This Chik fil A location can't handle anything larger than a single order. This is third and last time we put in a large family order in the drive in line that was completely mishandled. Our southwest salad was a Cobb salad, missing multiple fries in the order and the fries that were provided were less than half full and cold. Several items in our large order were not there. Impossible to check out sitting in a busy drive in line when handed a large single bag of food. Sorry, used up all your good will. No more Chik fil A. Plenty of better, more economical choices. read more

Convenient location and good subs. Whenever I'm craving a sub my family eats at firehouse subs. Fresh ingredients and a good variety of subs to choose from. Had a small issue with one of our subs having ranch on it when we had requested no ranch. It was a to go order so we didn't notice the problem until we got home and took a bite out of it. read more

There are 3 people in the restaurant waiting for their food. I ordered a very simple sandwich 25 minutes ago. 2 people waiting ahead of me. And three employees that seem to be busy working on whatever they're doing. I'm just scratching my head as to what they are doing for 25 minutes as all three of us waiting still haven't received a sandwich yet. Nothing is sitting in the online pickup area... What the heck happened to this location. There was a time Firehouse Subs was one of the best out there. But our most recent experience made us never want to go back again. The bunch of kids working behind the counter seemed to not have any clue what to do or didn't want to be there. Some very young blonde girl that looked 15 years old was bossing everyone around and looked totally stressed out. Was she the manager? Seriously? She kept telling all the customers walking in that it will be about a 15 minute wait because they are swamped. But there was only about 6 people sitting at the tables. One of the customers was waiting almost a half hour for his order and finally went up to the counter asking what's going on. It turned out they gave his order to another customer. We finally got our order and as expected with all the chaos going on it would be screwed up. Our sandwiches had pickles and onions on them even though WE MADE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR WHEN WE ORDERED we didn't want them. The bread was stale and the sandwich looked like it was thrown together in a big hurry. (Which it was) Is the district manager aware of what's happening here? Does anyone care? All I can say about this location is buyer beware, or even better is to avoid it all together. read more

I typically like Firehouse Subs food, however, this particular location is so filthy outside that I am no longer willing to go inside. The outside area is in desperate need of power washing (or even a simple wipe down) and the tables and bugs cleaned up. I can't imagine anyone would eat at these tables. Although the picture below shows a pair of shoe inserts that were later removed, the filth on the tables (not just the 1 table in the picture) is still there weeks later. The store manager and employees HAVE to see this every day when they walk in. Maybe removing the tables is an alternative to keeping them clean. If they're OK with the outside being so filthy it gives me the impression that lack of cleanliness would be acceptable in the food handling area as well. read more

I'm not really sure why I dislike this place. The sandwiches are actually pretty good. Perhaps it's the way they half-heartedly mumble "Welcome to Firehouse" in a totally unenthusiastic way when you walk in the door. I'm certain it's because they take an inordinately long time to make your sandwich. I know I'm spoiled by Jimmy John's: they have your sandwich done by the time you walk to the pick-up area. But every other sandwich place I frequent is loads and loads faster than Firehouse. I'm also not a fan of Coke Freestyle machines- you get a long line of people waiting and waiting as each person makes their drink decisions. One positive thing I can say, is I'm so glad they introduced the "small sandwich" option for lighter appetites. Unfortunately, it's the only positive thing I can add. read more

One of the worst firehouses I've ever been to. Took roughly 35 minutes for my sub to be made. At the 20 minute mark, I asked the crew member if my order is coming up and he just said "ahh he's workin on it down there." No apology then waited an extra 15 mins. They said they're working on a catering order when the whole restaurant is packed with dine in customers. Manager needs to work on constructing a better crew that can make the subs faster with better customer service. read more

Had a good friend (thanks Ben!) tell me how great Firehouse Subs sandwhiches taste. As I'm a lover of good sub sandwiches, I had to give them a try. Today, I tried the sampler route and bought two small sandwiches. The first was the Italian- Genoa Salami, pepperoni, Virginia Honey Ham, provolone, Italian dressing & seasonings. It also came with a dill pickle spear on the side. Whoa, this sandwich kicked tail, one of the best I've tasted! The second sandwich was The New York Steamer-corned beef, pastrami, provolone, deli mustard, mayo & Italian dressing. It too, came with a dill pickle spear on the side. Verrry good! I found out that both my sandwhiches came "Fully Involved " ie.,mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato,onion & a kosher dill spear on the side. Aha! The staff was very welcoming and one in particular, Matthew checked on me several times to see how I was enjoying my meal. Thanks Matthew! Just left this place, needless to say I'll never go back. The place was filthy, inside and out, literally FILTHY. There was a guy working behind the counter with long (below his shoulders) dark bushy hair that I felt was dropping into my food, no coverage, ponytail, or anything to semi prevent shedding. To top it off, nobody was in any real hurry, the place wasn't busy, but took 22 minutes to get our food, small and med sandwich, seemed like there was zero sense of urgency, thus an abnormal amount of time to get a simple sandwich. Looked like what may have been a manager sitting behind us on her laptop, got up once and sat right back down, she wasn't concerned or maybe she was on a lunch break on her laptop, not sure, she had a store shirt on. Edit: I ended up with food poisoning, vomited for 24 hours. I did get my meal comped but i wish I could go back in time and not eat here. I have been buying my subs from this joint for the last couple of years and yet last Monday, I went to get my free sub because of my birthday. Every year, I just gave my phone number and I would get a medium sub. This year a very unfriendly middle aged woman told me that it needed to be in an app otherwise she couldn't give me anything. The bread tastes very fresh and the sandwiches are pretty simple -- my wife and kids are 'holders' and they don't have to ask to have anything left off their subs here. I've never been there when they have been crowded, so take that into account. A but pricey, but I'd go here over Subway or Port of Subs any time. read more

