What is going on here?!? I have enjoyed coming here for years now and have even enjoyed the new location in Sparks but as of late something here has really been off. The last few times I have come to this location something has managed to go wrong. The previous times it was mainly service related and I'm not the one to complain about places which normally do a solid job but after a couple of consecutive poor experiences and the today's I had to share/vent! I called in an order for pick up for my brother and I. I told the gentleman on the phone I was calling it in because we were in a bit of a hurry. My brother wanted a medium Grilled Chicken on white, and I the new Spicy Cajun Chicken on white also medium. The gentleman on the phone said they didn't have any mediums breads left and we would have to get a large or small. Said no problem and made it a large. Then he went on to say they didn't have any white larges and would have to make them wheat. We we went from white-mediums to large-wheat's. Once again, said no problem and placed the order. 20 minutes later we made it to the restaurant to pick up the sandwiches and we get told that "There is a problem with your order and that problem is that we are all out of chicken." Really?! When I placed an order, the person told me a number of different breads and sizes they were out of but forgot to tell me they were also out of chicken? How can a sandwich place be so ill prepared for lunch? Further more how do you not call someone back and tell them that their Grilled CHICKEN and Spicy Cajun CHICKEN sandwiches wont be made because they don't have the single most important ingredient CHICKEN hahaha. Wasn't offered any sort of customer service, was simply told to order something different. I honestly had lost my mood for a Firehouse sub at that point anyways so we choose to go else where instead. Very disappointing, I don't know what the deal is right now with this location but I hope management gets it together I would hate to stop coming here. read more

I came here with some coworkers for a quick lunch today and I must say I dont think I'll ever step into a subway again! I tried the Hero sandwich and it was so good, fresh, and filling! The prices are definitely worth it! While we were eating one of the staff came over and asked if we needed anything and was so friendly! You would t get that at other sandwich places. Yesterday was my first stop at Firehouse. My husband and mother in law work in Carson and make their affection for this place known. First off, the atmosphere is very cool. Love the FF vibe and decorations. I arrived a little after 12 and the place was packed, only one table top open, everyone must have Oregon because there was no line at the register. I was tinkering between two sandwich choices and asked the lady at the register what her preference was and she hadn't tried them. But, she was able to tell me what was a more popular order so I went with the small cheesesteak and "made it feisty" which means added cherry peppers and banana peppers. I opted in for mushrooms as well. I saw they had a sauce rack with dozens of sauces labeled 1-4 for spiciness. Then we waited, probably close to 20 minutes- which was unexpected for a place with a drive thru. When my sandwich arrived, it was good. Not great. Capriottis does a much better cheese steak sandwich. Sadly it wasn't spicy at all so next time I'll get it "feisty" and "firey." The bottom of my sandwich felt dry, and if I wasn't so hungry to eat right away I think exploring the sauce shelf would have been a good idea. They have one of those "make your own" Coca-Cola fountain machines. The staff was great, they actively check in on dining customers, bus trash and are always productive and friendly. Placed large order through the firehouse app. 1. Set pick up time for 5:30. Receipt came back to pick up at 6:30 so I had to call. The guy that answered said it was on his end at 5:30. Ok. 2. All sandwiches were normal except one that had some items removed. The receipt showed these items still there. Called again and the guy said they showed removed on his end. Ok. 3. Picked up sandwiches and the special sandwich was not special and items asked to be removed were not. Urg, even after I verified. Final straw, missing my chili, not going back for one chili, but when I called the guy said all he could do was write down my name and give me a free chili next time I come in. I had an opportunity to try Firehouse Subs for free, since their app offered me a free birthday sub. I cruised in on a Tuesday for lunch. The restaurant was clean, well staffed and I was greeted heartily the moment I entered. I placed an order of the Beef Brisket and Cheddar BBQ Sub, and also got a lemon/white chocolate cookie with a Coke. The sandwich was very well prepared, the staff is obviously well-trained and takes pride in presentation. Either that or the just CARE about the total dining experience. That was refreshing. The cookie was SO GOOD, omg drool. There are the reasons for the stars. The sandwich was not so good. It had nothing to do with the bread, it was delicious and perfectly toasted. The Barbecue sauce is a family favorite, but mixed with mayonnaise - I'm not quite sure how to experience that. Plus, the meat was ENTIRELY questionable. It was thinner than the 'Anerica's' competitor (however possible, I don't know!) And it was kind of tri-color. Almost like the meat was engineered to resemble actual brisket with burnt ends and fatty strips. But it was PAPER THIN, and almost had the flavor of what I imagine Alpo dog food might taste like. I was absolutely relieved that I received this 'Alpo Brisket' for free because I'd have been seriously disappointed had I paid the standard 8.29 for that mess. Again, great staff. I'd never been before. My co-worker said stop there and he would get something too. I'm always up for a new experience so I stopped there on the way out to the jobsite. They have a bunch of different sandwiches and I chose the Club one. Lot's of good meat and it was steamed. The whole place had a haze of steam. Not sure if this was intentional or not, but it sure was a unique experience! The service was decidedly not Subway style. Just order it up and pick it up at the counter. No visuals while your sandwich is made. They have a super coke machine here. I've cut sodas pretty much completely out of my diet, but they still have carbonated waters and stuff. Chips were standard Lays and some other fancy brand type. I'm sure soon they will be landing in Reno somewhere since they are a chain. Now, on to firehouse. Oh Firehouse, how I have missed thee since I moved to Reno. They're conveniently located in multiple places in Tampa, FL so whenever there is a craving they were always conveniently around the corner (and trust me once you try them, you WILL endure this craving). After moving here, and realizing that the closest Firehouse at the time was close to Roseville, CA, I realized that the convenience that I have once taken for granted was no longer. However, once I caught a whiff about this franchise having a location in Carson... I went THAT DAY..... THAT HOUR... I can always count on walking into any Firehouse location and getting the same sandwich, the same steamed-melt-in-your-mouth, scrumptious sandwich that I could find in Florida, Georgia, California, and any other location that I might find myself walking into. They just make some darn-good steamed sandwiches that can't be beat. This location clearly did not disappoint, and I highly suggest that if you haven't tried a steamed sandwich, to put it on your bucket list ASAP! read more

I want a Firehouse Subs in RENO! Whilst in Carson this past weekend for work my boyfriend suggested Firehouse Subs. I'd never been so I agreed to try them out. Suuuuper cute. They did a great job on branding. I regret not taking any photos so I'll try to build a visual. You walk in and everything is RED. It's kind of like you are in an actual fire station with a built in sub making area. Tables are red, chairs are red, most of the walls are red. Floor is black and white checkers. They have a fire hydrant at the entrance, Dalmatian dog touches here and there. Seriously, the only thing the place is missing is a fire pole. All of the sandwiches are fireman themed with cute names and they all sounded soooooo amazing. We both tried the bacon ranch sub and it was very tasty. The customer service was great and the sandwich was fresh. Prices are affordable. It was a fun experience and I'd go over and over if they came to Reno. Top 5 in favorite sandwich land.
