When you're just coming into town after a long day on the road and needing some comfort food, I'd recommend calling Fired Up Pizza for some fresh pies. Ordered one of their Vesuvius and kids pies, side salad and everything was excellent. Service was attentive for the pickup and was out the door in about a minute. The hostess let us know it would be a 40 minute wait, however they sent us a text within 20 minutes that our table was ready. Irene. Who had lived here in Durango for a while, suggested we go there. Lively friendly atmosphere. Big pour on her red wine. Nice salads. Acceptable pizza. Not an OMG pizza, not a memorable can't-wait-to-come-back pizza, but it was fine for what it was (the house special with sausage, mushrooms and red pepper). With tax and tip, one pizza, two salads, one glass of wine: $70.26. I goofed. I ordered a salad and one of the salad dressing options was a lemon oil vinaigrette. But when I ordered it, I just specified lemon oil and left off the word vinaigrette. So they brought me a ramekin of lemon oil. I guess I should've flagged someone down to fix it but then again if someone had come around to see how our food was that would've been an opportunity to take care of it. I am a life time local in Durango. I have enjoyed Fired Up Pizza a long time , Yet now they jack up their prices so ridiculous that only tourists will still eat there. My friend and I ate there today. She ordered off the menu yet I custom ordered due to allergies. Come ON. $3.50 to add basil, $ 4. to just have olive oil...etc. ... Come ON // with that and Two margaritas to cost $75.00 plus tip. The waitress was awesome. Food decent , yet .. still not worth what they charge.... Are they thinking every one is a tourist and wants to pay these ridiculous prices for basic Pizza..??? No thank you. they lost many locals that could sustain them thru low tourism season... Shame on that place !!!! Think again, if they really want to sustain or go down with the rest of the restaurants that made that same mistake . Get a grip on your true locals sustaining your restaurant.... We will not be dinning there again until they get a clue.... Nice place with a great beer selection and pizza, salads and more. Service was good on a crowded night. Salad was fine. The problem? The pizza was just not that good. It was wood fired, supposedly. It did not taste like it. We've had lots of pizza in our life; in this case the crust tasted like frozen pizza and was not that crispy. What's odd is the oven was visible and seemed like a good one. August 24, 2024. Saturday. Lunch. Visited here on the advice of one of my wife's friends. We decided to sit outside as it was a lovely day in Durango. Molly, our server, attentively refilled our water and brought our cocktails out before the pizza. I ordered a Durango Smash cocktail ($13). This featured anejo tequila, agave nectar, fresh lemon juice and topped with Grand Mariner. It had a sour finish and I liked it on a warm day. Very refreshing. The pizza was called the Fired Up ($22.75). This came with roasted red bell peppers, fennel sausage, mushrooms and a margherita base. As they were making the pizza I walked to the back bathroom. The kitchen folks aren't wearing hair nets or beard masks. They seemed a little "loose" with the hygiene back there. This came into play when I ate my pizza. The pizza came with large expanses of no toppings at all, just sauce. The last slice of pizza had a long brown hair baked into it. Neither my wife nor I have long brown hair! This made me sick to my stomach as I had previously removed a small hair from another slice I thought was my own. I told Molly and she comped that pizza, but damage was already done. We will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Wonderful outdoor patio, delicious pizza, appetizers and drinks were delicious. Our service was okay - it was the 4th of July so we knew it would be busy. We weren't checked on very often. They are dog friendly, but on the patio only we had to walk up to the podium twice in 30 minutes to check on an available table since we saw one open for quite some time and they were like, "oh you can take that one!" But they wouldn't have sat us if we didn't ask, so that was strange even though we were on the waitlist/with a dog. But this was by far the best meal we had all weekend! We stopped here after the round trip train ride to Silverton. I like pizza but am very picky. The pizza was delicious!! We ordered the meat special. Next time I would ask for crispy crust. It was good, not too soft on the bottom, but I like a crispy bottom. I did need to support the tip of my slices with my fork but just the very tip. The arugula salad was delicious!! The service and atmosphere were great. The chairs are super uncomfortable though. If you're a woman over size 10, ask for a bench seat (half booth) or sit outside. We were planning to ho back again the next day but never made it back to Durango. It will be a definite stop on future visits. read more

After a LONG day at Mesa Verde National Park, this spot was exactly what we needed! Phenomenal pizza and salads; I got a small Caesar and it was absolutely above average, and my wood fired pizza was cooked perfectly. Thin and crunchy under crust with a soft, breadstick-like outer crust. Ingredients tasted fresh, and drink selection was excellent. We ordered a custom pizza with minced garlic, jalapeños and green chilis with a mix of mozzarella and green chili Gouda cheese. The crust was thin, tender, and had beautifully bubbled crust!
