prices were very reasonable, especially since we were able to take advantage of their early bird menu. For our entrées we had the coconut shrimp and the steak, and both were excellent. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We sat outside right by the water, which made the whole experience even better. The setting was beautiful and relaxing. Our server, Alex, really made the evening special. We were undecided about where to go for a good steak - Went over the usual suspects and then remembered Waterfrontoo!!! We used to go to their location on Tamiami Trl north of here years ago and then they closed. We were met by the lovely Christine who is the owner and it was wonderful to see her again. We were served by Taylor who was on spot with our food order and came by to check on us periodically and did not forget she had our table. The Sunset Menu is awesome from 4-5:30pm daily except holidays. We both ordered the Sirloin steak that comes with a salad and side ((had the baked potato). They also serve you their world famous beer rolls with butter which if you don't watch yourself might become your main meal!! The steak was juicy and tender - the main point is this did not break the bank and the atmosphere is unexpected as we were able to sit next to a window with a view of the water!! After many years we decided to treat our staff to a local nice restaurant. We were all mostly disappointed after meeting the next day. No one wanted to say anything. Our steaks were overcooked. My prime rib although well seasoned was barely warm, definitely not medium and same for baked potato. The special of the night, the scallops, were overcooked and lacked any accompaniments. Went on St. Patrick's Day and place was packed. Started out with a scare as we had made a reservation the day before but they didn't have it written down. Nevertheless, they got us seated quickly. We got calamari as appetizer; it is very tasty, I thought it was it over battered and fried, but my table mates liked it. The entrees we got were: prime rib, grouper, coconut shrimp. Prime rib was large, juicy tender and flavorful. The grouper was grilled just right. Coconut shrimp are large, crispy and tasty. I think they might work better as the appetizer. I don't think they prepare them there - probably purchased. The portions are large and the menu states there is a $3 charge to split. It might be worth doing that if you can't eat a lot. As another review mentioned, the side salad is just basic. For $2 you can substitute with soup. I got the lentil soup and it was very good. Dessert was the cheesecake and it is excellent. The food came out fast so you have to take your hat off to the kitchen staff. Our waitress was friendly but talked fast so felt a little rushed. It may have been because the place was packed. We have been to Waterfront Too many times in the past. We usually order the Osso on Fridays. Tonight, we ordered two lobster tails which we have in the past on several occasions . I asked for the lobsters to be well done, and they both came out under cooked. We asked for them to be cooked a little more, when they came out, we left. It was not a great night, when you look forward to a great night. The bill was over $129.00 and I didn't talk to the owners as we were not feeling very good about coming here. The difference maker is Eric who cares ...whose family ran the original Waterfront for 35 years ... the nicest guy and hardest worker ...he personally is "on the floor" helping kitchen or advancing prepared meals to customers with a wait staff that is shaped to his high standards (courteous, personable, and check backs on those served). This was right on the water where outside seating was available. There appeared to be a dock where boats could stop in for a bite as well. The inside was much bigger than anticipated with lots of tables present. The service was friendly, and the food came out in a timely matter. The menu had traditional steakhouse and seafood items along with some Asian and Greek inspired dishes. For starters, the sesame encrusted tuna ($14.95) and spicy popcorn shrimp ($8.95) was ordered. The tuna was solid, a few pieces were fishy, but besides that, all good. The shrimp was mixed in with a boom boom sauce that was very tasty, nice balance of sweet and hot, but leaned more towards the hot side. I had the prime rib ($26.95) with a side of broccoli for an entrée. It also came with a house salad, no complaints there. I had the prime rib cooked medium and that was how it came out. The piece of meat was extremely tender and went well with both the horseradish sauce and au jus provided. The broccoli was very buttery and garlicky. They were little hard tough balls overcooked in chopped garlic from a jar. They did remove from the bill. A plus?? Since I did not trust ordering fish after my rubber ball experience, I ordered the "special chicken homemade pot pie." If you want Swansons pot pie this is the place with frozen pastry dough on top. Definite Sysco material. My husband had the pork rib roast with fries. It was just ok. Very plain, no veggies some canned gravy. I am not surprised this place has not been written up. The area we're we sat was musty. Reminded me of an old restaurant. Depressing atmosphere.. We ordered the ahi appetizer and it was very rare on one side and over cooked on the other. Hubby ordered the clam chowder as an appetizer and was disappointed. For dinner I ordered the ribs and they were accommodating but the ribs, although supposedly blackened with seasoning, were very gamy. Hubby ordered the salmon with bourbon sauce and he said it was gross. I ordered a skinny margarita and they put lemon juice, orange juice and tequila but no agave so it was also tasteless.