I tried the New York Steamer at Firehouse subs today - wow, that was a lot of flavor. They start with a soft-baked roll, 8" or 12". They pile it high with corned beef and pastrami, melt some provolone on top and then dress it with mustard, mayo and Italian dressing. I recommend getting those toppings. They add just the right zing and juiciness. A dill spear arrives on the side. Even with a full house, my lunch was ready in eight minutes. Yay. read more

On Sunday, 5/24 at approximately 1:50pm I called to place an order for pickup with the Firehouse Subs at McKellips Marketplace on the northeast corner of McKellips and Power in Mesa. As soon as the person answered the phone, they placed me on hold. I placed the phone call as I was departing my home in Mesa. I remained on "hold" until I arrived (via automobile) at the store approximately 10 minutes later. I disconnected, went inside the store, and placed an order for two (2) sandwiches. No drinks. No chips. Two medium sandwiches. I paid a total of $11.00 for the two sandwiches, including tax and the Firehouse Subs "roundup" donation. I was told my sandwiches would be ready in approximately 15 minutes. I departed the store, returned to my vehicle, and drove to a nearby Safeway store and did some shopping. I retuned to the Firehouse Subs store exactly 15 minutes later. When I entered the store, I checked to see if my order was ready. I was told that it would be "just a few more minutes". Ten (10) minutes later, I inquired about the status of my order and was told they had accidentally given my order to another customer and would start making me my order immediately. I told them I wanted a refund instead. I was directed back to the employee at the cash register. After about 5 minutes, that clerk informed me that the cash register "was not working correctly" and he could NOT provide me with a refund. I agreed to let them make me my sandwiches and I would skip the refund if they would make my sandwiches IMMEDIATELY. They agreed, and I resumed waiting. Ten (10) minutes more passed and I was finally called to the counter and told my order was ready. I asked the employee behind the counter TWICE if she was CERTAIN that the bag she handed me contained my order. She assured me it was. I exited the store and had taken no more than three or four steps out the front door, when another customer stepped outside and called me. He told me that the employee in the store had given me another customer's order I returned to the store, they confirmed that I had been given the wrong order, and admitted they did not have MY order ready. I insisted on a refund. This time the process of receiving my refund worked, but it took five (5) minutes and was mixed with some confusion about the employee's proper access number to use the cash register. So to summarize . . . . . 10 minutes on "hold" on the phone attempting to place an order for pickup (spent while driving to the store) 15 minutes shopping at Safeway while my order was allegedly being prepared 10 minutes waiting inside the store for my order after I returned from Safeway, only to find my order had been given to another customer 5 minutes ATTEMPTING to get a refund, but ultimately being unable to do so 10 more minutes waiting for the SECOND attempt at filling my order, only to be ultimately given ANOTHER CUSTOMER's order 5 minutes (SUCCESSFULLY) getting my refund for the TWO SANDWICHES I NEVER RECEIVED 55 MINUTES - NO SANDWICHES As God as my witness, this story is not embellished. This is how it happened. There is absolutely, positively NO EXCUSE for such finely tuned INCOMPETENCE. RIDICULOUS! I have been a customer of this store since it opened. I will NEVER give them any business again. If I want a Firehouse Sub sandwich, I will travel elsewhere in Mesa to get my food. If you want to eat here: 1. Have an hour or so to kill 2. This was my first time here and I was extremely disappointed. The man who took our order seemed very distant and had below average customer service. I only ordered 2 sandwiches and my boyfriend liked his, but mine was terrible. It also took almost 15 minutes before it was ready which was strange, because preparing sandwiches should never take that long. My sandwich was poor quality and didn't taste good. I really like their subs and have normally had 4 star reviews. The reason for the 2 stars...first, I ordered an Italian on white and my friend, the veggie on wheat. Mine came on wheat hers came on white. Second, the table had not been wiped down. This is something you expect normally but even more so during a pandemic. We arrived shortly after 11. A different type of sandwich as it is heated meat. They do come fully involved with mayo cheese and everything else so not terrific if you are watching what you eat. But you can eat healthy if you remove the fully involvement. The bread is really good and a pickle spear comes on the side. Their chili is super good too but has enough calories to be a full meal by itself. One unique feature is the computerized drink machine. You can combine so many drink combos that you could come back everyday and not have the same one. read more

We've eaten at this location several times and really like their food and their mission. Yesterday we stopped for lunch on the way to an appointment and ordered our usual sandwiches behind 2 other people in line, only to look around and realize people at 5 other tables were also waiting for their food. One of the employees was fooling around with a malfunctioning soda machine, one was at the cash register and two were working on sandwiches. When we finally received our sandwiches almost 30 MINUTES LATER their response was "sorry, we got a rush and that's just the way it goes". We had to get the sandwiches to go and skip lunch. When they realized they were falling behind, the guy should have stopped fooling with the soda machine and helped with sandwiches, and the cashier should have also pitched in when no one was in line. And they could have had a better customer service attitude. I won't go back unless I have plenty of time to spare. read more

Food was ok, but the service was the slowest I've ever experienced at any sub sandwich place. No joke, it literally took them over 30 minutes to make my sandwich. This isn't rocket science, it's not like you're cooking something that requires X amount of time to prepare, or even toasting the sub, it's putting some stuff on bread and rolling it up in a piece of paper. Granted, there were maybe 4 or 5 sandwiches ahead of mine, but they were ordered before I got there and put my order in. There were also at least 3-4 people working the shop.
