Went to firehouse subs today for lunch, I like their Italian sub, a lot. I ordered my sub and paid for and waited while it was being prepared. I observed the manager and another employee working in the preparation area making subs. The employee had his mask pulled down below his nose. I watched as the manager and employee interacted. The mask remained below his nose. I saw several orders being prepared by the employee and manager. I then walked back to the register and ask the manager to cancel my order and refund my purchase because of the employee preparing the suds did not have his mask over his nose. He walked over the employee and told him to cancel the order and returned my purchase price. The employee continued to prepare food with mask down. I my experience on the firehouselistens.com website and within 30 minutes received a call for the regional manager over the store. I was told that he had spoken to the manager at the store and he said that the employee's mask had slipped and they would be more attentive in the future. He said he was sorry it occurred and it was up to me if I returned. I told him the some coupons for my trouble would be nice and was told they don't make money giving away free food. I told him that I wouldn't go back and he said that was fine with him. read more

One of the better Firehouses I've been to. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. I ordered the Italian with a fountain drink and chips. The food was prepared quickly. My sub was a pretty good size considering how much I paid. It was hot and tasted great. read more

They food was good and nicely presented. The employees were not customer friendly. They said hello, and that's it. I found my food that I ordered, looked for utensils, and there was none. When I asked they got me them but refused to walk back to me. I had to walk to them and take them. The vibes seemed weird there. I don't know. The food is good though. read more

Soo...I normally love Fire House Subs. The steamy warm goodness is just right on certain days. Today is chilly and rainy and I traveled across town just for this treat. There was no music, no friendly welcome. The alarm system kept saying "side door entrance open" or something like that any time someone came in. But the sub was a hook and latter. Too sweet, not steamed, almost no cheese and not a lot of flavor. I was shocked on price...the kids sub..4 inches...with drink and chips...$8. I changed order for medium sub...$9.60. Wow! Stopped in today for lunch, ordered a salad and it was delivered in a timely manner. The salad was good and the service was adequate. However it does appear that the local for house sub shop is still going through some learning and training issues. I placed my order including a large tea, Received my order with a small tea. However I was not charged incorrectly. The individual that was with me ordered a sandwich, and a drink. Her saying sandwich included items that she had asked to be left off however, she just remove the items to keep from having to consider sending the sandwich back. This seems to be the normal here lately when we place an order as this is happened many times. I think that the local fire house subs needs to spend some additional training, especially on the cash register, or the intake person. read more

Normally we love this place. Today was our first bad visit. my wife ordered a sub with cherry peppers but they put jalapeños. They burned her mouth pretty bad. she's positive they were jalapeños. I asked about it but they insisted they were not jalapeños. i ordered a large steak and cheese. 4 inches of it was nothing but bread and sauce. Not cool. read more

Haven't been impressed with this firehouse lately I've always loved my fully involved hook n ladder but come on if you can't put a simple sub together with the right trainer teaching you then that trainer may need to be retrained on how to make it.. also read the instructions on the online order they left out the pickle spears had to go back in and ask for them and no napkins and gobs of Mayo on one of the subs no one wants to eat just Mayo.... so someone just needs to check on the ones making these subs and maybe this location will come back to a good quality sub location... read more

Stood alone in line with my wife. With two associates behind the counter and two at the Soda machine. No one said anything to us for a full three minutes or looked at us. The two behind the register were less than two feet from us. Currently waiting on food regretting spending any money in this establishment. Even if the food is spectacular (which I doubt, they all look angry that we interrupted their playtime) still will not make up for the poor customer service. read more

We stopped coming to this location. Love their food but not at this specific location! The manager ALWAYS has a poor attitude and an angry look. You can repeat your order back a few different times and still get it wrong. When you ask to have them fix it the manager acts like it's the end of the world and is so rude and demeaning towards you. We love firehouse subs however the service was absolutely horrible. It ruined our night, we wanted good tasty subs, we went in to order and the lady had a sour attitude, told us she was out of the meat we wanted and also they were out of medium lids. Worst Firehouse subs I've ever eaten at and I have eaten at quite a bit, since I usually enjoy their subs at least twice a week. I've had 2 subs there in the past week, both of which have made me extremely sick to my stomach. Their tomatoes were old but I'm not 100% sure that was it. To top it off their team members are completely incompetent and do not even know how their own reward system works. I ordered a smokehouse brisket on white and my boyfriend ordered an Italian sub on white they messed it them up three times each time then putting them on wheat including the final time. After being there for 45 minutes with no food and the third one coming out wrong I told the manager we didn't want them and refund our money. How hard is it to make a sub on white. Especially after I told them so many times on white. This does not compare to any of the other Firehouse Sub restaurants and I will never go to the one in Gastonia again. I came to eat at 8:15 and they close at 9:00. 45 minutes until close I didn't think was a big deal because it doesn't take me long to eat. First, I love Firehouse Subs. But I got a delivery order from them (Another DoorDash disaster) and got what I thought was as idiot-proof an order as humanly possible. But apparently I was giving people too much credit for having common sense. Perhaps as an engineer I assume people can read and follow basic instructions and that's just too obtuse. I ordered a large meatball sub hold the pickle spear. A medium meatball sub. And 4 chocolate chip cookies. That's it! Nothing complicated. Or at least I don't think so. I received a large meatball sub turned upside down (DoorDash not giving a crap) and a pickle spear mashed into my sandwich (Firehouse ignorance), a medium meatball sub turned upside down (DoorDash not giving a crap), and no cookies. Now I realize this isn't a major deal. But the food was all messed up and the missing items is just another example of how little people care about getting the simplest things right! It's the last straw for DoorDash. And it'll be a good while before I darken the doorway of Firehouse Subs. My dinner absolutely sucked. I paid $25 for a meal that I only ate because I was starving and exhausted. Otherwise I'd have driven to Firehouse to returned the food and demanded a refund. This is getting ridiculous. Getting a simple order correct can't be this difficult. I know a good portion falls on DoorDash. They're a joke. They could care less if your order is correct or not. But missing items and incorrect items falls on the restaurant. If doing business with DoorDash is causing your restaurant to have to actually think and follow directions on the order and you can't do that? You need to not do business with DoorDash. read more

Meh is the best way to describe Firehouse Subs. Several years ago this was a place I went often and then not so much recently, but we stopped in last week and had a disappointing experience. The soda machine seems to be broken all the time, because the employees were not surprised at all when I said that the machine showed it was out of all but three or four sodas. They had to reset the machine which took several minutes. I can't tell if Coke is just being cheap and making them stick with this junk machine or if maybe Firehouse is the cheap one and won't replace it. Either way, inconvenient for the customer and certainly irritating for the employee. The subs were just meh and previously had been very good, so maybe we hit an off night, but it will be a long time before we go back, based on our mediocre experience. read more

I LOVE firehouse. The steak and cheese is so good. Anytime I'm craving a good cheese steak, I come here. The employees are very nice (mostly) They usually smile and greet you when you walk in. This place beats any sub restaurant in my opinion. read more

Sooooo glad Firehouse is back in Gastonia! Meatball sub is the BEST in town and they have made it even better with a sweet & spicy version. Wife sticks with roast beef but loves it every time. Steamer makes their sandwiches the best! They have some interesting new choices too, so looking forward to trying those as well! read more

Quite disturbed by no team work, seems to be some kind of division with manager on call. Notice she was not very nice to many of the employees, rude, very intimidating, putting them down in front of customers. What can you expect working with someone as such. Maybe she was having a bad day. Will not ever step into a Firehouse Sub. Upper management is non existent. read more
