I have a professionally installed hardwired system with door and window contacts, motion detectors, and glass-break sensors. My Vista-20P panel and Honeywell keypads are still widely used, so I wanted to keep my existing equipment. I sent a fairly technical request to four different local alarm companies. Destiny Aguilar from Alarm Relay (a subsidiary of Watchlight) was the only person who responded immediately and provided a proposal with two monitoring options. I chose the plan that best fit my needs because the activation fee, monitoring cost, and equipment pricing were all very reasonable--and lower than the other three bids. She answered all of my follow-up questions promptly and never tried to sell me a new system, unlike some of the other companies. I also liked the one-year agreement because it gave me the opportunity to evaluate the company without being locked into the two- or three-year contracts the other bidders required. To make the deal even better, she included four months of free monitoring. The only caveat is that Alarm Relay ships the communicator directly to you and schedules an appointment with a technician, who guides you through the installation and testing over the phone. The installation was straightforward, the process went smoothly, and I'm now a happy Alarm Relay customer. If you're not comfortable with the DIY approach, you can arrange for one of their technicians to come to your home. There is a very reasonable charge for the visit and labor. As a nice finishing touch, Destiny contacted me afterward to make sure everything had gone well and that I was satisfied. Kudos to her for providing outstanding customer service!

Saul was able to use the existing PoE cables and he ran new Ethernet Cat6 cables behind the drywall and between the ceiling joists for new camera locations. Note that you may need to get a drywalling company (e.g www.omegadrywallsd.com) to fix all the drywall holes if you want a professional finish or you can get a drywall repair kit and do it yourself. Saul had installed multiple Eufy systems before and he knew how to set up and configure the NVR via the mobile app which was helpful and saved a lot of time. We also installed a remote RF HDMI link and an active 15ft USB cable RF mouse extender to the NVR to allow us to see and control all the cameras feeds at once on a big screen TV, as well as on the mobile app. Saul contacted Eufy to make sure we installed the correct active USB extender, as the Eufy NVR USB port is low power and doesn't support long USB cables or Windows drivers. Lastly, we installed a WiFi interface module to the NVR to connect some portable indoor WiFi cameras for locations where PoE wiring wasn't an option. You should budget a couple hours to install and set up the Eufy NVR system plus at least an hour for each new camera install and the associated PoE cable going behind the drywall, so potentially $750-$1500 for system installation, depending on how much work is required. Saul was quick at installing all the hardware, but it's a lot of work and worth every penny to get it done right !

He took the time to talk through the different placement options for the cameras. He showed me what I would see through the Ring app before he attached each camera to the wall. He tested everything before he left. Saul is also just a nice guy. Not required but always preferred. He'll be back to setup my Smart Lock. NOTE: Because I didn't want to depend on batteries, I needed to have the cords run down the wall. Try to picture how the cameras would look with no wire.
