Second time here... This time for happy hour! We sat inside where it was lit nicely but soon the lights went way down. The fire was going, which I found interesting considering it was a warm day. Im assuming for ambiance. Our waitress was ok, soft spoken and not the most outgoing. She seemed like she had something on her mind. Tonight was martini Monday, so had the pineapple martini and it was a little sweet but delicious. I would definitely get this one again. I have been here twice with groups of friends (7 and 18 people). Both times we had reservations. Second time we came for the martini Monday happy hour and made the reservation stating that we were interested in that and that we'd had previous problems with service and food. We were told that that they hoped we'd be happy. Upon arrival, we were informed that we could not have happy hour prices inside and had to sit outside where a fire was burning on a 70 degree something day. The tables also wouldn't accommodate our party. We asked for them to honor happy hour for our group inside which they did because by that time most of us were there. Our waitress wasn't very upbeat and didn't seem extremely knowledgeable about the menu or happy hour. We came here to celebrate a birthday and the atmosphere was perfect. We sat not far from the server area and saw several delightful dishes being served. Stacey was the hostest/ possibly manager with the mostest. I personally saw her work the room with a great smile assuring everyone at each table were happy with their service. Oh, how I forgot about Firebirds! It's been a while since my last visit, but I decided to treat myself to lunch for my birthday weekend. Especially since I had a $10 reward to use. I chose to sit on the patio because the weather was perfect. They brought out the bread, and I started off with the BLT salad, which was just as delicious as I remembered. Came here for happy hour and they have one of the best in Birmingham. From 3-6 they have a good variety of cocktails and appetizers for great prices. I recently stopped in for a pre-birthday lunch dining alone. I was initially being seated across from a large party and asked to be seated in a more quieter area. I'm so glad I did. My server was Nicole. she was amazing, very warm, friendly able to explain menu items with ease, she visited the table often to update me on my food preparation, once I receive the food she returned to ask if I was enjoying my meal. Today was good, but lower that my normal expectations for Firebirds. First, our waiter was very uninspired. Very mechanical and lack of any personality. Firebirds....what has happened to thee? You used to be my favorite upscale restaurant. Now...not so much. The food isn't as good as it used to be. I visited back in February for my birthday, and I was sorely disappointed. My salmon dish, which I have raved about with friends, was lackluster and lacked the flavor I had grown accustomed to. The sides were just as bland and cold to the touch. My friend had to send part of his order back in order for it to be warmed up. You get exactly what you expect, and maybe even a little more at this chain restaurant. We are regulars here, not every week or even every month by any means, but at least once every 6 months or so. We like to sit in their covered area outside. We generally order their steak sandwich and their BLT salad. Reasonable portion size along with their complImentary bread, we're always happy when we leave. My daughter and I came 06/13 and honestly some of THE best customer service I've ever had. Halle was our server and she was phenomenal. I asked what I should get and all her recommendations landed. A lot of managers passed by, but Stacy was the most memorable and put the cherry on top for customer service. For them alone I would return. Great happy hour menu! Seating for happy hour is outside, bar or cocktail tables. The menu is vast and has some amazing deals. We started with double black diamond martinis and they were $7.95 at happy hour. The shareable plates feed 2-3 people and were plentiful. We shared prime rib sliders as they came 2 per order. They were piled with shaved prime rib and included horseradish sauce, crispy onions on a toasted brioche. We also had chicken chile nachos and roasted garlic parm fries which were both great. I'll stop by occasionally to eat some shared plates that are available from 2-6:00 pm Monday-Friday. I like the prime rib sliders, steak tacos and chicken nachos. I haven't tried the other shared plates. Keep in mind these are only available at the bar and patio area I believe. Robert was my server and he was awesome. Very personable. Gave me some great menu tips for next time. I usually sit on the patio where it's relaxing and depending on the time kind of quiet. Has big fireplace and a couple of TVs. First our server was Jackson. Highly recommend this guy. I am very particular so he missed one or two things but for me that's expected. But he recovered very quick. He's spot on with refills. He's very accomodating with requests. I can't say enough good things about this server. I've never had a bad experience at this facility. Each server I've had has been good but some are better than others. Jackson exceeded expectations. We had the Ahi Tuna starter with sauces on the side since my wife can't do spicy stuff. But I highly recommmend adding the cilantro vinagrette sauce that comes with the normal salad to dip the tuna in. it should be part of the starter. The bacon deviled eggs are awesome but they do come with jalapeno so if you don't do spicy then ask for it without. I forgot this time but our server, Jackson, took care of that for us. I had the surf and turf (bacon wrapped filet with lobster tail) with charred carrots (carrots are the bomb). Wife had filet with parmesan mashed potatoes. equally awesome. Step daughters had Aged ribeye and chicken pasta. Both enjoyed their meals as quite awesome. There are no complaints about this place. It's the service that shines more than the quality of food. That is not normal in these days. I tip well. I tip very well when it is warranted. It's always warranted at Firebird. But if you are looking for excellent service ask for Jackson. Now to be honest it's a 3.5 but since no half stars had to either go up or down and I do feel it's better than 3 so had to go up. We got the meat tacos garlic Parmesan fries and sliders. I was pleased with all entrees. The cajun sauce was a nice addition to the ribeye. I planned a date night for my husband because I'm a good wife...as I was trying to think of a nice restaurant to get dinner at I landed on firebirds because when I was a kid it was super fancy as an adult very lack luster, the restaurant was very loud which is to be expected on a Saturday but the hostess was gone from the stand for almost 10mins before she walked back up asking if I had a reservation which thankfully I did. We sat in the outside dining room which was nice and clean, very spacious the chairs were a bit awkward and hard but not a big deal I ordered the garlic butter ribeye steak 7oz (medium rare) and mixed vegetables about 3 of those ounces were pure GRISTLE AND FAT the cut was absolutely terrible and for the price I paid (around $30) I expected a better cut even if it was a small portion, they were very generous with the butter however, like a palm sized amount slapped on my tiny steak it over kill and looked sloppy, my vegetables were also a joke if I'm honest it was just chunks of squash, zucchini about 6 baby carrot slice and I AM SERIOUS one fork full of broccoli pieces and I'm talking the small pieces that break off in the bag and to top it off they were unevenly cooked and almost raw! My husbands mean was fine nothing to write home about if I'm honest something you can make at home The drinks were great though maybe they should just stick to that! The Brunch Burger, had a lot of flavors going on. It was like different meals, all put on a bun. It had, a fried egg, bacon, jam, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, just too much too eat at one time, but pretty good, I would say. Their house lemonade was, very good, I can see people wanting to order that, by the gallons to take home, to have later to enjoy.
