Celebrating 25 Years at One of Our Favorite Steakhouses! Last night was a very special night for my wife and me -- we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary, and we decided to spend it at one of our favorite steakhouses, Firebirds. We arrived a little early to beat the dinner crowd, and just as I suspected, the restaurant wasn't very busy. We were seated immediately, and to our surprise, our waitress was Nigh (I hope I'm spelling that correctly!). She has waited on us before, and we were so happy to see her again. She is honestly one of the sweetest servers you could ask for -- friendly, super polite, attentive, and just an all-around great waitress. Since we arrived early, we were able to take advantage of their early dinner special, which offers eight different entrées to choose from. I went with the Asiago Creamy Spicy Pasta, which came with chicken, diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, and penne pasta. I also started with a BLT salad, which was delicious. And, of course, Firebirds brings fresh bread to the table, which is always a nice bonus. My wife chose the meatloaf with mushroom gravy, served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We both agreed -- the meals were absolutely delicious! And because we were celebrating, we couldn't leave without ordering one of our absolute favorites: Big Daddy Chocolate Cake! How do I describe this cake? Imagine the most decadent, rich, chocolatey dessert you've ever had... now multiply that by 10. That's probably getting close to describing how good this cake is! It is seriously that delicious. Once again, Firebirds delivered exactly what we've come to expect: great food, great service, and a wonderful experience. Most importantly, they helped make our 25th wedding anniversary a little more special, and we truly appreciate that. Thanks, Firebirds, for another fantastic meal and another great memory. Solid chain steak house. Their table service is great. Food is consistently good, and I don't feel like I'm overpaying. Wine selection is mediocre, but the full bar gives you lots of options. Dining area can be full without feeling crowded or loud. If you're eating in, it's worth making reservations. If you're taking out, take the time to check your order (mistakes are not frequent, but I would expect zero at the price). read more

Our food was prepared exactly as requested, and it was all excellent. Our waitress, Tracy, did an exceptional job of taking care of every need or want, even surprising my husband with a birthday dessert (Creme Brulee Cheesecake) and a card, and sending us off with To Go drinks without us even asking. The ambiance is pleasant and comfortable; as upscale as you want to make it, but casual enough that you're not out of place in jeans. I'm really looking forward to their patio reopening after a lengthy reconstruction. They also have great Happy Hour drinks and apps. read more

Came here for our 25th anniversary. We ordered off the early bird menu. I had the butcher meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli as well as the blt salad with fresh bread. The salad is so good, it had fresh lettuce, tomato & bacon with garlic parmesan dressing. The meatloaf came out very hot and the broccoli was super tender. The bread was warm and fresh. Our server Nigha is awesome. We have had her before and loved her. She remembered us and talked to us for awhile and was VERY ATTENTIVE to anything we needed. She asked what we were celebrating and brought us our absolute favorite dessert Big Daddy's Chocolate Cake to share. This cake is our absolute favorite so it made our night. Finished with an appointment nearby and needed a bite to eat. This was not our first choice but it worked. Saw seats at the bar and headed over. Bartender got us water and menus pretty quickly despite being busy. Ordered drinks and he got those mixed right away. Place was busy but quiet. Nice atmosphere for an easy dinner out. The chicken sandwich and tots were good. Order a side of the hot honey sauce for dipping- you will be pleased. My wife liked the salad but that is what she always orders. Nice place. read more

I want to thank everyone who commented on my post last week. This morning I PASSED my career exam and treated myself to a steak lunch! There were four votes for Firebirds Wood Fired Grill and that was a great suggestion for today. They are open for lunch and the wait staff, kitchen staff, and managers were great! I ordered the 12oz Aged Ribeye (medium rare) with Southwest Au Gratin Potatoes. I had a great conversation with Robbie, my waiter, and the restaurant brought out Creme Brulée Cheesecake bites which were incredible! Firebirds was an excellent choice to celebrate this morning's win! The atmosphere was comfortable with a perfect amount of light and minimal noise. read more

