Nonla Burger is pretty tasty and offers a great value. We have a location in Grand Rapids now, but stopped in to this spot recently. Their indoor seating area is super tiny but they do have some tables outside. We managed to get a table and our food was done quickly. The menu is small, with burgers, a chicken sandwich (you can get spicy or regular), fries, a couple starters, and milkshakes. I ordered the double smash burger which was perfection, with juicy patties and crisp lettuce. It's definitely one of the better local fast-casual burgers I've had in the Grand Rapids area (I haven't had many in Kalamazoo, but I would guess it's one of the best there, too). Nate got the spicy chicken sando combo which comes with fries and a drink. The fries are average but you can get them Nonla Way, with melted cheese, grilled onions, cilantro, etc. to kick them up a bit. I had a few bites of the chicken sando and unfortunately it just tasted like fish since their weekly special was a fish sandwich. Not very appetizing for me. This is my first time to the Kalamazoo location as the Mattawan Nonla has permanently closed. Good news though - food is still perfect! Nonla has maybe my favorite wings ever made. They are meaty, have a perfect exterior with a bit of a crunch, and the hot honey sauce is a dreamy sticky wonderland of flavor. I love the salad of the day with the super fresh herbs - truly delightful and a nice light complement to the heaviness of the chicken and burger options. Visited on a Saturday evening 6pm and had to wait for a parking spot but plenty of booths open to dine in. Fun, welcoming vibe right when you entered. We were greeted with a warm welcome and did not feel rushed or pushed to order. It was our first time here and we were talked through several options for sauces and toppings on the side as well as add ons. Food came out fresh and hot in about 10 mins even with plenty of take out orders coming through the doors while we were there. I personally enjoyed my burger, it was juicy and hit the spot like any good "bar" or dive spot burger does. My husband loved his spicy chicken sando. He added the house made pickles and enjoyed their flavor but their size made it a bit hard to eat. He ate most of them on the side separate, which to be fair is probably how they are truly intended to be enjoyed. Chicken was cooked well, hardy and balanced with good flavor. I had my fries the Nonla way which included grilled onions, their special sauce and jalapeños. When I say I never want to eat fries any other way I mean it. So good! I personally love nonla burger. It is very convenient, as the service is always quick and it is worth the money. I usually get the cheeseburger and it is so delicious my only critique is that it falls apart quick so I usually have to cut it and use toothpicks to hold it together. The fried are delicious and they never disappoint as they are big and always the right temperature. One small bit of advice, I wouldn't order online. Spending the extra time driving there is worth it as you get it hot. The times I have ordered, my food was cold and I got the cheese fries and the cheese was already solid and just wasn't the best. The look of the restaurant is cute, the one near burdick is smaller but that's the one I usually go to and the workers are so nice and it's always clean. Went to the Burdick St. location, a small building that you could easily pass if you weren't familiar with area. Due to pandemic our order was pick up only. Order was ready quickly, and friendly service. Ordered two cheeseburger meals with fries. Asked for iced tea and had to pay an up charge since we didn't order a fountain drink. Burger was well wrapped, made it easy to eat. Very tasty burger, we enjoyed it just not sure it was the best I've ever had. While visiting Kalamazoo I was on my own for lunch and all I wanted was a really good chicken sandwich. I am so so happy this place popped up in my search because it was another life experience. This chicken sandwich BLEW MY MIND! First off I got the spicy chicken but I am going to assume the regular is just as mind blowing. The spicy one is dipped, yes dipped in chili oil . You'd think it would be too spicy to eat but it was it just the perfect heat. It contains a nice hearty amount of Mayo and then their homemade pickles. The pickles were amazing! Go for the sandwich, stay for the pickles. I seriously put into words how much I enjoyed this sandwich. I wouldn't shut up about it all day. Nonla burger was a lot smaller than I was expecting but my husband and I had read all about how fantastic the burgers are so we didnt let the size discourage us from delicious nom noms. We were told about what comes on the burgers and chicken sandwich while we waited in line. My husband got the double burger with fries while I got a single burger. We chose to eat in and attempted to patiently wait. I had requested no tomato and my husband said no veggies. He got no veggies but mine still came with tomato. It's not a big deal and honestly was having an awful day and knew my brain was overreacting which would show if I said something. I decided to just pick it off but was disappointed that quite a bit off the sauce came off with the tomato. When I parked my car in front, the tables outside were occupied and folks were even eating in their car. I placed my order at the counter and lucked out with a table inside. Yes, four patties with cheese in between each and LTO. Perfect for my keto diet without the bun. They made a valiant attempt to do it in a lettuce wrap but I was already planning to knife and fork this monster. It was delicious! Wet, messy, very flavorful and the "Nonla sauce" was tasty too. I visited Nolan burger with couple of friends. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich with fries. I liked the chicken and how crunchy it was. The bun was ok, but I wasn't a big fan of the pickled veggies inside. I asked to remove it but the staff said it is a good thing to try. I give it 2/5 The fries is very good!! Just the right taste. The food, the service, the staff, have always been amazing. The two restaurants in Kalamazoo are clean and brightly decorated. I love going to nonla, and their chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I have ever had. But I cannot afford $16 for a sandwich, drink and fries from a drive through. Prices used to be reasonable, and quite recently they gave them a big adjustment. I hope they are paying the employees more, and I hope other people can afford $4 fries and $4 pops. In the midwest, my burger standard is Au/Small Cheval - which is also a really great, simple burger - so this joint doesn't quite live up to the hype for me. All the sad faces. We had the: *Hamburger (2.7oz certified angus beef patty on a white bun with lettuce, tomato, onion and our Nonla spread) - My fiance insisted that it tasted pretty similar to In-N-Out. I thought it wasn't quite In-N-Out..but to be fair, my usual order is a Double Double and you can't really compare a hamburger to a double double. Nonla does have their version of the double double though! *Crispy Chicken Sando ("Nonla way" fried chicken sandwich with american cheese, grilled onions, pickled veg, jalapenos, cucumbes, cilantro, and spicy ranch dressing): For the price, this was a great hunkin' piece of fried chicken. It was a wee bit dry. I appreciate the attention to detail though - that toasted bun! *Hand Cut Fries: Back home, the fries are a point of contention at In-N-Out and I gotta give up to Nonla for spending 2 years to perfect this because it's a pretty damn perfect fry. You can't help but appreciate the thin crispness of the exterior and perfect fluff interior. The crispy bits almost remind me of a Lay potato chip & I mean that in the most complimentary way possible because a Lay's chip has been R&D'ed like crazy & it's incredible that a hand cut fry can achieve that level of potato crisp. Very tasty. I'm in town visiting friends this weekend and we stopped here for takeout today. They do have a few small booths but it's more suited for takeout. I had the double cheeseburger minus lettuce and cheese, "Nonla way," which includes a special sauce, jalapenos, cilantro, and grilled onions. I was super curious to see how it compared to In-N-Out; it's similar but a little different. I'd definitely come back here and next time I'd try their fried chicken sandwich - it looks similar to the one at Miss Kim's in Ann Arbor. Their milkshakes are also supposed to be very good. The person taking the orders spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to produce such an order and tried to send me to another location for pick up even though I explained, I don't mind waiting. She said they would have to pause DoorDash orders in order to accommodate my order. I'm sorry, is that my problem if I'm willing to spend $200 at your establishment shouldn't I be a priority. After having to call a manager or somebody my order was accepted. it took them all of 15 minutes to cook the food. Wow, they make great burgers, better fries, and I am guessing the shakes will be just as amazing! I tried their Beyond veggie burger wow again, I was raised a lacto-ovo vegetarian, so I enjoy veg and cheese as well as meat and cheese. The veggie burger is done well very well. It is a bit expensive, but defiantly worth a try, if a couple extra bucks does not bother you, for a very convincing veggie burger. In town shopping for the day with my wife for lunch we thought we would try Nola Burgers we love his vietnamese street food place. First parking is a night mare. I ordered a cheese burger and fries , wife ordered a chicken sandwich and fries. $9.00 each. Order came my burger was so paper thin , the onion was twice the size of the burger patty , lettuce was 3 time the size of the patty . Could not taste the meat. Wifes chicken was so tuff it was hard to chew . My bun was dry and hard. The decor consisted of a advertisement pages ripped out of a few old Rolling Stones magazines, hung by paper clips off white peg boards .
