The simplicity of their process shows in the quality and consistency you get from them. We were the first in the door at 11am on a cold weekday. The staff promptly greeted us and took our order. With no one in the place, we decided to eat in. The tables were properly spaced and everyone was masked. My "small" burger was awesome. Nice and sloppy with the sautéed mushrooms and onions. My husband had a standard burger with only a few toppings so his wasn't as sloppy and it held together as expected. We ordered a single large fry, that's all you really need. These were perfect!!! I haven't had any better from Five Guys. They were a little extra cooked but that's exactly what I love about them. Zero waiting around getting soggy. These fries were to die for!! Since it was so cold and loud she decided to eat outside. When she finally got to eat her food, she bit into her burger and the entire burger was bloody and raw. Basically; even though you order and pay online well in advance of arriving; you still have to wait in line at the cashier to tell them you are here. Whats the point?? It would have been faster to walk in and order. People who ordered in person well after I did got their food and left; even though I ordered well before they did. And to top it off; they screwed up the order. They used to be so much better (and cheaper! $10 for a single bacon cheeseburger is ridiculous!!) So my wife and I eat here once a week. We love the food. Have NEVER had a bad meal. But things happen. So we started ordering with the app, pick it up, and go home to eat. Very convenient. We had used this process a couple of times with no issue. But last week I went to place the order and when I hit submit I get an error message telling me the order failed. I try it again and get the same thing. So, puzzled, I check my bank to make sure I've not been robbed! And the money is there and also I notice a charge for the meal twice on my account. So the order mail have failed but I was charged for each attempt. So we head to the store to resolve the matter. Keep in mind that my wife and I are not the kind of people to panic or rush in the store half cocked like the poor guy/gal behind the register personally screwed us over So we explain the situation to the very nice young lady at the register. Obviously she can't fix it but she was VERY nice and apologetic and she gets the manager. Same deal. He has no idea what to do and is super nice. He calls the GM (Raheem) and explains the situation. They talk and the manager explains to me that Raheem will talk to Corp in the morning to resolve the issue. We get our food and go home. The next day Raheem calls and explains that a 3rd Party runs the app ordering and payment processing stuff. That the charges will be reversed. That day not one but both charges were removed. The point here is this... The Five Guys in Gastonia provided the kind of customer service that every business should aspire to provide. I was a customer. Now I'm a customer for life!!! read more

This is the worst five guys I've been to, ordered two chocolate milkshakes both very watered down and not much chocolate so I got them to remake it. I would like to update my review after management reached out to me. Tonight I decided to give this location another try and boy I'm glad that I did. Edwin, the manager on duty listened to the situation that happened on my prior visit and didn't hesitate to take charge and comp our order. The entire meal was excellent and was definitely worthy of being a Five Guys Burger and that says a lot. I understand that as a new restaurant opening there are going to be bumps in the road and while this location is going through some bumps, they will make sure that you leave as a satisfied customer and that's what matters most. read more

Yes, the little hamburger isn't all that little and has a lot of free toppings. Yes, the drink is the fun Coke freestyle machine and you can drink as much as you want. So the only way it really makes sense to eat here, a fast food restaurant with great fries and reasonable burgers, is to bring two friends, split the fry, get a little burger, and eat 5 dollars worth of peanuts. I dunno, maybe I am not in the majority for what I expect a fast food burger to cost. If you want to spend a lot on a burger, and feel like you are getting some kind of value, go to Smash burger or ANY local burger place. I don't know what happened, but a few years ago both the Gastonia and Shelby Five Guys closed but every other restaurant everywhere else was unaffected. Anyways, I've eaten here a few times and never had a bad meal. The burgers are always hot and perfect. Honestly, my only complaint is that I feel they're a little pricey, but they do let you load up a burger with everything, so I guess you just have to carpe the diem out of your burger and add grilled mushrooms, onions, steak sauce, etc. to get your money's worth. Great fries, too. Really, really good. Like better than any fair good. Add in the cool drink machine (I don't do soda often, but I do have to get vanilla ginger ale when at Five Guys) and the free peanuts and you've got a winner. read more

I thought "little" meant child's size but found out it just meant one beef patty not two. The order of fries was huge. Could easily share with two people which I will do next time. Hamburger was very fresh and juicy. I think Five Guys follows the In and Out model of made on premises, but I prefer Five Guys. The portions are more generous. It's a cheeseburger for adults.