We had a 5pm reservation here for Christmas Eve, arrived about 15 minutes early, and were seated by 5:07pm. Upon entering the restaurant, no host was there to greet us and their entrance doesn't really have a waiting area so everyone was standing around awkwardly or taking up seats by the bar. Despite that, the staff were nice when they did arrive finally. We were seated in a booth in the back by the kitchen and it was decorated nicely but nothing too special. The lighting is awfully bright and directly overhead, but otherwise it was pleasant. Our waitress greeted us and promptly took our drink orders. The whole evening she was very sweet and attentive. She brought every item out so quickly! We ordered the holiday margarita (refreshing and delicious!), the old fashioned and the Go Figure (both were great), a burning bushel (amazing), and a perfect margarita...somehow they made the perfect margarita wrong and it tasted as if they put butter in it - yuck! We replaced it with the strawberry cucumber margarita and it was also very good and refreshing. For appetizers we enjoyed their complimentary bread (literally melt in your mouth!) and the wood grilled chimichurri shrimp. It was insanely good! The shrimp came out warm and the whipped goat cheese wasn't overpowering and complimented the dish nicely and the charred corn salsa was perfect. For dinner most of us enjoyed the three course menu which was so much food for a great price! The caesar salad, mixed green salad with raspberry vinaigrette, and blue cheese salad were all very good. For dinner we had perfectly cooked filet mignon. I upgraded mine to the blue cheese filet and did not regret it! Perfectly cooked and seasoned mushrooms topped my filet with blue cheese and the BLT compound butter was phenomenal! The mashed potatoes...so good! Unfortunately, for the others in my party that had the broccoli, they said it was undercooked and the cider slaw was not too great. One person in my party ordered the tomahawk pork chop and it was so juicy and flavorful, and the side of carrots was seasoned perfectly. Finally, for dessert, we enjoyed the seasonal bread pudding, the crème brûlée cheesecake, and the big daddy chocolate cake. Everything we tried was very tasty, although I think my bread pudding was missing the chopped nuts that would have been perfect. Overall, great experience here, despite a couple of hiccups. Came to dinner just missing the happy hour. Got a great table by the fireplace. Had other guest stopping by to get warm. lol. Went with the 3 course meal which was a great choice for my tummy and wallet. Best part was the dessert! Our waiter's name was Dan and he was the nicest person and so thoughtful. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and had tried the drink I wanted earlier in the week and spoke very highly of it, The Ginger Lowdown (highly recommend). We were celebrating our wedding anniversary so he brought us complimentary crème brûlée cheesecakes, delicious. We came in during cocktail hour but chose to sit in the dining room. Very calm vibe in the dining room and the cocktail area. Loved it. For dinner we had the Bleu Cheese Filet Mignon and the Dry Aged Ribeye. First, I must say that I have always felt like Firebirds does a great job with presentation. And this experience did nothing to change my mind. However, I will say the prices feel like they've gone up and my wife ordered a Caesar salad with a tenderloin on it, and the meat was hard to eat. It had so much seasoning on the meat that it was like eating a piece of salt. I had the meatloaf which was very good and the deviled egg appetizer was excellent. The service at Firebirds is always excellent and we've enjoyed a variety of entrees. And, we've never been disappointed with any of our selections. Decided to go here for our anniversary. They really didn't do anything for our anniversary even though they asked on the reservations what we were celebrating. Nobody really said anything so I'm not sure if they even do anything to be honest. My wife ordered the tenderloin salad and I ordered the three course special with barbecue ribs tortilla soup and a crème brûlée cheesecake. My wife's salads tenderloin was undercooked and was rare and surprisingly had gristle on it, which is odd for a tenderloin? It's almost like they tried to shred the tenderloin. Really disappointed with the past two take out orders from here. This is the second time in a row we have ordered takeout for a family birthday and the food has been over cooked and dry. For a steakhouse you would expect medium rare to have flavor but both times the medium rare has been closer to well done and turned the steak dry. read more

