We stopped into The Toasted Yolk Cafe after an early morning flight. I ordered the Garden Breakfast Bowl. It included kale, quinoa, bulgur wheat, brown rice, cherry tomatoes, onions, spinach, mushrooms, broccoli, and avocado with a lemon za'atar vinaigrette. The broccoli and spinach were practically nonexistent in my bowl! The portion was surprisingly small for the price. The food was mediocre at best and reminded me of something you would get from a chain or fast food restaurant. While our waitress was friendly and the restaurant was bright and clean, the meal itself was disappointing. I would not return. read more

This spot is fantastic! The traditional Eggs Benedict are delicious as are the breakfast potatoes. The kids' also enjoyed their pancakes, sausage, eggs and bacon. The Gouda grits with chopped bacon and green onions (I skipped the tomatoes) are some of the best grits I've ever had. I also love the full bar -- the Bloody Marys and variety of mimosas are excellent. Service has been consistently fast, friendly, and attentive, and the atmosphere is lively, clean, and cozy with a great Southern feel. Definitely a favorite! We wandered into Toasted Yolk after a morning dog walk and ended up having one of the sweetest brunch experiences. They immediately brought out dog treats for our pup (and yes, they even have a full doggy menu). Note to self: next time, don't feed him beforehand. We sat outside on the patio, which was relaxing and super pet friendly. I ordered the fried chicken with gravy Arnold and it was delicious in that "don't talk to me, I'm having a moment" kind of way. My husband got a breakfast burrito with queso and french toast. He requested no peppers nor onions. His first plate came out incorrect, but our server fixed it right away, and the manager personally checked in to make sure everything was perfect. They didn't just correct the order, they made sure he had everything he needed to enjoy his breakfast and gave him another french toast. As we were leaving, the manager literally ran outside to hand us extra dog treats. Small gesture, big impact. These are the little acts of kindness that make you want to return. I love a good fried pickle but who would have thought about fried banana peppers?! Game changer! We stumbled across this place accidentally and decided to give it a try. Tons of space inside and I loved the cute artwork. Servers were friendly and the manager came by a few times to check on us and suggest some meals. The eggs Benedict was tasty and the fried chicken on a biscuit was yummy (pro tip: put the banana peppers inside the sandwich and thank me later). The hash brown casserole was better than Cracker Barrel's and I loved the chili toppings you can add on top. Kids French toast for my nephew was also a win! My fiancé and I recently moved to the area and decided to stop in for a bite--and we're so glad we did! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations, which we really appreciated given how extensive the menu is. Quite an experience with toasted yolk cafe. The food was alright, but the entire morning was ruined based on how the general manager acted toward us. I work in a restaurant so I understand the stress while seating and managing people, but that was no excuse. When we wanted to all sit together the manager mark got upset with us. Our waitress Audrey was so so sweet. I believe it was her first day and she was so kind. But while our food came out incorrectly he kept looking over and seemed irritated. Also waited for our checks really long. We honestly tried our best to not be annoying, but just the feeling of neglect and rudeness really ruined our morning. The ambiance was very nice...certain enhancements always moves the benchmark up a bit (i.e.) linen napkins, high quality silverware and nicely advertised coffee mugs. I took myself to lunch and enjoyed the entire experience. Nicholas was my server and he was personable and attentive. I had a cold brew latte and it was good! I ordered the veggie scramble and was able to substitute the fruit in stead of potatoes. The food came fast. I went close to 2 pm so there wasn't any wait. This is absolutely my favorite breakfast place! They have plenty of creative dishes that are amazing but even the standards are perfect. I have no idea what they do, but I have never had anything I didn't love. Maria V was our latest server and she was great. Super friendly and attentive and that is also something I've experienced every time....friendly people throughout. If you're in Lakewood Ranch and go anywhere else, at best, you went to the second best breakfast around. So make sure to try it. read more

Everything I've had has been delicious! We had a wonderful server named Austin who was on top of everything and made sure to check on us several times. He also gave some great recommendations and suggested I try the Fried Banana Peppers after telling him I liked spicy food. They were awesome, thanks, Austin!! I tried this place in Houston first, realized I desperately needed more Toasted Yolk in my life, then drove an hour from Tampa to Sarasota just for brunch. Was it worth it? YES. I got the churro donuts, hashbrown casserole, and a toddler sized amount of pancakes. First off, the donuts were incredible-- better than some donuts I've had at dedicated donut shops. They taste exactly like churros but with the slightly softer texture of a cake donut. Even though they're great on their own, the sauce just made me love them even more. GET THESE IF NOTHING ELSE. As for the hashbrown casserole, also amazing. I love that they mix cream of chicken soup with it, it's like the epitome of southern comfort food. Finally the pancakes. Unless you're a 300 lb body builder or trying to feed a family of 7 for under $15, do not make the same mistake I did and get 3. The default on the menu is 3, but I promise you will probably only eat 2 at most. They're seriously the biggest pancakes I've ever seen in my life, and also my new favorite. These taste so good even without syrup or butter, the amount of sweetness in them is already perfect, and I love how fluffy they are. My partner also got the spiked cold brew, and while it honestly sounded like it was gonna be bad (I'm not a fan of vodka at all), it was so good! Highly recommend if you love iced coffee but want something a little fancier. I was very shocked when I came on a Saturday during lunch time, and there was practically nobody. Probably the most relaxing brunch I've ever had. Staff was very polite and friendly. Overall, this is definitely my top brunch spot at the moment! The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The hollandaise sauce is very good. The English muffins were fine, and the Canadian bacon was fine, and the casserole potato hashbrowns were good, but the serving was really small. There was more space on my plate in the middle then the eggs and the potatoes. For that money, I should've gotten a couple of rashes with bakers or something in the middle. The food was cooked perfectly and that was fine and good but my server was I don't know what. She said she took my order brought me my water and then I never saw her again after she dropped off my flight and I really wanted some ketchup. I thought that the ketchup looking bottle on the table with ketchup, but it wasn't. it was hot sauce. I never saw them again until she brought me the bill. I left her a note tip and I explained hey you ignored me the whole time. If she were a better server, I would've given this place probably four stars. I think it's kind of expensive for what I got, but the quality was really good and the cooking was perfect. read more

Could not be more disappointed. First time ordering from here and boy was that a mistake. I ordered the Grilled Chicken sandwich and made the following modification: no tomato or onion, change honey mustard for bbq sauce. When I finished my order the representative read back what I had ordered and said EXACTLY what I wanted. When I opened the sandwich 1) there was no cheese, nor any bacon (which are both supposed to be included). 2) The size of the chicken was so small it didn't even fill the size of the bread. 3) the bread was so soggy that I essentially just threw it out. I guess what they have going for them is that they did include the BBQ but overall just a terrible display of communication between the front desk and the kitchen. Mentioned to waitress and she could clearly see toast was toasted on one side and oil drenched!
