    The WRONG sandwich
    Zach M.

To put it where the goats can get it....this place is horrible. 31 minutes to get two subs tonight. what made it worse was that the second one was wrong. we ordered a meat only sub with mustard...literally bread, meat, and mustard. We instead were given the back 9 of the local country club spread all over a sandwich with tomatoes, onions, and cheese thrown on it like ray charles playing darts. Great job firehouse subs at failing miserably. Probably wouldn't be as hot if it weren't overly expensive and waiting 30 minutes. picture below for reference.

First time visitor. Didn't do anything fancy and ordered off the menu. Along with sandwiches that already have names (fire department type names) from the menu you can do a build your own sandwich or get a salad. I'm pretty basic sandwich person so ordered the hook and ladder. As is. Now that I've been I know what changes to make in the future as far as the add on that I like. The sandwich was toasted and once the order was complete one of the staff brought it to us. Will definitely go back again. It was fairly busy and the staff seemed pleasant. Some of the tables needed to be wiped down, but with it being the lunch time hour I get them not having time.

Plastic strands pulled from my Turkey Bacon Ranch Firehouse sub.

While I was waiting for my order, another customer came in and showed them that his Turkey sub was full of plastic strands. I had ordered the same subs and asked that they please check and ensure my subs did not have any plastic (they said they would). Meanwhile the staff is pointing fingers about who's fault it was and not seeming to take it seriously in front of the customers. I got home and both our subs had a bunch of plastic strands, and because the sub were heated they were partially melted into the Turkey, making them inedible.

    The Engineer. Good...until first bite.

I cannot abide Subway. That being said, I can safely say Firehouse is just a lateral step to the left of Subway. The concept of supporting our local public safety officers by purchasing food from this establishment is a nice touch. So money not completely wasted. The sandwiches sound good on paper. I ordered The Engineer, turkey and cheese on wheat, and husband ordered the pastrami and beef combo, the name escapes me. Both *looked* good, but the flavor was completely lacking. My daughter, the former super-carnivore-turned-vegetarian-again, was not so lucky. She ordered the broccoli and cheese soup and side salad with BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE DRESSING (I have this capitalized for a reason)with NO TOMATOES. Her salad came with Italian dressing and chock full of tomatoes. (The manager took the order and we specified no tomatoes and repeated ourselves so there would be no questions. ) Food brought to table and the worker beat a hasty retreat, like he KNEW the order was incorrect and didn't want to be blamed for it being wrong. Husband returned salad and was again brought back to table with no tomatoes this time and Italian dressing again. Went to counter to get balsamic dressing but by then everything was almost eaten and the idea of a twice returned side salad was ridiculous. Sorry things were so complicated, guys. Side salads are hard, apparently.

The Steamer and The Italian. Honestly I couldn't tell them apart flavorwise

Best Sandwich I've had. Recommend the beef and cheddar brisket or the turkey bacon ranch.

I find it is best to go inside rather than use the drive thru as it takes them awhile to make the food.

They have wine and beer, local products, and a really inviting atmosphere. The service is always friendly and prompt. I love their hot bar the most. I end up spending less than $3 for each meal I get from the hot bar. Some days it's pasta, some days it's Mexican food, sometimes it's Chinese food, it is always something different!

We meal prep every week and Mr. MVP packs a lunch and snacks, so he has not had to buy a lunch in years, but every so often it is nice to join the people in his office for a quick walk outside to grab a coffee or a snack. When City Centre Market opened we really did not think anything about it because normal delis are just that, delis full of deli food with sugar and carbohydrates. City Centre is very different. First of all, for the sugar and carb eaters, City Centre has a bakery and a small grocery line with pasta, soda, rice, ice cream, and chips, so do not panic. For the ketoers, however, City Centre is pretty spectacular. They have a huge selection of sugar free and low carb foods. They carry a lot of salami, meat, and cheese, as well as pickles, pre-packed hard boiled eggs and bulk nuts. They also have Halo Top and Quest brand frozen pizza and snacks. There is a full salad bar and coffee bar along with produce from the Food Co-Op. City Centre has kitchen and home essentials like laundry detergent and soap as well as lotion and baby wipes. They also have a small selection of dog and cat treats and food. Their facebook page lists the following: Sandwiches toasted or cold Full Espresso bar with Nitro Cold Brew Breakfast Sandwiches Smoothie Bar made with Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, and coconut water 100% vegan. Nutrition-boost available ( Açaí powder, Chia Seeds, Maca Powder, Hemp Seeds) Salad Bar set by 8AM Fresh Soups (4 rotating varieties daily) Fresh baked goods Specialty Cheese with cheese from all over the world Baked or steamed options on the hot bar Meal Solutions choose 1 protein and 2 sides for $10 We also learned that they are offering downtown local employees 10% off their meal purchase for the next few months. We dropped by on Saturday morning and left with a bottled water, some cheese, salami and pickles for our morning snack. The owner came out to thank us for stopping in and the employee who checked us out was friendly and helpful. Mr. MVP is happy to have a healthy and convenient option right on the downtown mall and on a busy week it might take the pressure off meal prep every so often.
