Finally found an old school diner with super reasonable prices, great service and quick service! This diner is in a strip mall with a few tables outside and a good number inside. There's even a few barstools towards the kitchen. Upon entering the waitress said I could sit wherever I wished, and brought menus for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast served all day. After looking things over - opted for a meat omelette. The omelette comes with hash browns, home fries or grits and toast. Just a very few minutes after ordering the food arrived. Food was well cooked, and tasted great with a little hot sauce. There's nothing fancy about the food but it's really good and you can't beat the price and service. Definitely will be a go-to if I'm anywhere close! read more

I don't like leaving bad reviews but have to when needed, it's important. Service was exceptional for what it's worth and ambiance was small but full of people who were eager to try and enjoy there breakfast. It was pretty busy when we went here. Unfortunately, not only did I find a long blonde hair in my food .. my boyfriend found a short black hair in his food. I understand nothings perfectly clean but for both of us to find hair in our food in unacceptable. No matter how busy your business gets, especially we were customers for the first time coming here. Besides us both finding hair in our food my potatoes were severely undercooked if you can tell in the photo. I did find cooked potatoes hidden underneath my last slice of toast for what it's worth I guess.... Super disappointed in the food, but service was top notch really enjoyed my friendly waiter. read more

Overworked server I had an opportunity to stop in at Katie's Café this morning, a local breakfast and lunch place along SR70. It was about half full when I walked in. I hesitated at the entrance for a few seconds to see if anyone wanted to show me to a table or tell me to seat myself. Looked like there was just one server on the floor taking an order and I didn't see anyone else, so I just headed to an empty table. Customers that arrived later went right to tables, more in the know than me. My observation of one server was correct, and the place filled up. She was on overdrive trying to get the job done for all during my visit. Getting started took a few minutes, but I finally got coffee and a menu. They have a weekday special of 3 eggs and a meat for like 5 bucks, that must be popular. I opted for a menu item, their Kielbasa Scramble. It took about 15 minutes to arrive and the scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and pieces of sausage was delicious. My home fries, thin sliced potatoes, were not that good and I left most on my plate. Before the food arrived I realized I was running a little late, so I had already set my credit card on the table to see if I could settle up while I was eating. My server dropped off the food, said she would check back with me in a few, and whoosh she was gone, either not seeing the card or not wanting to deal with it at that time. When I overheard her telling another customer they didn't accept credit cards, I switched out my card for some cash. My server didn't check back in a few, and when I was almost finished eating the bill was dropped off on the run. I was able to leave my cash payment and head out without having to wait to pay and get change. The scramble was great, I wish service was covered by more than one person. read more

Today was our second time having breakfast from Katie's Cafe. The First time we ate IN the restaurant. The restaurant has a cozy feel to it. And the food was excellent, good portion size for a good price, & all the staff I came in contact with was very friendly & helpful! Today, I did carry out. The young lady who took my phone order was personable & helpful. She even put some ice in the orange juice so it would stay cold till I got home. When I arrived I was greeted with enthusiasm, making me feel welcome. This may have only been the 2nd time a a meal from Katie's Cafe, but it definitely won't be the last! read more

I think we caught them on an off day. After waiting 35 minutes for our food, the service remained poor at best. Everyone else seemed to be served quickly as many folks sitting near us (who arrived after we did) were able to get their food and checks before we ever ate. Once my breakfast burrito arrived it was pretty good. But again our drink refills didn't come until we requested the check and the extra salsa I requested never appeared. I am forced to drop this place from a five star to a two star. Here's why: service was agonizingly slow, almost 30 minutes for the four of us. The hash browns were tired, dried out and brittle. The corned beef has was burned beyond repair. The only bright spot was the coffee...it was fresh. This all occurred at 8:30 last Thursday. The service was not quite as good as in the past either. I will give the place another try because of my earlier high ratings. But in this game you only get two strikes, I hope they recover. read more

What a wonderful welcome and service! This business has got an excellent hands on owner and a great team behind him. We were greeted and served with genuine enthusiasm and interest, as did all the other customers, many of whom were clearly regulars. Whilst we only had a modest breakfast of bagels and fruit, everything was really excellent. We were also witness to the quality of food being served to everyone else and this all looked to be really good. In particular, the ham and leek quiche (made that day by the owner) got rave reviews from a neighbouring table. How on earth we've missed this gem of a cafe in our neighbourhood I'll never know. However, we're now going to make up for lost time! We shall certainly be back. It's just a question of how many visits we can squeeze in in the next couple of weeks! read more

The food is very good but the overall feeling is "Made and served with Love". This is my 2nd time having breakfast here. Each time it's been exactly what I was hoping for. Quality food at a good price, that comes out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. You can tell it's the place all the locals go to (I'm not local). The local police all seem to eat here and groups of regulars can be found chatting about everything from the weather to politics to friendly gossip. The wait staff has a kind and caring attitude and always make me feel welcome. Please note that this is a "Cash Only" operation. While I usually complain about that in other restaurants, it almost seems fitting here. Just the way it would have been 50 years ago. They do have an onsite ATM. We came in for breakfast yesterday. The coffee is not strong but had a good flavor. The breakfast was a good value. I had the build your own omelet with sausage and cheese. My cousin had the 2-2-2. She says the pancake was very good. They are taking good precautions for Covid putting partitions in between the booths. Paper disposable menus & disposable utensils. This place has a lot of regulars, most are on a first name basis. For me it's a greasy spoon. Home fries we're not edible, too greasy and not cooked through. I'm surprised the health department doesn't clamp down on the cleanliness or lack of. Immediately warm and welcoming, and very speedy and on top of things. Only wish that I had known ahead of time that it's cash-only, as I had some issues with the ATM machine there (awesome that they provide that though).
