They had a modern drink dispenser that allowed for many options and adjustments to the drink you were using. They had an outdoor patio which we made use of. The food is good. They should offer some plastic bags that are easy to carry when u have more then one item . Bought two sandwiches last night and one of the paper bags busted open and the food ended up in the parking lot in front of the jewelry store. I cleaned it up and tossed it I my trash can at home . I will never order from this place again! Twice we've ordered and got completely wrong sandwiches! The second time, my husband called and spoke with the franchise owner who was rude and condescending with no offer to make it right other than "what do you want me to do?" Firehouse Subs was tucked away in a plaza in the back. This place probably opened recently because I've never heard of this place until recently. The parking lot was full but still some spots here and there. The interior of this place reminded me of those diners that had those checkered tile floors. There were a lot of seating and wasn't busy when I came on a Thursday around 6:15pm. I didn't study the menu before going here but they did have a menu online. I decided to order a large Hook and Ladder ($8.15 total). I ordered it to go so I sat at one of tables. The seat was comfortable so it was a nice little wait. lol My food was ready a few minutes later. The sub was about a foot long and a little soggy because I had to drive back to my apartment which wasn't their fault. Other than that, it was delicious and pretty filling. I would say a large would be enough for two people or just one person with a huge appetite like me. I definitely will go back to try other subs because the all sounded good to me. Visited this restaurant on 12-18-2013 for lunch. I ordered the meatball sandwich (large) with the regular meatballs (they offer sweet and spicy as well) with provolone cheese and Italian seasoning. The sandwich was delicious in my opinion. The staff was friendly right when we walked in to the time we left. My co-worker ordered the steak and cheese sandwich and thought it was delicious. I had my Track & Field team here at William Jewel for a meet today and we wanted to get subs for our athletes for lunch. I called to place an order for 19 subs and am always a little nervous about how smooth it'll be placing a large and very individualized order. I had nothing to worry about as Crystal efficiently took my order of specific subs and wrote each person's name and sub order on individual stickers which were affixed on the wrapped subs so I could then sort and distribute them easily at the track. I was extremely pleased. Jimmy John's only ever writes down the # of the sub and it's always a pain handing them out. Not to mention they made it all seem like a breeze even at the height of their lunch rush. Sorry but yelp changed my post. I can say the firehouse subs in the Des Moines area are some of the worst I have ever eaten at! They don't cook the sandwiches long enough! They have long waits and they short you on meats (this is a common practice in Iowa)!!!! I suggest taking pictures of your food and sending them to the home office in Jacksonville, Florida as we loose way to many restaurants in Des Moines (we have one of the worst averages in the country) and this needs to stop! I've heard of this place but never felt a desire to come here. Then before I was headed to my job I was just driving around Liberty thinking what do I want. Saw this place and said why not I'll try it. At first, I was not a fan of the sandwich and I was already regretting spending money. Then the taste hit me and it was good. I had the turkey bacon medium sandwich with chips and a drink. The order taker was decent and didn't rush me. The restaurant was clean. I liked that there was fire fighter gear everywhere.
