I LOVE buttery, flaky pastries, and Firebrand makes some of my fave! Their savory danish with tomato and caramelized onions is ~chef's kiss~! Same with their blackberry cream cheese danish. I love their mix of both savory and sweet options, and you don't have to worry about them selling out early in the day. Aside from the danishes, I've also tried their savory kouign amann, which has an everything bagel cream cheese filling, their ham and cheese croissant and matcha croissant, their passion fruit bomboloni, and a big French loaf. The only thing I didn't particularly care for was the matcha croissant, which had a tangy yogurt taste to it - not sure if I just got a bad one that day. Finally got to try the honey biscuit sandwich. I love biscuits and have been drooling on our last three visits as I watched my buddy eat his. I decided to get one, and just have the sausage put to the side since I'm not a fan. The clerk at the counter mentioned that I could substitute a slice of avocado in place of the sausage. Thanks for the suggestion! So good. Even better would be to have a plant based sausage, but baby steps are better than nothing. One thing that I learned on my last visit was that if you get a fancy coffee your food might come before the coffee is ready. These folks are super efficient and organized. read more

Dogs are not allowed inside it is an open bakery. There is no way to order from outside. I got the sliders fries and a sparkling water for $40. Outdoor seating is picnic tables no umbrellas. A QR code on the tables for ordering would have encouraged me to get the ice cream but I didn't want to leave my dog outside. read more

Super melty, miles-long cheese pull fresh mozzarella cheese. The BBQ chicken pizza has a nice sweet BBQ sauce, big chunks of tender chicken, bacon bits, red onions and some cilantro on top. We tried the meat lovers pizza, some lattes, kids breakfast sausage meal and all were delicious. We got there a tad earlier than the afternoon lunch rush and was able to beat the long line. Pizza is smaller than what we expected though. But next time we will order two pizzas. The scones are out of this world but I wish they didn't put the sugar on top. It's amazing as is without it. I tried to pick it off with a butter knife but no success with that. They have plenty of seating outside in the shade as well. It got very hot for us sitting in the sun rays inside. Beautiful space and plenty of parking across the street too. The bathroom could have been cleaner when I went in there. This area is kind of far away from everything else in Alameda but it has nice bike trails, views of the ships nearby , pickleball courts at the gym across the street. I love the ambiance of this location, it's not too busy on the weekdays. Perfect spot to grab a coffee and work. It's a small cafe storefront with a large industrial bakery in the back. You can get hints of freshly baked breads from time to time. The aroma is delicious. I love their chocolate croissants and morning buns. They serve a great lunch menu as well. They have bread/pastries as well as food items. If you order a food item (pizza, sandwich, etc), be prepared to wait while they prepare the food! I often struggle to find pastries that aren't overly sweetened, but found a few favorites here that meet my personal taste. My favorites are the Ube Latte, espresso buckwheat cookie, and the matcha croissant. The Ube latte isn't too sweet and has a really nice Ube flavor that stands out. The espresso buckwheat cookie has a really strong coffee/espresso flavor, so it isn't overwhelmingly sweet. Lastly, the matcha croissant is flaky with a silky matcha filling. The matcha actually stands out in this croissant. Matcha in itself is bitter, but they added the right amount of sweetness to balance out the bitterness. The items that I got did not disappoint, but I'll be back to try so meal items like their sandwiches and pizza. read more

I had brunch here with some friends over the weekend and it took 30 minutes to get our food even though they told us it would be a 15 minute wait. But another friend's food took a whole hour. The spicy chicken sandwich was not edible- I love spicy food but this wasn't even a nice spice. They had several spots for EV or low emissions vehicles but most folks ignored that. That's not the businesses fault, though something to be aware of if you have personal mobility issues. However there is a larger lot across the street. The coffee was okay, not bad though I wouldn't make a trip specifically for the coffee (given the location). read more

This place was okay. The line was huge which was expected on a Saturday morning. It moved pretty quick and although there was a 15 min wait for food posted, the food came quicker. The staff were friendly. The food was nothing special for the amount of people in this place. Also, something I disliked was that single people would hog tables meant to seat 4. I've seen other coffee shops post signs on the tables with minimum people required to sit. This coffee shop would benefit from those signs:) read more

I was pretty underwhelmed with our experience. Maybe it was because I'd been wanting to come here for months or the fact that there's always a long line, but I really expected more. We got there early on a Sunday morning and there was already a full crowd at the picnic tables. We snagged an indoor table but it was still pretty packed so we split the other end with another family. The pastries and bread all looked and smelled great. We went for a savory pretzel and the lemon curd French toast. Um. That pretzel round was just like a plain roll with a bit of salt. Not really a crunchy exterior or anything pretzel like. I thought the hot food would be better. At least it came out in the quoted 15 minutes. But MAN it was way too sweet and the croissant bread was burnt on the ends so it just wasn't doing it. Ritual coffee is good. Stick with a drip because the lattes have too much milk, as evidenced by our mocha and matcha latte. My stomach was not happy afterwards. So I'm glad I finally tried it. Great place to come on a weekend morning with the family! Yummy pastries for breakfast or midafternoon! Space is amazingly sprawled out with a fun game of connect four outdoors with lots of picnic tables for large groups to come and congregate. My sister and I ordered the savory kouign amann and an espresso buckwheat cookie to share as well as some drinks. The kouign amann was really delicious super flaky and soft and I think if I had reheated it a bit at home it would've been perfect. The cookie was good but it wasn't the best cookie I've had, probably wouldn't order again. I also got a maple latte and it was pretty good too, a solid latte. My sister got the ube latte and said it was just okay, which I agree, because there wasn't much ube flavor and wasn't that sweet either. Firebrand Artisan Breads is honestly really good. I mean, I wasn't sure what the hype was about when it came to wood-fired ovens, but it really is indeed very good. I had heard about this place when it soft opened through multiple channels -- my brother, the internet, and had to come try this out as I love bakeries and desserts. I came here during their grand opening on 6/21 Weds 10:30AM and boy, let me tell you, there was only 1 spot in their parking lot. Crazy right? The Cashier had just said the parking lot was first come first serve when I mentioned how full it was. I guess that's normal. I had already picked out what I wanted to try beforehand (see menu), and I'm glad I did. They had a lot of choices. I ordered the: - Matcha Croissant - AMAZING. I love how they intertwined the flavor. This is coming from a die-hard Matcha Fan who drinks Matcha everyday, and loves Matcha desserts. They had Matcha glazing on the outside, and Matcha filling on the inside, which I LOVED. It gave the croissant this nice burst of flavor which was not savory or sweet (through closer on the sweet side I would say). Would buy again. - Pretzel Bomb - The Cashier's recommendations. I was going to order the Goat Cheese Pretzel but she had said she preferred this, so I wanted to try it. It was OK. Getting the Goat Cheese next time. - Morning Bun - Standard but very good. Huge.
