Went here for the first time. Staff were friendly and greet us promptly as we entered. We order the new tenders meal, it came out pretty quick. The table we were was a bit sticky. We didn't know we could have order a ranch, which was not offered to us, we just got the standard sauce. Their tenders were cook with the right crispiness and meat. Peach and raspberry tea were good. Would rate it about 3.5/5. This was our first time here. Cashier was super friendly and helpful. Or food came out fairly quickly. We did have to wipe off our table, but not a big deal. Kids had chicken tenders with fries, and macaroni. They really enjoyed the macaroni. I had a chicken club sandwich and thought it was very tasty. I'm really surprised that this location isn't rated higher overall, as it is my favorite "fast food" chicken & this location always has great service and super fresh food! The chicken and fries are always piping hot. I usually get a basket with yummy garlic toast included and a drink (or just water and save 75 cents). The salad is also great and I highly suggest the raspberry vinaigrette. If you sign up for the app, they are always offering deals. This was my first time eating at a Slim Chickens. The cashier/manager, Eugene, was very helpful in accommodating my alpha gal allergy. I waited In drive thru so long that my order had cooled down so I was told they'd fix a new order. I think that's why my toast was omitted. For a chain restaurant outside of a hotel I was very pleasantly surprised. The chicken, mac and cheese, wrap, and fries were all delicious. The service from what I am assuming are all young guys in their late teens or early twenties was great. Only downside was overall cleanliness. Slim Chickens is anything but slim pickings and I'm not sure you'll stay slim after your meal either. Something along these lines should definitely be there motto and not the whole "we're southern at heart" crap, if you ask me. My mom and I happened to be passing through Liberty around lunch and decided to both try out Slim Chickens for the first time. The restaurant was filled with construction workers, you would have thought it was a BBQ restaurant(I'm not sure for what reason but I tended to have this male dominated dining experience in the past at BBQ places), so we decided to sit outside. My mom commented how she felt like she was "On somebody's back porch" so there's that. Here's where they get it right, the value and the coleslaw, if you don't like creamy thiccc coleslaw keep your opinions to yourself (or order another side). My meal was right around $10 and I left extremely full. Note to make, they charge for extra sauces. But, they offer many exotic, by Midwestern standards at least, sauce varieties and at 29 cents extra a side it's a steal. The chicken tenders were just alright. Not overly greasy, fried to a pleasant light golden brown but the breading didn't really "stick" right. I mean, yeah ok, the sauces covered up the bland chicken but I was expecting more. Also the Texas toast on the side would make the "everything is bigger in..." state shudder. The problem was the bread itself was not really anything special, just a little thicker than your basic white sandwhich bread. I tasted my mom's chosen side of ranch flavored chips but I stuck with the fries. Both of these potato preparations tasted good enough. The fries were crispy, fried well and the ranch dusting on the homemade potato chips was not in the slightest overwheming which I appreciated. However, the fries win in this make believe battle because they don't require a dipping sauce whereas, the chips are pretty dry on there own. read more

First and last time having Slim Chickens. Stopped for lunch and it was a huge let down. Chicken was so dry, thank goodness for the dipping ranch. The ranch was the best part. Unlike the Slim Sauce, which was very tomato like but season less. I set the best dipping sauce as Freddy's fry sauce. Fries were mid at best. Pickles so salty we could not eat them (picture showing what we tossed). Bread was toasted on one side and soggy on the other. Service was same as every other fast food, all teens. Floor was so sticky my shoes kept getting stuck. Busy on a Sunday over lunch but was still able to get a table and hear each other talk. As stated, no worth a second try. I discovered this restaurant in driving by. It has nice curb appeal and I was excited to try it. I had visions of plump and juicy wings and a delicious chicken sandwich. I ordered a Cayenne Chicken Ranch Sandwich and an eight-piece chicken wing meal, which came with Texas toast, fries, a drink, and eight wings. The sandwich had potential with tasty condiments and veggies, but the chicken was borderline dry and very thin, as contrasted by what you get at Chick-Fil-A. It's not even in the same ballpark. The wings were small, overcooked, and most were the middle pieces, not the plump drumette variety. The fries were fine, but a bit soggy and the toast was thin like regular bread and only average at best. The two sauces were the only food redemption. Both were delicious. My lemonade was blah. The drive-through young lady was on her first night and did a great job and was quite friendly. When I ask for her favorite menu item, she had a good answer and said she hoped to see me again. When chicken is your main thing, you better do it well. This spot is below average. With so many chicken choices, I'd have to think long and hard about ever going back. read more

Out of all the choices you have for fast food at a particular exit off the interstate, I put Slim Chickens at the top. The food here is much higher quality than what you will find elsewhere. The service was quick and there is plenty of seating with TVs located throughout to watch the game. The chicken tenders are very good with a very large selection of sauces to pick from. A lot of food for the money! I had to get a box for my 5 tender meal and take half of it with me to eat later. A couple minutes in the oven to warm up the chicken and fries, and it was just as good! read more

