I placed an online pickup order for a gluten free ham sub. I specifically checked "no pickle spear" while placing the order. (My daughter hates pickle.) The cost was $10.99 (gf bun surchage). My daughter was disappointed when she opened the sub and there was a pickle spear that got juices on half of the sub. She ate the half that didn't get the pickle juice, but the bun on the other half had absorbed the pickle juice flavor. I was irritated because I had said no pickle so our order was inaccurate. Many things I could just pick off and that would be that. But pickle juice is very strong and you can't just get rid of it. This was our first time trying Firehouse subs. I went back to my order and choose the "report a problem" option. I put in that my order was wrong as the issue. It offered me 1,100 points as a consolation and asked if I wanted to accept it. I went to their menu to see what 1,100 points would get - if it would have been half of the price of a medium sub I would have said yes! That would be fair. A medium sub is actually 12,000 points! So 1,100 is pretty measly. Heck, the lowest point item is a brownie or cookie for 4,000. So they basically offered me 1/4 of a cookie for my trouble. That's almost offensive. So I said no and escalated it. I did receive a response quickly. However, the response was vague and full of lip service. (Screenshot below.) I wasn't sure what to expect to happen next. I interpreted it as they would have someone contact me. After waiting 8 days and hearing nothing, I reached back out. I let them know I was disappointed that I hadn't heard anything. They gave me a similar (almost identical!), unhelpful response. I can't believe it's taken me this much effort to get fair compensation for an order that was incorrect. If they would have offered me 6,000 points at the very start I would have taken it. I'll never eat at Firehouse again based on the poor service. Mistakes I can understand. Not being willing to make it right is what frustrates me. At this point, I'm now not just angry about the lunch that my daughter couldn't eat all of but also angry about the about of time I've spent. At this point I think my only option is to go through the dispute process with my credit card company since Firehouse refuses to offer me acceptable compensation for their error. read more

Horrific service at Firehouse Subs in Gahanna. I don't think there is any reason why the service should be so bad. I went here on a Wednesday and there were three people working. I realized after I made my order that I wanted to sign up for the rewards program, I asked if I could get points for my order that night and was told no. I then go on the app and realize you can so I asked for a receipt. It took them 10 minutes to figure out how to get me a copy of my receipt. I was there for over 30 minutes waiting for my food to be made which was a small sandwich that should not have taken that long. If you're going here, they prioritize the drive through which I can't imagine being any better. The place is run by teenagers and they're clueless on customer service. I don't recommend this location. I'll be back to Firehouse subs just not in Gahanna. read more

We don't have a Firehouse Subs near me, so I got in the car and drove the ten minutes north on the highway to reach the nearest one. I've been so disappointed with everyone else's subs (Penn Station, Jersey Mike's, the pizza franchises), I thought what do I have to lose? I am happy I did though! Though it's a little bit on the expensive side ($15), I got the XL Hook & Ladder and, boy, it was very good! So loaded with toppings (unlike most other places), it definitely filled me up and not just with a lot of veggies- there was a ton of meat! I also liked the attention I got from the sufficiently staffed, clean, and well-appointed restaurant. I will return. read more

Firehouse has never been my first choice of sub places, but I was pleasantly surprised this time. I've been to other locations, once or twice. The subs are good, but they always seemed small, overpriced, and with slowwwwww service. This time, the size and price seemed reasonable (though the service was still slow.) Compared to, say, Jersey Mike's or Grinders, both doing similar hot subs, it seems like orders take forever. But, they've changed either their sizes or prices, because the value ratio is better than I remember. I got a large "New-York-whatever-their-cutesy-name-is," basically pastrami and brisket, with mustard and provolone. I should have added veggies, but it was good bread with tasty, tender meat. Plenty of it, but also room for something semi-healthy, so next time I will add tomatoes, lettuce, etc. It's plenty big. I also tried their chili, again a little overpriced but good quality and an okay portion. Thick, heavily seasoned (but not spicy,) lots of meat and beans. Sweetie got broccoli cheese soup and the bacon turkey ranch. She and Baby K shared. The place was clean, parking is decent. Still not my favorite, but I won't resist going back. read more

