Don't know why this shop has an overall rating average of 3 stars (at the time of this review). I'm definitely giving it a 5. Tried it out for the first time today. It's nice to see that, even though people quickly reverted back to the pre-COVID way of living, Potbelly still had the social distancing markers up, with glass partitions between personnel and customers, as well as masks in use. The tables weren't sectioned off or sanitized after each use, so that part needs reactivation (if they intend to continue following protective protocols). On to the sandwich... I ordered a large "A Wreck" combo, their signature sandwich. I was lured in by the roast beef, turkey, ham and salami that I saw in the picture. To make sure I got the full experience, I ordered it with everything, having glanced at what 'everything' entails. Sat down with my chips and pop and carefully opened the package to make sure it was right-side-up for the photo, which I posted (I hate having to reconstruct a meal that I messed up in transport). Picked it up and took my first bite. That bread was just what the doctor ordered; firm, crunchy and well-toasted. It didn't contain anything noticeably different in terms of flavor, but it tasted great and held the sandwich together very well. It's also important to me that if I hold on to a sandwich for any particular length of time that the juices not "sog it out". Now the ingredients... "Hold on a minute. Woah. WOAH!!!!! What is this spicy kick? Waitaminute, it's getting stronger. TOO strong. Ok, this thing is spicy hot! What did I order?" I looked at the standing menu board at all of the extras that one can add to the sandwich. "Oh no, I thought that was GREEN peppers, not HOT peppers." Word to the wise, read the fine print, intensely. Not only did he add peppers, he LOADED the sandwich with them. In fact, it was too hot for me. I mean, hey, I'm married, old and had all the children I intend to have, but I'd still like to possess the ability to HAVE them. The only reason they didn't lose a "star" for that is because I got what I asked for. That was my fault. Unfortunately, even after I removed the peppers, I had to contend with the aftermath from the peppers being in contact with the sandwich's other contents. Still, the ingredients were fresh, cool and delicious. I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant and hope they open one close to me in the Reynoldsburg/Pickerington area. So yeah, give them a try and order the "A Wreck" sandwich. It doesn't disappoint. But be careful when adding your additional items. Don't just say, "give me the works"... ...unless you're a young, single adult who doesn't intend to have kids. read more

It is like meeting your X girl friend after 13 years. I was frequenting the Potbelly shop in Downtown Milwaukee back in 2009. After which I moved to the west coast and found out that Potbelly is not be found here. Visited my friends in Columbus, Oh, guess what, I saw Potbelly shops all over. Even though, I visited them couple of times past year, still couldnt find time to go to Potbelly. But this time, hell yeah, we found a shop thats open till 11pm and this shop in the downtown was the only one open that late. Drove from Polaris and reached there about 15 minutes before closure. The nostalgic feeling kicked as soon as I stepped in the place, great menu, fresh breads, variety of toppings to choose from, there was something magical about Potbelly sandwiches that I dont get in other shops. Well, the people who came me like whats the hype all about, why are you being so desperate to try this place, blah blah blah. After they tasted the sandwiches here, they did agree that it is one of the quality sandwiches they had so far. Thats good enough for me, its worth the wait and the ride from my friends place. The staff here even though were getting ready to wrap up the day and cleaning the shop for closure, were kind enough to make us feel not rushed and were happy to accommodate us to dine in. The place was kept very neat and clean and the lighting and the interiors were contemporary and cool. Great to visit this chain after a long time, will keep coming here as I see fit. read more

Complete cluster fubar. Busy? Sure. Perhaps they are worth the confusion, but for a first time order, first time customer, I won't be back. We placed an order, with complete contact info etc. after 60 minutes, a full 15 past scheduled pickup, they "couldn't find the order". However, they brought over a tablet with the entire order on it. Hmmmm. If payment didn't clear or there's a glitch in your system, That is why contact info is provided. Not 15 minutes after it's supposed to be picked up. So, we revisited the app & submitted another payment form. We confirmed the payment hit the bank & waited again. "Only see the first order that didn't go through." So we submitted the entire order again, and Shazam, we get to wait now, on every order that came in since ours was supposed to be picked up. Yeah, I will not be adding potbelly to my list of go-to's. They may mean well, but dropping the ball this largely doesn't instill confidence in future success. read more

I usually come for cookies alone since a) most of the time the line is too long for me to wait and b) their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies (in mini bags of 2 or 12 and as large individual cookies) are the softest (but not in the fall apart crumbly way) most delicious ones in Cbus. Today I got the BLTA (avocado) sandwich regular size on wheat. I held the lettuce. It was warm and the bacon was soft but had some nice crunchy spots. The avocado was dine and the tomato was goopy. Nothing to write home about. Recently (last month or two) I've noticed maybe they've hired more people but the service has been much more attentive. I hardly ever spend a few awkward minutes waiting for one of the now 3-4 people working to come to the register. read more

