I am not a fan of eating a sandwich out. I am however, I fan of Firehouse. I am thrilled they are putting one in 1890 Ranch in Cedar Park! Their meals are a little pricey, but worth it. I usually get the Hook and Ladder which is not only tasty, it's not bad for the waistline either if you get no mayo (props to them for having their Nutritional Info available online.) The ingredients are always fresh and good quality and they have a huge selection of hot sauces to try! I think last time I went I tried about 10 different ones, just because they are there. The food is average and so is the service. I don't like that sometimes I come in and my sandwich comes out steaming hot and sometimes it comes our just lukewarm. Called to ask if I needed to order a catering box in advance and was told no, I could come in anytime and they would make it. Soooo... went in and ordered a box . They said it would take a hour. Then a hour and a half later I have my order. Hour and a half for 6 sandwiches. That is crazy! I have gotten sandwiches from this location for years and will not be back!!! This review would be higher if I didn't watch while the girl preparing my sandwich dropped 1/2 of the meat into the sink while draining, then stretched the remaining 1/2 onto my sandwich instead of getting more meat to fill the rest of it. I expect more from a business that charges $10 for JUST a sandwich, NOT including any side or drink. Also, not to mention they messed up the only thing I ordered. Went here one evening when I just didn't feel like going to Freddy's Frozen Custard that's 2-3 doors down. The sandwich was really good, the meat was really nice, but for the price it still seemed a little pricey. There wasn't anyone there but there seemed to be about 12 employees milling around which was a little strange. All in all, good sandwich and I would go there again. read more

Started going here again after several years of saying "Meh, I'll pass." The speed and quality seems to have improved - I've gotten acknowledged each time I've come in the door, and their custom drinks are fantastic (especially the peach Mello Yello). This place takes their food preparation very seriously. I ordered a sandwich without onion because I'm allergic to them. And the man making it made sure nothing that went on my sandwich was near onions. He got fresh gloves and spatulas and knifes to ensure nothing that touched my food. The first time I tried this place, I fell in love. Honestly, everything here is good, at least from what I've tried. Would recommend ANY AND EVERYTHING on this menu. Also, Tammy deserves a lot of credit. Every time we're there, she greets us with a smile, a compliment, and some casual banter. As soon as you walk into the sub shop you are immediately greeted by folks making the subs. I decided to order my favorite "Basic" sandwich that I use as a benchmark at all sandwich shops...Roast Beef with provolone and black pepper. I want to taste the flavor of the meat and quality of the cheese. So how did Firehouse Subs do? 1. Great Customer Service 2. Quick Service 3. Plenty of beverages to choose from (Fountain and Refrigerated) 4. The sub was tasty and the cheese was great. It is one of the best subs I have had in Austin. Definitely better than Jersey Mike's and the Roast Beef has a better flavor than Thunderclouds. I will definitely be back to try their cold subs and some of their specialty/favorites. read more

We have finally found a sub sandwich worth waiting line for! My wife and I go to Firehouse regularly and are never disappointed with their subs. They give you lots of meat, sandwiches are extra large, and have a large variety of hot sauces that are an added taste treat. Had to stand in line a little while and looks like they need to add more staff to handle the volume but thats a problem most businesses would like to have these days. They have a kids eat free day (give out free toy firehats)and are very conscious of how they treat us when we come in. They give us a hearty greeting and welcome when we come in. Highly recommended to anyone in the area that wants a good meal. read more

Mandatory must wear a mask on entrance door and there were 2 customers without mask in the store and the manager and staff did nothing. Did not tell them to leave and waited on them while all the other customers had mask on. Told the manager how disappointed I was and the manager said nothing. Yes, Firehouse is a little pricier than Subway, but dang is it worth the extra few dollars. The sandwiches are HUGE and the ingredients taste fresher and higher quality than other sub shops. My favorite is the Engineer but my boyfriend tried the Hawaiian Pulled Pork special (I got a bite) and it was smokey, sloppy goodness on a giant Hawaiian role bun. Firehouse is my go-to sandwich place. I'm hungry just thinking about it. read more