First time here at this store. It is essentially across from Gahanna Lincoln. We ordered a New York steamer. Nicely packaged in a recyclable container, it came with a crisp dill pickle spear and lots of napkins. The real surprise came with the first bite....ahhhhhh smoked meat. It was a third of the price of a sub we had in Salt Lake, with 5 times the meat and 100 times the enjoyment. With a few chips and a little homemade fruit salad, one sub easily fed two. I can see me getting a sub or two on the way to the airport. Fast, friendly and efficient service. I wish they were closer but the quality is good enough to go out of my way. Certainly not the usual chain subs. This is more like a specialty deli sub without the price. read more

To be honest, if you dine in it's a solid 3 stars as the ambiance is rather drab but the carryout is usually a 3.5 star experience. It's not a speedy in and out experience, presumably because they steam the meat but it still feels slower than expected. They have an ok menu size but not overflowing with options. First time at this establishment. Service was top notch, greeted immediately upon entering by all the staff and given personal options about there produce. We eventually settled on the cheese steak and the brisket 8" subs. Steak tasted awesome but was lacking in heartiness. The Gahanna location has the worst service. I placed my first and only order and will not be going back. The employees have no sense of urgency and could care less if orders are correct. They served us chili that looked like it was at least two days old and half filled the cup. My sons sandwich bun was so hard he could not eat his meal. I'm not a huge fan of Firehouse Subs, and it usually takes me going once a year to remind me of this, but thanks to Yelp, I'll forever have my last experience documented. Now, it's not the worst sub place I've ever been to, but in my opinion, it's only a notch above Subway. They even have the same 'bacon' strips that are thinner than a sheet of paper. I went with the Club this most recent time, and the toppings only took up about half of the 12" sub which rang up at $9 and a whopping 1500 calories. Damn. Expensive and terrible for you? I actually didn't feel too hot afterward, but maybe that's due to one of the hot sauces I experimented with. To me, Firehouse comes off as a confusing concept. I don't really get what's there to set them apart from a Subway (cheap, low cal), Jersey Mike's (fresh ingredients), or Penn Station (hot subs on sourdough). So what's Firehouse subs shtick? Hot sauces? It's ridiculous, because they just throw out a bunch of random hot sauces out there and expect it to make the sandwich better, but it's not like they're pairing it with the subs. I love hot sauce on my Italian subs thanks to Nardelli's on the East coast, but they use one sauce, and they know what it's good on. Anyway, this particular location isn't much different from the others minus the fact that it's on an incredibly busy intersection in Gahanna, and you're right across the street from all the Gahanna Lincoln kids getting lunch, so beware. There's a Jersey Mike's and a Penn Station up the street, not to mention Jordan's Deli. I'd recommend those first. read more

I went back to try them again, something I always try to do before I write off a place. I love firehouse subs but this place is a wreck. I was under the impression that management cares here but it turns out they couldn't possibly since nothing ever gets fixed. . My second time around there were so many issues that my food (even though I was 10 mins late to pick up) wasn't even made yet. When we finally got our food 20 mins later is was cold, soggy, and dried out beyond belief. I felt bad for the girl working behind the counter. She was so frazzled and stressed out since her crew wasn't working. The drive threw had a woman waiting for 20mins because they forgot they made her food and left it on the counter. There was this couple who got one sub and then (he ate it while his wife waited) waited 20mins since they forgot to make the other one. This place needs some SERIOUS TLC!!!! read more

I thought that the layout of the store was nice and the person who waited on me was nice enough but the food was just okay for me. Wow. I'm not sure what's not to like here. Had a very positive experience. Today is Labor Day and the place was PACKED. Kinda surreal. If all the negative reviews here are correct...why are SO many people in this place? If anything, they need more space! I ordered the Firehouse Meatball sub on wheat and it was DIVINE. Spicy marinara-oh ever so slightly, the amount of melted provolone was perfect (not dripping with it) and loved the fact that the bread was custom-engineered to HOLD the meatballs while devouring. It was steaming hot--the right temp for digging in. Husband got the "Engineer"--fully involved--and he made it disappear in record time. Service was fine, especially considering how crowded it was. I dunno, maybe I have a soft spot cuz my Dad was a Firefighter for 32 years of his life. Nah. It was really good and I will definitely go back! read more

I have been here several times and my work orders food from here as well. Their food always tastes great. My kids & husband love their subs as well. I love the little fireman hats that some with the kids meals (my kids love them too). I can see how someone said parking can be a challenge if they are busy.