This was one of our favorite places to go. The server was nice until they got busy then more or less vaporized. My wife's dish ordered on of the three course items Salmon. I ordered a 9 oz filet and a side of shrimp. The salmon was fishy. Salmon is not fishy. The shrimp was just done. The salad was good. We sent back the dish to exchange it for the chicken. When it arrived it was pounded to about 1/3 of an inch (like you would use for Piccata) and the consistency of leather. The sides were mediocre at best. My steak was done as asked, but extremely salty and the wood fired smoke taste overpowered the taste of the steak. The fries were good and my side of shrimp was cooked but extremely salty. My wife was so frustrated that we asked to take it home after 2 bites. We had asked for the dessert to be prepared for takeout but it arrived on the table. As my wife didn't eat she ate the dessert and called it dinner. It was our anniversary and there was no offer of a discount or comp. Very very disappointed. read more

So I arrived here for dinner with a work group and let's just say I loved my 9oz filet suggested by a coworker . So I ordered the 3 course with a sirloin but instead got this juicy mouth watering filet mignon cooked to my perfection . In town for a band competition in nearby Hilliard and we wanted to eat over by Cabela's and IKEA. Chose this place. Not a bad spot. It's fancy in here. I will say though that it seems it can't decide if it wants to be a sandwich place or a higher end steak and wine place. So it's all smashed into one. Service and ambience were good this Saturday afternoon. Food was quite good. I will say though and why it only gets 4 stars is that the club sandwich I had was nearly $20 and it didn't need to be. I have never been disappointed when I have to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill at Polaris. I was celebrating my birthday month along with my friends' Wedding Anniversary too. I enjoyed the Onion Rings with Ranch Dressing before the meal. The husband had BBQ Ribs with Broccoli and the wife had Steak Frities, they gave her fries instead of the mashed potatoes but the servers gave her the mashed potatoes anyway. I had mixed greens salad with Honey Mustard dressing before I had the 16 oz. Cajun Ribeye with Mushrooms & Onions with yummy Southwest Au Gratin Potatoes. If there is a birthday or anniversary, they give complimentary Cheesecake Bites. I had mine for my birthday and the couple shared their own Cheesecake Bites. Never been here before but enjoyable. This place is a nice upscaleish steak house. I say upscalish because upon entry we were sat a high table right next to the bar. Typical bar food seating and that is I suppose a "negative". The actual table is what I am referring too. It was modern design shaped but this table is not very great when you seat 4 people, plates and drinks. Our serve was competent but we didn't get the attention one should get when spending money, this place was good but a little pricey. Seemed he was left alone to serve that zone and he seemed to be everywhere but not enough around us checking to make sure we didn't go "dry". first world problems. Again, the food was good. Let's talk about the prime steaks selection that they have. I remember coming to Firebirds when they first opened and it was a Yelp elite event years ago. The service is top-tier and the manager always comes out to greet everyone not just asking about how our food was but to say hello and group everyone that was in your party. My favorite dish happens to be their filet mignon made to order which I like my steaks, medium rare top tier chef work when it comes to the food! We decided to go to Firebirds to celebrate a friend's belated birthday. I hadn't been to Firebirds in well over a year, but quickly remembered why I like this place. The ambiance is very warm, dim lighting, peaceful, relaxing, and welcoming. Well loved the fireplace as well. We chose to go a Sunday, and boy was it busy. No one cooks Sunday dinner anymore . Our waiter was very nice, patient, and knowledgeable, which we appreciated because we asked a lot of questions before finally placing an order. I ordered the three course option, which was a good deal for all that you receive. An appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. I chose the Caesar Salad for my Appetizer, Cilantro Chicken with a baked potato and broccoli for my entree, and I ended up taking my dessert home, which was a chocolate brownie Sundae. It was delicious! My friend ordered the Honey Garlic Chicken which consisted of Grilled chicken, honey garlic glaze , cherry tomatoes, balsamic, basil, and seasonal vegetables. We switched our reservation from Mastros and are so glad we ended up at Firebirds! Tracey was phenomenal and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The Pineapple Paradise drink was amazing, the deviled eggs were a great appetizer, and the wedge salad was fantastic with delicious dressing. The Surf & Turf with filet, lobster, and mashed potatoes was excellent, and the Parmesan-crusted chicken with carrots was equally delicious. Wow...this place has gone downhill. A friend said so as well when I was telling her about my experience. First off..Brunch. Not Dinner. People in our group ordered the Ribs, Salmon and a burger...those were all fine. The Breakfast Sandwich..egg, bacon and cheese biscuit..or a BLT..anything with Bacon..avoid...unless you like it undercooked and limp. The manager, lied right to my face when she brought me new well done (as I originally asked for) bacon. She said..it looks like less bacon because it's cooked more well done!! What a stupid thing to say!! Do you think I'm an idiot and can't count??!!! She took away about 8 pieces of limp bacon and brought me 2.5 crispy pieces!!! Then..by the time all that happened..my obviously microwaved biscuit had turned to stone..couldn't eat it at all. My server said that her manager told her to charge me full price! I refused to pay $18 for something I couldn't eat. Eventually, after some arguing..we got it taken off the bill. No apologies, no other concessions...nothing! My daughter had the exact same issue with her BLT. She was charged and paid for nothing. After that experience..they lost 2 customers and more to follow I'm sure. Do they care? Not bloody likely. They will be going under soon unless they make changes quickly. read more

