The initial impression is come with an abundance of patience and not starving. On this Friday morning at 10:00am, we arrived and no one was on the floor or at the host station to seat us. We had one single diner in front of us, and the 2 of us. While we all patiently waited, another party of 2 arrived behind us and waited with us. No one appeared. Two servers appear from the back, look up at all of us, and continue doing their own thing without acknowledging any of us standing and waiting. Mind you, all the booths are full plus 2 tables. Seems like most had food and were eating. We finally all get seated by one of the servers and now waited another 5 minutes to get a server to stop by. We were ready to place our meal with our drinks, but our server never gave us a chance to order for she walked away as soon as we said coffees and waters. Another 5 minutes, she reappears with our drinks, and we got to order our food. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive and it was good. We did have to ask for more coffee. The regulars seem to all be local retirees and that is what is saving this restaurant. The servers are inconsistent and management is nonexistent. Seems like there is no effort or system to attend to front end. Why do we need to make a line to pay? We had to wait for someone to take our money. read more

Let me start by saying the homemade potato chips... you MUST try! My mother ordered the Philly Steak and the portion was huge and she enjoyed it very much. I also ordered a chicken bacon sandwich to go for my sister. Despite it being an hour before I could get it to her, she also enjoyed her sandwich. Unfortunately I did not enjoy neither my sandwich nor my soup. I had ordered the lemon chicken soup with rice and a grilled cheese sandwich as it was a cold rainy day and some comfort food sounded great. The sandwich had such an odd flavor (could have been the processed american cheese, could have been whatever they buttered the bread with but I took one bite and it wasn't for me) that i literally spit the bite into my napkin. The potato chips... FAB!!...the soup?? again , not so much for me. The rice was overcooked and mushy. I am a textural person and couldn't This is pretty much a "no big deal"... both are things I can cook at home to my liking. When the young lady came to the table and asked how everything was and I told her that I didn't care for either item, she seemed genuinely surprised. I was not blaming anyone for my not liking either dish and as I mentioned... the homemade potato chips were great. As the young lady was walking away and for about 3 minutes in the kitchen I could (as could everyone else) hear her audibly berate the fact that I didnt care for the items ordered... she didnt ask if she could bring me anything else but did offer to take those items off the bill. (except for the potato chips ..which she charged me for as a side instead of part of the sandwich I had ordered) Aaaanyway... when at the register I told the young woman she might want to develop an indoor voice as I could hear every word she said about me (at this moment it was advice as I worked service for 25 years..tips were my bread and butter and although I could hear, maybe she didnt know how loud she was)... she again went off and tried to argue with me about my opinion of the food ... oh.. and then she pointed out " You're trying to argue with a child"...oooookay... 1)... I'm not arguing... I didnt like my food and 2) I'm suggesting you use an indoor voice when talking shit about your customers She again went off like she was in the kitchen so it was at THAT moment decided not to tip her... the other waitress there told me "it doesn't matter, she's still getting paid"... It wasn't until I left that I realized she took my dislike of the food personally as it was probably her father cooking. Again... I am not disrespecting her father personally or his cooking in general or whomever is cooking, just the two food items I ordered and didn't like) Either way... my review is what it is because of "the child(ren)" in the front of the house. I wouldn't even had left review if it weren't for that specific interaction with the young lady. I would have tried again in the future, something else on the menu but if this is the way that family is treated at Fiona's I'm going "no contact". read more

The 5 star review is for fried chicken livers and gyro omlettes only. Both are simply outstanding and you are given more than you really need...but I ate every bit of both! The accompaniments are not noteworthy...mashed potatoes were a bit dry and the veggies were not tasty. My friends were happy with their eggs and hash browns. The ambiance is that of a typical family diner. The service was good and friendly although checkout was longer than one would wish for. The place was packed at noon...every table taken. If you go to Fiona's be prepared to wait. We went for lunch at about 1:00. There were inly a few tables with customers, but we waited 15 minutes before we got coffee and a soda after our first server forgot. We ordered a fish sandwich, and an omelet. It took another 30 minutes to get the food. The fish sandwich came out without the roll, and the omelet was lukewarm. The food was mediocre at best especially after the wait. Our server also didn't come back to refresh drinks. We had to beg for the bill when we were finished. We're never ever going back. read more

WOW!!!! Don't miss this place. Yes it does seem like many locals (as other reviews have said), but that's the kind of place I want to discover when away. Everyone was so pleasant, food was brought to table HOT and DELICIOUS! What more could you ask for?? If you think the pace is slow-go to MacDonalds. This place has been family owned since 2005 so they must be doing something right! We had breakfast and as I said it was delicious. The rye bread is to die for as are the hash browns and ham. This family restaurant is super good! My family goes regularly and they took me there for breakfast. I got the homestyle skillet which was really yummy lots of flavor and everything was hot and plenty of food. Their homemade biscuits were so good too!! I also asked for their sausage gravy in the side which was very thick and had lots of sausage. Definitely recommend. Fiona's is what I consider Bradenton's beet kept secret. Tucked away near the Olli's is a family-owned business (since 2005). We come here at least twice a month, with large portion sizes and reasonable prices. It's always our first choice before considering franchise restaurants such as FW, that are overpriced. read more

I recently visited Fiona's with a group of veterans. I have to say that not only was the breakfast good but the staff was a lot of fun. We actually stayed two hours eating and visiting with them and will be back on Monday mornings. I then took my wife for lunch and for a breakfast during the week and we were treated well. I have been to the restaurant three times since the new owners. My first visit I chalk up to an employee learning curve. My second visit the wait staff said sit anywhere you want AND FORGOT ABOUT ME. I watched two other couples get seated and waited on and they still did not acknowledge my presence. I left disappointed and upset because they had cabbage rolls as that day's special. I'm not one to give up so I tried the third time, this time I was told sit anywhere but I held on to the waitress until I sat and ordered. No good marks for the wait staff but the food "Greek Family" was good with plenty of variety's and options. My suggestion to the owners is "don't let people sit anywhere they want. Have them wait to be seated, show them a seat and let the wait staff know someone new has been seated. read more

Fiona or whoever is supposed to run the restaurant then entire time I was there she was on her phone and not once did she stop at our table to check and see if we were OK. Today while having lunch with my wife and brother we heard someone from behind us hacking Or coughing. I turned to see a group of three servers at the location the sound was coming from. I asked aren't you all supposed to wear masks and one server stated she was wearing a mask and it's around my neck. I said you need to wear it over your nose and mouth. She replied that they have passed every inspection and was told that it wasn't necessary to have mouth and nose covered. Another server came to our table and introduced herself as the owner and that all her employees wear masks. I pointed out the server without a mask and owner said it was ok since the server was wearing it around her neck. We were forced to leave not only because of the health code violation but the shabby service and treatment received. read more

We unfortunately chose a terrible time to visit, right before a large group from a local church took over half the restaurant. To their credit, our waitress was very attentive and checked on us regularly. Food was good, a bit cold when it got to us and took nearly an hour which I blame squarely on the large group before us and not the staff in any way. Four stars is due to the restaurant feeling very cramped and overly loud. Not sure if that's because of the location or the large group. But we are definitely going back.