Normally, if I eat Firehouse my husband picks it up for us on his way home from work. But twice I've gone to get sandwiches there and both times had subpar experiences. The first time, I wasn't sure what my husband usually ordered for me so I asked the cashier lady's advice. I tried to describe the sandwich, and she just sort of apathetically pointed to the menu like why don't I look there instead of bugging her with my questions. She said something like "order whatever you want." It took me off guard because typically in restaurants employees enjoy talking about the menu or making recommendations but this woman just wanted me to order and not involve her. I understand that but it was a little disappointing. It was just the overall attitude that wasn't very friendly or customer-service oriented. The next time I went in was worse. When I got to the register, I ordered two of the same sandwich, one for me and one for my husband. I couldn't remember the name of the sandwich at first, so I might have paused between saying the word "two" and the name of the sub. Regardless, when they called my name with my order there was only one sandwich. That's okay, honest mistake, right? So I went back up and politely told the gentleman making the sandwiches (who was not the same guy who took my order) I was still waiting on a sandwich. He then emphatically, in my opinion, rudely said, "YOU ONLY ORDERED ONE." Again, he wasn't even the person who took my order, although he had been standing nearby. Most places, even if they thought the customer made a mistake, would have apologized for the misunderstanding and went ahead and made the other sandwich (which I was fully prepared to pay for, of course!). However, this Firehouse guy told me to go to the back of the line (which was about ten people deep again) and order another sandwich. Seriously. I'm in the customer service field and this kind of attitude towards customers (even if they are wrong.. which I wasn't... but that is beside the point) is unacceptable. I really hate that 100% of my experiences with their employees have been bad because their sandwiches are good compared to somewhere like Subway or fast food, and I live so close to this place. My husband doesn't seem to have these issues, so I still eat the Firehouse subs he brings home. :) read more

So my husband and I have been on a sub kick lately and Fire House Subs is one of our favorite sub shops. But this weekend when we stopped in for lunch our sandwiches were TINY....TINY!! We paid extra to have mushrooms on his sandwich and they were left off too. We will definitely give FHS another try but probably a different location. read more

Ordered a pastrami and it didn't even resemble pastrami. Ordered a few sandwiches and they were all of such an incredibly low quality meat that I took pictures and sent them to my mates in Europe because I knew they would get a good laugh from it. Better off making a sandwich yourself. I wouldn't even eat the meat because it was of such poor quality. You can fix a lot in a sandwich but a sandwich will always suck if the core ingredient is rubbish. This place is rubbish for people who don't know any better. read more

When you walk in the door to Firehouse Subs you are immediately greeted by several shouts of "welcome" from the staff. The decor is casual, firehouse theme. The subs are all steamed. The counter contains about 100 bottles of hot sauce, ranged from the mild to the lethal. This place is always full of people who chose to eat here instead of right across the street at another sub chain. I recommend the Steamer and the Meatball. Actually I have yet to try anything that isn't first rate. This is a chain based in Florida, but at the moment this is their only shop in Austin. And it beats all other sandwich chains in Austin hands-down. There's a reason the place is always packed. It's time to expand! Austin needs more Firehouse! read more

BAD service! I was the only one ordering and there were no customers waiting but the lady rushed me and did not even explain what to expect on my sub in spite of asking her twice ! She ringed the order wrong and upon asking to redo it, she handed me a "free" drink instead!! Not that great of an experience eating here. The place is not big enough to accommodate large groups of people and you were crowded while you sit down and eat. The people working here act like they are annoyed when they take your order. The food is bland with a very mediocre taste. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and a bowl of chili. The sandwich tasted horrible and it was soggy. The chili tasted terrible and I can honestly say eating chili out of a can would taste better than this chilli. Mediocre over-priced food served up by employees with bad "chip on the shoulder" attitudes, especially the heavy set gal with the bitter betty complex. Just went for my third and final time, won't be back. Bad attitude translates into poorly prepared food and that is exactly what we received 3 different times at this location. Nothing turns me off from a place quicker than bad attitudes... If you don't like the fact that your working fast food, IMPROVE your situation... don't vent your grief on innocent customers that are paying your salary. We now drive all the way to McNeil drive when we are craving Firehouse, which is rare these days with Which Which nearby. I find these 5-star reviews for this location HIGHLY suspect..... either they are really really old visits or friends or family of employees of this location. Don't waste your time and money. Undoubtedly they have the best sandwiches. Last week i was here and ordered #8 The engineer on white bread. Bread was very soft and fresh. Pile high turkey with bubbly cheese from there steamers. The service there is awesome. One of my favorite places to eat. Folks are quick, cheerful, professional and the taste of every sandwich I have ever eaten has surpassed its match. Its better if you call your order ahead because if you do, you don't have to worry about the lunch time rush.