Potbelly's is a pretty average sandwich shop. I was not overly impressed with the food, but could eat it again. The service is not very consistent either. For a sandwich shop they have a pretty big menu. They need to improve the quality of their product. It has a pretty good selection of toppings. The sandwiches come in skinny or big sizes. I was hungry, so I ordered the big size. It's a pretty big sandwich, but there was a lack of quality for the price. The sandwich is about $5. It's cheap but that doesn't mean it has to suck. The bread was soggy and the vegetables tasted funky. I could give this another try sometime. I'm not in that much of a hurry to come back. I had to find a place that could make 700 sandwiches. Not only did I need the 700 sandwiches, I needed them in less than 24 hours. Easy order right? I called almost 30 different venues around the city. Of course they were going to say no! Who in their right mind would agree to making 700 subs over night? I didn't call potbelly's first because, frankly, I didn't know what it was. Potbelly's picked up the phone and didn't even flinch when I gave them the number. They simply said "I think we can take the whole order, let us call you back in five minutes." Expecting the worse, I answered the phone five minutes later to hear that they would pull bread from other stores and make it happen. This shop deserves five stars. Our company will only use Potbelly's from now on (Of course I will give them a week or more in advance next time). I cannot thank them enough though! read more

Wow, I guess I'm a Potbelly booster. We needed something quick but decent after a sweaty Sunday, so we swung by here. The place was clean, the service was fast and friendly. Also: free wifi... Sweetie had a turkey sub with bacon, and enjoyed it. I had a roast beef on their flatbread, chili, and potato salad. The sandwich was great- good meat, fresh veggies, good bread. The chili was my style: thick, meaty, full of flavor. The potato salad was pretty good, even though not my usual choice of styles: there was no mustard or egg that I could find. It was creamy, with perfect potatoes. I also had a fruit smoothie, which was decent but not great. This location is kinda out of our way normally, but it's nice to know it's here. read more

In the world of sandwiches the Earl is king, but we don't have those around here so Potbelly is the next best while Which Wich is a solid 3 and Subway is a 2. All other sandwich shops fall in between here and Subway. My go to is the turkey bacon BLT with the Italian coming in at a close second and the chicken cheddar third. The hot peppers are a must to any sandwich even if it's only a small bit and the applewood smoked bacon is off the hook. I am a big guy and I usually just get the regular size on the original bread and it fills me up without chips. The milkshakes and cookies especially are to die for, in fact the brownie chocolate chip may give you a heart attack because of how good it is. Subway has nothing on the cookies here. The restaurant is laid out pretty well to handle long lines without any congestion areas and when the lines get really long they move faster than any chipotle as they break out and iPad and start taking orders as soon as you walk in the door. So don't be scared of the line is out the door, it will move along very very fast, something other restaurants should take note of. Bonus: at lunch they often have live music featuring just a single local artist and a guitar. I don't know of any other sandwich shops that can claim that? My only complaint is the water cups are really small and I need to get at least two to make it through my meal. read more

I decided to try something new today, and since I've never had Potbelly I figured I'd give it a shot. I got "A Wreck", which has salami, roast beef, turkey, ham and Swiss. Well, mine didn't come with any Swiss which was disappointing ( I ordered it from Postmates and had it delivered to my office.) I also had them add mayo, oil and Italian seasoning. I wish I would've added peppers. It def needed some acidity. I really liked the bread, but the no cheese thing was a bummer. The meat didn't seem to be the highest of quality, but it was only five bucks so.... whatevs. If l go back I'd like to try one of the vegetarian sandwiches and see how that goes. Overall, not bad. Sandwich-making isn't rocket science. It is pretty simple. All you have to do is listen to the customer and follow instructions. I just went in to Potbelly and ordered a sandwich. I had a conversation with my sandwich maker where I told her that not only did I not want the suggested cheese that comes with the sandwich, but that I did not want any cheese at all. Somehow and somewhere between that conversation and the sandwich coming out of the oven, there was cheese all over it. I pointed this out and she rolled her eyes at me. She was completely unapologetic. My boyfriend had already paid for the sandwiches so I had no choice but to stand there and have to wait for them to remake it for me. And it was sloppy and poorly cut. I know that Potbelly probably cannot get better quality workers. I know that it's probably just college students who don't give a damn. But the very least Potbelly can do is to train their workers to be polite. I get so much better service at my local Subway. There, you can have a conversation with your sandwich maker and they still manage to make the sandwich correct the first time. And if even a mistake were to be made, they would be apologetic and fix it right away. I rarely go to Potbelly, and this is the reason why. Every time I go in there, it's an absolute disaster. The workers are rude and will complain that they have too many orders to help you. They tell you to place an online order instead of ordering in store which still takes them over 25 minutes to make. After waiting 25 minutes they give you the wrong sandwich and then blame it on being busy. Potbelly sandwiches are some of the best but they have lost a long time, loyal customer. That was the campus location, and recently they opened up this location on Olentangy. I pass by it several times a day, and it's less than 5 minutes from me. Well, last night I wanted to order something quick, but no delivery sounded good, and my girlfriend had never tried Potbelly, so I finally gave in. Twice in the past week have I been wrong about a place, and that's what happened last night. We both tried the Italian sub and really liked it a lot. The spices they add are great, and the ingredients are fresh. This location had great guy behind the counter that was extremely friendly and helpful.
