I'm a fan of Cook Out's burgers and chili dogs. The burgers always have fresh crisp lettuce. For me the lettuce, tomatoes, onion and a good bun makes an excellent burger. The chilli dogs remind me of Texas Wieners from my childhood days. Cook Out has the perfect recipe of chilli, cheese, mustard and onions on a soft hot dog bun. At one point this restaurant was a place I would go to on a weekly basis. I'm not sure what changed, but their prices skyrocketed, and their quantity and quality of food diminished. Since then, I've completely cut them as a food option and have avoided them for other places that are of better quality, quantity, value, and service. It's honestly a shame because at one point I considered them one of the best values in the area with the best customer service; however, that is no longer. read more

I am not surprised that lack of quality control is present across multiple locations. I have gotten 3 meals at 3 different locations in Gaston and Mecklenburg county and not of them have been correct. Does this failure constitute 3 strikes and your out. Latest burger was over cooked and extremely dry. Ordered onion rings and was given chicken wrap. The problem ranges from the wrong beverage twice on the same visit in Charlotte to wrong sides. read more

If I could give them a no star I would. I was totally insulted when I tried to place an order at the drive thru. I pulled in to cook out and notice that line was wrap around the building at 12/24/2019 between 12:30am. I finally got my turn to order... I made my order and then the man said could you repeat that I was thinking he could not hear me so I repeated it. I waited for 2min. Then again he ask me to repeat it a third time I repeated when I heard them laugh at the way I speak. I was insulted and made fun of. I then drove off. Went for a birthday milkshake with my husband on 9/17. It was about 1:30 AM and we were stopping on our way home after a night out. I usually love a cookout milkshake, but this time I was disgusted. I ordered a Reese's shake and when it came out it was double cupped. Wasn't sure why, until I took a bite and got a mouth full of styrofoam. I guess when it was being mixed, a hole was punctured into the bottom of the cup and instead of remaking it, they just double cupped it, leaving the styrofoam in the milkshake. Unfortunately I didn't realize until we were already back on the interstate headed home. But from previous experience the employees here are usually rude anyway. Everyone here needs to be retrained or fired and restaff the store. read more

Threw away our time and money. After a 25 minute wait, my chicken quesadilla was completely undercooked, barely warm, and the cheese was cold and still shredded, not at all melted. Husband ordered a honey mustard wrap with no cheese... we got cheese everywhere and were given the wrong wrap. Everything was cold and terrible. Milkshake is classically undrinkable because it isnt properly mixed so you can't sip it through the straw. Never ever again. We would have turned around and gotten a refund if we weren't behind on getting to our destination. read more

This shouldn't have been given out in the first place. I ordered a Cajun chicken ranch wrap and I get a little nugget with 4 pieces of tiny lettuce, all wrapped up in a cold stiff tortilla. Like you know that I paid for this right?? So unacceptable. This ain't even worth eating. I'll give this place a negative if I could. I've been disappointed by this specific location so many times but im now posting this about it because it's really unpleasant. read more

I'm done! I am done paying too much for crappy, thrown-together food! I worked fast food through high school, got paid a lot less than these fools, and still acted like a professional. Absolutely 100% HATE this Cookout. WORST ever attitudes by the person that took my order and HORRIBLE drive through service at the window. THIS IS WHY I I TRY MY BEST TO STICK TO THE ONE IN DENVER they are 1000% better! My fries are old and not hot nor are they crispy. I will NEVER come back here again. I will also be email the head office again. HORRIBLE customer service here. If you don't like the job get another one! My advice to Cookout is hire friendly upbeat people. They upped their prices for a tray to 7 dollars and they handed me my tray with no bag, i asked for ranch for fries and he only gave me one cup of ranch. I then proceeded to open up my tray after i left and they forgot my fries. I payed 7 dollars for a burger, ranch wrap and a tea. Waste of my money. Might as well not have gave me any ranch if you didn't give me any fries. read more

Not busy so idk how they couldn't t take 15 seconds to cook a quesadilla all the way and let the cheese melt and the cheddar bites were solid pieces of cheese no melt to them either!!!! I was ordering my food at 1:45 am and the black guy at the window was very rude when handing my food too quickly and gave a smart ass remark when he was impatiently handing my card back when he said hurry up and get this mother fucking card when handing my card back to me. I will not tolerate rude people, even if you're short handed. He got an attitude with my friend who earlier knocked on the window and asked if we could order there and had told us we he couldn't because they were short staffed. That's fine, I've been in fast food before but to be rude for no reason is why I will not be coming back here anytime soon! read more

Cook out came to the rescue! We arrived in Charlotte and were starving, but still in a rush to get to our final destination in Asheville. While we could've just as easily stopped for lackluster fast food á la Mickey D's, we came to realize that Cook Out is kind of a "thing" in these parts, so we gave it a shot. I like that you can build an interesting meal including sides like corn dogs. The burger was the winner here, so I'd recommend you go with that. Just some good old fried food for THOSE days (you know the ones I'm talking about!) read more

I've eaten at several Cook Out locations and this one isn't necessarily the best one. There have been a few issues with correct orders in the past. I recently visited and had a BBQ tray with a milk shake. Milk shake was made super quick and nearly melted by the time I received it. BBQ was ok but had leaked juice all over everything else in the tray. Just an average fast food restaurant to me. read more

