I really hate to say this, but, Firehouse Subs, in general, is in need of a major overhaul. This is the second new location, in as many months, that I have tried and been totally unsatisfied. Staff gives the feel that they are annoyed that they need to interact with you. The order taker/cashier was ok, but either he entered the order incorrect or it was just made incorrect. I ordered the Italian with NO TOMATO and NO MAYO....add Bell Pepper and add Banana Pepper. Got this order to go along with what my GF ordered. 20 minutes later (yes 20 minutes) our order was packaged and ready to go. Should point out that there was one person in front of us that got one sandwich to eat there and there were 4 employees working....not really sure what took so long. Anyway, drive home and open up the package and get ready to dive into the Italian sandwich to find it smothered in mayo and tomato. This place is far too expensive for a sandwich to not be made correctly. Very disappointed, and to be honest as I write this review I find myself leaning towards one star overall, but will leave it at two stars since a % of the proceeds from each sale goes to support firefighters. That being said, I think I would make actual donations and go find food somewhere I liked as opposed to eating here again. Slow,,,,Inaccurate...,Unfriendly....three strikes, you're out!

Really more like a 3.5, FWIW…read more Took a lil roadtrip out to Athens with my folks on a day off last week. We wanted to try this place. Since it is in the main part of downtown, super close parking is a bit of a big ask; we parked at a public government building about two blocks down and walked over. The inside is very small and only has a couple of two-seater tables and one bench setup, but there are multiple nice metal tables outside to sit at if the weather is good. Fortunately, we lucked out in that regard, as it was a nice day. The inside of the restaurant smelled absolutely amazing, so I was excited to order. Their lunch menu mostly consists of sandwiches and burgers, with limited sides like chips, broccoli salad, soup of the day, and so on. Bottled drinks and a couple of desserts round it all out. My parents split a Philly cheese steak sandwich with pasta salad; I got a chicken cheese steak with a cup of the soup of the day (potato), and we shared a slice of strawberry pretzel salad for dessert! The employees were nice enough to bring our food out to us while we were at a metal table on the patio, so that was sweet. Food came out relatively quickly and was definitely fresh. Overall, it was fine! My favorite thing was probably the strawberry pretzel salad; I wish I'd had a little more but I should've ordered my own portion! lol. The potato soup had really nice garlicky croutons on top that I enjoyed, though I wish there'd been bigger chunks of potato in it. I liked my chicken Philly just fine though I feel like it was missing some sort of flavor somewhere. My parents felt the same about their regular Philly. Unlike me, though, my mom unfortunately got several gristley bits she had to spit out. The chicken didn't have that same problem. Overall, a pleasant enough experience though I wouldn't say our socks were knocked off, haha. I'd return and try other menu options if I come back in the future.

The sandwiches are always fresh and packed with flavor, and you can tell they actually care about the quality of what they're making. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff has always been super friendly when I come in. Places like this are the reason I like supporting local spots instead of big chains. If you're anywhere around Anniston and want a really good sandwich, this place is definitely worth stopping at. I'll keep coming back whenever I'm in town.

I am certain that if we had a big group he would have been more than happy to help accommodate us. If you haven't eaten here, you are missing out. Try the Reuben, best I ever had.