I visited on Saturday, 06 June, and I would not return to this location based on my experience!! I ordered the five piece tenders meal. I'm not a big fan of Texas toast, so I asked if they could give me more potato chips rather than give me a slice of toast that I would not eat. The server flatly said "We don' substitute" - no "I'm sorry", or anything to offer any apology or sympathy. It was not the end of the world, so I paid for my offer and waited for my meal. When my meal arrived, it came with a very small serving of potato chips. I'm talking about a dozen chips, give or take. They skimped on the potato chips when I paid nine dollars for my meal? Really? So, I took my plate up to the server and pointed out the small number of chips. He replied to say "We cover half the plate with a serving of chips." That layer of chips was skimpier then an outfit worn by Miley Cyrus ... I told the server that a dozen chips seemed rather small, and he grudgingly trudged to the kitchen window and got me some more chips for my meal. I would point out that within 2 miles of this location are other restaurants who specialty is chicken: Chick-fil-A, Raising Canes, and Zaxby's. There is too much good competition out there for Slim Chickens to be pulling this type of stuff! Today is the second time I've tried Slim Chickens, and I have to say I've been pretty disappointed each time. The food is bland, and for some reason not hot at all. You would think fries and a buffalo chicken sandwich would be hot when you start eating it within the same minute you receive it, but not here! I could tell the fries were old. Their buffalo sauce isn't spicy at all. Personally, just a waste of my $8.00. I won't be trying it out again. Maybe different locations are better, but this one sucks. read more

I was very excited to try this place after hearing about it and actually being home in KC to finally try it. Unfortunately, it was definitely over-hyped and I won't be back. The restaurant was clean but the aura wasn't very welcoming and the cashier didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was absolutely overpriced for what you get and for the quality of the food. The signature Slim Sauce tasted like pure ketchup. I will say that the Cayenne Ranch was good! I'm happy that I was able to get it off of my to-do list but don't go here for good chicken. Kansas City has too many other better tasting and cheaper chicken options. Slim chickens...big pickens. They may have a smaller menu, but it's full of big choices. You can definitely order one of the combos and share it. The chicken is nicely done, and actually tastes like chicken as opposed to the overly processed garbage you most often find at fast food places. The staff is friendly, a tad slow but it's worth the wait. They also offer a wide variety of sauces, the garlic parmesan is my favorite. Or the honey barbeque, it's a hard choice. They have a few desserts, I've tried 2. The jar dessert is a cute idea and who doesn't love a knife mason jar with the slim chickens logo on it. The dessert isn't amazing, at least for me it wasn't but it is a fun idea. The fried pie, my husband loves. I was not a huge fan, as k do not like pudding. And that's the filling. You really can't go wrong with slims. This place is the main source of my happiness and it brings me an insurmountable amount of joy. The customer service here is outstanding, within the few minutes of interaction, you truly feel that you've known each other for years. Anything you choose will be absolutely fantastic and as for drinks I highly recommend the peach sweet tea. The brownie jar desert and chicken and waffles will always hold a special place in my heart. I've only eaten here a few times since it requires me to drive through the horrible traffic that is NE Barry Rd and W Kansas St, but its always been a solid experience. Food is always good- chicken and fries are always hot and crispy, the chips are good and you get a nice helping, only tried the wings once and they were nice and crispy, etc. Unfortunately haven't tried the deserts yet, but they look pretty good. The store itself looks aesthetically nice, though the space for the line isn't very big. Never had any issues with staff other than occasionally getting a cashier who is hard to understand, but that's not her fault and I'm not gonna dock a point cause someone has a speech impediment. My only real complaint and reason for 4 rather than 5 stars is just that it's pricey. But that's a minor complaint given the consistent quality of the food. I suppose another minor complaint is having napkins be on a roll (and in the center of a cardboard display). It's a little irritating to have to unroll pieces with messy hands and knowing that other ppl may have greased up what you're about to try to clean yourself with. Definitely need to upgrade to napkin dispensers either at the table or with all the cup lids/straws. read more

I can only speak to their chicken strips and fries. I thought I would give it a try as I like Raising Caines, Popeyes and Zaxbys. I opted for a kid meal with fry sauce. I decided to try slim chicken today after trying to go to Chick-fil-a and realizing it's SUNDAY! Let me start off with the fact that this is the longest I have ever waited in a drive through... there were 4 cars ahead of me and it took over 10mins. The whole point of the drive they is soeed. I also hate that you are trapped in the drive thru so you can't even leave when the wait is horrible. I ordered the chicken tender plate with 4 tenders, fries, toast, drink and 2 sauces. So after 10 mins of just waitin in line behind only 4 other people I got my chicken tenders. Of course they forgot one of the sauces, so I had to park, get my son out of the car in his car seat and truck into the restaurant to get my sauce. No "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" or anything. Another complaint I have is only getting one napkin... I'm going to probably need more than one napkin when I am eating finger food and there are dipping sauces are involved. Overall this chick-fil-a wanna be missed the mark. The food was ok, very slow, and not great customer service. I think next time I will wait until Monday for my chicken. read more

When I contacted the store, the manager told me that I could drive back to the store and the missing pieces would be provided. The chicken quality is on par with Cane's, but the breading here is crispier. I love fried okra, and they are one of the only local places that offer it. Their peach sweet tea is the best sweet tea of all the chicken places, in my opinion. They have a wide variety of sauces, which gives them an edge compared to others as well. The consistency here is great. I order the same meal here about once a week and have never had issues. Workers are efficient and polite, and do well to ensure the meal is copley's to the specifications of the order. There have been a few issues in thee past with groups larger than four but they were quickly solved. I also appreciate the weekly deals available at the location, such as chicken and waffle discounts, and kids eat free. They also offer catering and larger platters. The chicken is obviously great and the sauces add a unique touch, allowing you to personalize an already great meal. Very affordable given the size of the meals, and the sides are nice as well.