Stopped in here on the way back home from Asheville because I was craving some French fried junk food. The line was long so I was hoping I'd hit French fry heaven. However this was NOT the case. I got the cheese fries and hushpuppies. The hushpuppies has a sweetness to them, but otherwise were very tasteless. I had to put ketchup on them to liven them up and even then I could only get a few down. The fries - while large cut were soggy and then the cheese - disgusting. It's defiantly the out of a can crap you find at ball games to pump out onto your hot dogs. Maybe this is OK for some, but yuck. Is it too hard to shred some real cheese to sprinkle on there? The shake was good. Very thick, but would I ever go back - nope! Plus the lady got our order wrong to start with ... which is never good when you have a trail of cars behind you! read more

I've never used the walk up window so this is from a drive thru only perspective. The bbq can sort of be a too spicy mush that you don't get sauce for, so generally speaking I pass on their bbq. Their burgers are okay but I usually like bacon on my burgers and their bacon while light years ahead of mcdonalds or bk is still undercooked and very pink so I pass on the burgers too. I only had their chili cheese fries a few times because I prefer REAL cheese (shredded, not Velveeta ejaculate). I get their quesadillas in a cook out tray, I order them plain cheese without the (very spicy for my tastes) queso sauce. Sometimes they get this right. The order accuracy is pretty hit or miss and seems to be independent of if they're busy or not. The shakes are pretty good and their sweet tea is the best! The only true gripe I have with this place is they no longer use bags, so if you have a order for more than one person or need condiments it gets tricky to carry all that in one go. And because they no longer use bags to give your food to you, you'll never get a condiment unless you ask for it. read more

The service has been inconsistent but mostly bad. Orders have wrong but have been hoping they turn it around. Instead it has not and food quality has decreased. I ordered food for five people and 4 of them want honey mustard source. First I had to ask for it then when I ask for it I got only 2 so I said can I have 2 more and she then hands me 1 more. I'm not sure what is going on but not a very enjoyable service. read more

Ordered 2 Cajun chicken sandwich trays with and two drinks... The order wasn't 100% correct, but i can get over that.. The experience wasn't the best while waiting for my order.... I could hear screaming/yelling Over the mic while my order was being taken (which made my order difficult to get for the employee working - so i had to yell my order). As i pulled up the employees where playing around inside the store. (Hitting each other and goofing off..) After receiving my food i sat there for a while, waiting on my drinks to be handed to me. I had to unbuckle my seat belt and bang on the drive threw window to ask for my drinks while the employees where playing around and shoving each other (just to get their attention).... The food is great (regardless of my order not being completely great)... but the experience with staff sucks... read more

This location is absolutely horrible. Went through the drive through and repeated the order FOUR times. Repeated chicken tender tray with double order of Cajun fries three times; on the fourth repeat it translated into a chicken sandwich, plain. That's fine, but when we got the tray the chicken sandwich was LOADED with grilled onions and the bread was completely saturated with grease - it was inedible. Also, fries were plain and not Cajun. Forgot the peanut butter shake and had to re-order last minute as we were paying. Will not return. read more

I had cookout not to long ago with a couple of friends and we decided to eat some where before catching a movie and we decided to go to Cookout.The prices are very reasonable,I ordered for a friend and me and I ordered a spicy chicken with fries and a milkshake and they ordered a quesadilla with fries and a milkshake too.The price was only about 12 dollars.The food did take a while but the waiting was worth it,The food was good. read more

The Ace burger is my go-to, and it delivers every time. The shoestring fries are excellent, and the sweet potato tots are another favorite. I've also treated myself to a milkshake here and there, and they're worth it. Fun bonus: they offer "boozy shakes" for adults, which adds a playful twist -- just note they have to be enjoyed on site. They also keep a short, rotating list of beers, which I appreciate. It's curated, not overwhelming. One thing I noticed recently -- and as a fellow marketer, I have to applaud this -- is their milkshake happy hour from 2-4 PM. That's a smart strategy to drive traffic during slower hours between lunch and dinner. Simple, effective, and well executed. A few practical notes: Parking can be a little tight because the lot behind the restaurant is small, but if you go during off-peak hours or order ahead for pickup, it's manageable. The Belmont neighborhood location is easy to get in and out of, and while it's not a high-traffic pedestrian area, that can actually work in your favor. Bottom line: As someone who grew up with West Coast burger culture, this is the closest I've found in Charlotte to that classic, satisfying bite -- even if it costs a bit more than In-N-Out. They were fresh, but too thin and the flavor and texture were not to my personal preference. The crab kind of got lost in all the other ingredients. I would definitely try a different dish next time. I ordered a side of bacon, perfectly cooked and great flavor. Along with the side of their mac & cheese, which has always been a favorite. I love the combination of cheeses that they use. It's such a treat! Lastly, we had to have their Parmesan truffle fries. Again consistent, excellent! They are always busy so reservations are required versus recommended to be honest. But we parked for free across the street because we were there early. Sadly, neither one of us had room for dessert, but their desserts are so good and the helpings are huge. Maybe next time!