I used to love having dinner at Firebirds. I loved their prime rib, which now they only serve on the weekends. I went on a Wednesday and since they don't serve prime rib anymore during the week, I got the rib eye. It wasn't good at all. I like my steaks med rare, which it was in most parts but the outside was charred to a burnt crisp. All I tasted was burnt meat. I felt like I was eating at a cheap steak house except for the price. Their quality has gone way down. It's disappointing. read more

I really enjoyed visiting this restaurant. I was in town on business, debating where to get a steak dinner, and chose this location as I have been to a Firebirds in Cranberry, PA with fond memories. I sat at the bar, so, I can't speak for the regular wait staff. The service I received was beyond excellent as they had two bartenders handling everything for the duration of my visit. I started with a double diamond martini as they fuse pineapple and vodka in house. It was spectacular. I then ordered a 16 oz Cajun Ribeye (medium), side loaded baked potato, add Caesar Salad. Food was really good and the steak was fantastic at its price point. Ultimately, I really enjoyed my visit here. Is it inexpensive, no, but is it a much better product at their price point than competitors - absolutely. I really like Firebirds a lot. Yesterday evening I visited Firebirds with a group of seven friends. We were dead set on checking out the happy hour menu so we arrived a little before 5 in hopes of getting a seat in either the bar area or on the patio where they have happy hour. Unfortunately, they don't take reservations for happy hour seating. When we arrived the patio and bar were packed. However the dining area was essentially empty. After 15 minutes of looking at the packed tables sadly 2 tables in the bar area opened up. The tables are kind of "s" shaped and bolted down. One of the tables was a high top and the other a short almost kids table. The "kids table" had 4 square footstool type chairs. It was an odd setup but it worked out. The reason I gave Firebirds 4 stars was the food and drinks. I ordered a double black diamond (whatever that means) martini off the happy hour menu. It was extremely tasty. For food we ordered everything off the appetizer menu to share. Which was prime rib sliders, fried shrimp, steak tacos, crispy cauliflower, Parmesan fries, beef sliders, chicken nachos and crab and corn fritters. I thought all the food except for the prime rib sliders was great. The prime rib was kind of bland. Most of my group, including myself, thought the crab and corn fritters was the very best offering. Finally the service could have been a little better. He was nice but he pretty much disappeared after we got our food. I would have liked a water refill and had a difficult time finding him for the check. Firebird still worth it for the food and drinks! read more

The food was average, the chips that came out were stale, and the entrées themselves were average. I came in from town and thought I would try a new place and was disappointed. First off the service was very slow. Took 45 min for our food to arrive. We were there for at least two hours maybe longer. My 4 month old granddaughter was getting fussy and my 88 year old mother was getting tired. My other daughter who is 5 months pregnant did not like her shrimp strawberry salad she said that the shrimp were cold. My husband's steak wasn't done how he wanted it and was tough. My wife and I went for our 10 year anniversary and were amazed at the food and atmosphere. I think our server was also the bar manager and even though it was busy he had control over the whole area and managed to give us an incredible experience. I'm generally a steak eater and their steaks looked impressive but we both ended up having the salmon on risotto and were so impressed with both the taste and presentation.
