What an amazing family owned restaurant! The buffalo chicken pizza is absolutely delicious (according to my carnivore partner!). I'm a vegetarian so I went nuts over their veggie pizza and the cream cheese dough dessert! Every staff member was super friendly and we loved their PourMyBeer beverage wall! They do have wine on their self-pour taps but are mostly focused on beers, which we very much enjoyed! We ordered 2 pizzas and some wings for delivery last night for the first time from Happy Pappy's Pizza and Wings. We were very pleased that the food was delivered on time and hot, but that's where our happiness ended. I tipped the driver $10 and started inside when I opened my wife's pizza box and noticed a favorite topping missing. I caught the driver before leaving and advised her of the order and how disappointed my wife was going to be that the order wasn't right for our very first time eating here. The driver offered to go get another pizza--one prepared according to our order. I insisted she take the poorly prepared pizza with her but she insisted I take it and she would return shorty. What happened next changed my mind completely about ever eating at Happy Pappy's ever again. A few minutes after the driver left I received a phone call from a man at Happy Pappy's inquiring about the delivery. I told him about our experience and dissatisfaction. He asked what he could do to make things right so we would be happy. So, since dinner time had now passed and my wife was no longer interested in another pizza, I told the man he could refund the money we paid for a pizza that wasn't prepared according to our order. And, as they say, is when the fight started. The man said he would be happy to refund the cost of the jalapeño--$2.50--but he thought it unreasonable to refund the cost of the pizza. Now, I'm really regretting calling Happy Pappy's and I certainly regretted tipping the driver $10. My reply to the man's comment was if he didn't refund the cost of a poorly prepared pizza, this would be our last time to buy pizza from Happy Pappy's. His decision was to forever lose our business so we will not be ordering from Happy Pappy's ever again. Besides the lousy service for a problem Happy Pappy's created to begin with, the pizza dough on the first pizza was chewy and the marinara sauce wasn't very tasty. So, we threw most of it away. With the tip, we were out over $60 for 2 pizzas and 10 wings. Were definitely returning to Papa Murphy's the next time we ordered pizza. I hope it was worth it, Happy Pappy's. Bye! read more

So we got wings at another place in Durango and they were outstanding but we were told that if we liked those, we should try Happy Pappy's. I know Happy Pappy's is a pizza place but I was on a wing kick. So I ordered 10 garlic-parm and 10 regular buffalo wings to go. When i walked in the place, it smelled divine! The inside is small and looks just like you would expect a pizza parlor to look. The Wings were done about 20 minutes after i ordered and did not disappoint. Once you bite into these wings you can tell that they are different as they have a nice smokey flavor from being smoked. They were perfectly sauced and had a ton of meat on them. My family killed all the wings in no time. For a nice added bonus, they came with 4 complimentary breadsticks. The breadsticks were a nice surprise and went well with the wings. I highly recommend this place. The staff was also courteous and thoughtful as i had left by debit card there and 1 minute after i left, the staff called me to let me know that i had left my card. I am VERY happy to update this review. While their team is young, it's clear the management (Pappy - which I learned is a nickname given to him by his two adopted daughters who weren't sure what they should call him when they joined the family) has been on top of things since my last review. The drink wall is working, and is actually more affordable than I initially thought. I had a ginger basil seltzer and it was great - not that they make the beverages - but the pour wall worked intuitively and I appreciated how easy it was. And more importantly, the pizza has drastically improved. I never doubted their dough, it's always been the highlight, but everything else fell short in the previous times I tried their stuff. I can't report on the wings because I haven't had them since, but their pie is much much better. This is the second time I've had it since I last posted and this is their best looking 'za yet. I posted a picture of it just to drive that point home. I think there is still room for improvement in the sauce (it's easy to make your own, but I understand that it's not always possible in fast casual places like this), but it doesn't ruin the taste by any means. Like I said in my initial review, I knew this place had potential. They just needed to dial in their operation, get some marketing going to learn more about their demographic's needs here in Durango, and act accordingly. It's clear that my initial impression of "Grumpy Pumpy" must have been the result of a couple frustrating days upon opening, which is understansable and expected. Pappy is actually a delight to speak to and we're happy to have him, his family, and their business in the neighborhood. read more

We came from California (Bay Area) to visit a family member in a nearby town. After a long day in the snow, we decided to look for a pizza place that looked delicious. We came across several places and the photos of the pizzas were just not doing it. We found this gem and decided to give it a shot. The young lady on the phone taking the order was very friendly and nice. The pizzas were ready in 15 minutes. These were probably one of the best pizzas we had. They surpassed New Yorks thin crusted pizza. The breadsticks were also incredible. We will be back the next time we visit Durango. read more

We ordered 2 pizzas and wings from Happy Pappy's and were excited to try it as friends said it was new to the area. I don't find pizza hard to mess up, however, this pizza was subpar. The pizza wasn't good and I didn't want more than one piece. I have no intention of returning to this place. I'm not really sure what else to say other than try a different pizza spot or make it at home if you want pizza. We cooked wings at home that were better than the wings from Happy Pappy's Pizza n Wings. The wings from Happy Pappy's need to be more crispy whether that means they need some time to broil or be fried. The wings would be a lot better if they were crispy on the outside. read more
